This is a good example of one that I refuse to read, mainly for the way she outs one time husband Jeff Chandler for wearing women`s underwear which is nobody`s business and in very bad taste considering his death due to medical misadventure at the age of 44 in June 1961 was within months of two Hollywood giants - first Clark Gable in December at 59 and then Gary Cooper in January at 61.
My interest in Williams is already hampered by the fact that I am not interested in watching people swim. I put up with her in movies like Take Me Out to the Ballgame because I love her co-stars.
I feel reading the book will make me lose out on the films she was in that I do enjoy by making me not want to watch any of the movies she made.

I didn`t know about the abortion angle, and the dancer you mention wasn`t exactly a tap dancer so much as a ballet dancer, but from the clue you have given and having seen some of conversation clips on TCM, this is my guess:
The married dancer is Cyd Charisse.
She was supposed to be Gene Kelly`s leading lady in An American in Paris.
The role ended up going to Leslie Caron who was discovered by Gene Kelly.
The studio was MGM.
This is just a guess, because I don`t remember Cyd ever considering having an abortion.

9) Claire Trevor starred in Murder My Sweet which is actually Farewell My Lovely. The title had to be changed so that audiences would not be confused by the title. Dick Powell was famous for being in light musicals, and the original title starring Dick Powell would be a shock to his fans.

I believe you are talking about Blackmail from 1929. It was not meant to be a cameo. He was in the movie as an extra because there needed to be lots of people in a crowd scene. He did not start off with the idea that he would be doing cameos.

Oh, I agree about I Was A Male War Bride, but Grant was very attractive in his drag outfit in Bringing Up Baby where he says a phrase that somehow got past the censors.
Then there is the bizarre but fun director in the 1967 version of The Producers brain freeze on the actor's name, please help-

I'm looking forward to seeing the Batman/Superman movie, though I'm skeptical about Ben Affleck as Batman, but we'll see.
I also want to see Deadpool. I'll probably end up seeing the next Captain America movie as well.
I really want to see Finding Dory that comes out in June.
I wanted to see Hail Caesar, but haven't yet. I may wait for RedBox for this movie.
I'll probably end up seeing more of the 2016 releases. Some may be theater worthy, others may be more RedBox worthy.
I've been told by ClassicMovieRankings that there is a poster for Gregory Peck's film The Gunfighter in Deadpool. He has tried two times to find it but it was mentioned in the ending credit thank-yous for permission.
I could see me watching it to try and find the poster. And Ryan R. is a fellow Canadian who is a good actor.

I usually go by an outside source like imdb and Wikipedia. I do not think that they agree all the time, however.
By the way, it looks like I am going to have to stay home tomorrow instead of having a busy day out of the house like I usually do on Sundays. I'm not ill, but the events that are happening tomorrow are going to be quite trying and with it being the weekend we change our clocks ahead, I talked it over with everyone and agreed that I should rest this weekend and return to rehearsal on Tuesday night as per usual.
Which means that I will be able to post my unique category choices tomorrow for sure.
Which means I better get cracking and pick them as I haven't done so yet.

I just watched The Girl From Missouri. It still made it into the week of 1934 so I feel I can talk about it here and avoid the spammers in General Discussions.
I LOVE this movie.
Harlow, Barrymore, Tone, Stone, Pendleton everyone is one of my favourites.
Pre-code comedies/films are such fun and it is a short film at around 75 minutes or so (the recording was 1 hour and 18 minutes, I mean).
It is never boring.
Fun, fun, fun.

You know Limey, the introduction and conclusion of M had a very strong impact on me and I did write about that. I was told by someone that my reaction had nothing to do with movies and to go elsewhere. I was then told by others to keep talking. So I will. People who don't like it can put me on ignore just as I ignore others.
I agree that it does not really matter what the host wears and we are just having fun here.

My father had a beautiful falsetto voice very similar to Barry Gibb's voice. I wish I still had the vinyl recordings of my parents' music. But if Mom doesn't have the music, I fear the recordings are gone.

Interesting that it was a Beatles song that was performed at the 2016 Academy Awards for the memorial tribute. Blackbird was beautiful, not the overwhelming performance that sometimes happens. It was entirely appropriate.
My favourite Beatles song to sing is "In My Life."
My favourite Beatles album is Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

I think some of us who love 60s music even when it is not our own generation (I'm too young), started to think about that decade of music in general when we heard that Sir George Martin had died.
