    Yes, Kevin McCarthy did have un unfortunate similarity to the other McCarthy in that movie. He also played a very old man in an episode of The Twilight Zone who could not die. What was the name of Edgar Bergan's main puppet, the one Candice felt she had to share with her father? That wasn't McCarthy too, was it?

    Tonight's lineup of Merle Oberon movies will be what I'll be watching, although I think I will skip The Lodger since I've seen it several times and only recently saw the Hitchcock version for the first time.

    Third nomination for Betty White! I'd love to see her introduce any subject on TCM.

    The Great Ziegfeld is a unique film. Some people complain about winning best picture over its fellow nominees. It is a fascinating film. I'm quite a fan of Ziegfeld and his shows. I do find myself expecting quips. Of course there are none.

    Any movie with tasty food in it has to be paired with food for me as it makes me hungry. Alas, I have no chef here, so I have to compromise. I tend to watch movies with nachos regardless of the type of film.

    I would say what I thought of Lord of the Flies the book in high school which gave me nightmares, but I'm not allowed to -see Vicious Rumours thread.

    Oooh, I am unfamiliar with that silent. Next: This Canadian actor started out as a child actor and shot to fame in a couple of films in the 1980s. One involved a golden era of Hollywood actor who died in 2014. The other is based upon a Stephan King book. This actor died from drugs.

    Yes, there is lots of great jazz in Song of the Thin Man. Van Dyke had died by the time the last two were made, so they had a different feel to them. There was, of course, a different dog than Skippy playing Asta. He was cute in his own way. But there was something about Skippy. I think he is the same dog who was in The Awful Truth. Too bad Skippy bit Myrna.

    The Man with a Golden Arm was a one time viewing for me, although it is excellent. I've got a handful of movies of his I haven't seen at least once. That is, on my to-see list, not that I have recorded waiting for me. THE PRIDE AND THE PASSION was a film I could not finish. I understand he had a similar view about the movie.

    Great news. I have interesting typos too. Most, but not all of them are related to my hitting the caps lock all the time. Sometimes I fix this, and sometimes like Lorna I just leave them be.

    William Powell and Myrna Loy are my favourite non-musical screen team. They worked so well together as husband and wife that people thought they were a real-life couple and put them in adjoining rooms in hotels even though he was actually dating Jean Harlow. People always think of The Thin Man films when they think of the two of them and the first four are fantastic. But they made 16 movies together and only 6 of them were as Nick and Nora. My favourites, I think, of their non-Charles movies are Love Crazy and Evelyn Prentice. But this changes over time and I still have not seen all of their 16 films. I've seen almost all of them, but not all of them. I'VE BEEN REMINDED BY SPEEDRACER THAT I HAVE THE WRONG NUMBER OF MOVIES LISTED; THEY MADE 14 MOVIES, NOT 16 TOGETHER. OOPS! Edited for incorrect number of films.

    I would be enjoying this festival much more if it was not hosted by Sister Rose alone and instead had Ben interviewing her.

    People who have visited my profile page will have noticed that I am a Frank Sinatra fan. My favourite female singer of all time is Judy Garland - there are several threads about her and her co-stars. Frank Sinatra is my favourite male singer of all time. He is best known for his beautiful singing of course, and his friendships with a group of people sometimes called The Rat Pack, but according to MacLaine were actually called The Clan once Bogart died. I love his movies whether musicals or non-musicals. He was fond of saying that Gene Kelly taught him to act as well as dance as he was always a singer with a microphone before Kelly. Some of my favourite films of Sinatra's in no particular order except the first; SOME CAME RUNNING FROM HERE TO ETERNITY HIGH SOCIETY ALL THREE MOVIES WITH GENE KELLY THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE THE TENDER TRAP OCEAN'S ELEVEN PAL JOEY A HOLE IN THE HEAD Unfortunately, Miracle of the Bells was not available in Canada

    Now that 31 Days of Oscar is over, I am wondering about the memorial tribute videos or programming plans. I know that because Robert Osbourne has been ill and there has been scheduling conflicts that everything is being done in a different way this year, but I am wondering: Is there a memorial tribute video for George Kennedy or anyone else up yet? I don't see any reference to the topic on the main TCM page. I don't go to youtube unless I have an actual link as I can get distracted by cat videos. Any word? I know TopBilled, Barton, and Jakeem seem to know about these topics before others do.

    As vast as my seen list of film noir is, it is equalled by my yet-to-list. I decided that this was not a movie I had seen, so I have been looking through titles I've not seen (Asphalt Jungle I've seen of course). Is it The Glass Wall? I've never seen it.

    This is Fay Wray , The "Beauty Who Killed the Beast" in King Kong. The late silent movie she made with a flamboyant director , I am guessing here, is meant to be the same director would be The Four Feathers by Marion C. Cooper.
