I am a big fan of Robinson and Trevor. Even when there is a film they made whose overall quality I don't like, I enjoy their performances.

Now Tom, you know I do not need any extra help with fear of spider imagery.....

I believe Stranger on the Third Floor will be airing on TCM soon.
*note: this is in Canada only, since I believe it is replacing Mad Love.

That story you shared, Jakeem, illustrates exactly what I meant, however, when I said that people in the entertainment world have a totally separate life from the rest of us and can end up with no career due to exhaustion.
Playing the same songs all the time for the fans bores them and they - the artists -want to move on.
To give an example of this regarding favourite singer still alive:
People love to attend concerts by Smokey Robinson and hear all his famous songs. He recorded a new album of music and decided to sing the new songs at the concert. Fans threw things at him and yelled "Sing Tears of a Clown."

I didn't watch the movie version for the longest time, as I'd been overexposed to reruns of the TV series & to Matthau's grumpy old man personas - a mistake, as the film is excellent, even after repeated viewings & Oscar is actually one of his more likeable rascals.
But, with The Apartment back on, may I request fully paid up membership of the Anti Sheldrake Angry Mob? I can bring my own pitchfork...
You are given that membership. I have been a member ever since I first saw it and so has every Fred M. fan, including the lady who hit him with her purse at Disneyland because she had taken her children to see the movie. We, the Angry Mob, have meetings every time the movie airs.

Whilst pigeons are a nuisance & the pits,
I must request no pitchforking of the lady Brits!
;p
Great poetry.
I really do not want to pitchfork any of the characters in The Odd Couple ...I love The Odd Couple...

Hello, this is ColumboFan who used to go by the name GregoryPeckFan on this site. I am still me.
But I love to watch detective shows and there are a lot of MeTV.
This is a thread for anyone who wants to talk about metv detectives - what has been on METV, and what used to be on MeTV.
My favourite TV detective is: Columbo played by Peter Falk.
I love his car, his dog that never got a name except Dog, the stars on his show, the tune he whistled...
everything.

Having just re-watched The Odd Couple as it aired on TCM tonight, I can confirm that if any pitchforking of Felix is going to happen by me it is in the TV show.
But again, I'd rather pitchfork the sisters.

You know.........................................
That whenever anyone watching a movie covers his/her eyes so the images on the screen can't be seen this is pointless when the characters talk about what is on the screen so you till know it is there...
like in Badlands where there is a huge pet spider in a cage that Cato owns and Sissy's character asks about the spider....
But you watch the movie anyway because you are a fan of Martin Sheen and want to see everything he ever did....
which is also why you saw Apocalypse Now Redux twice on the big screen and own the dvd even though watching the violent scenes makes you feel sick

Re: Too Many Girls -
Well, it is a film I haven't seen and if thy met then, it is important to see the movie at least once.
Even though I did not enjoy Pigskin Parade, I had never seen it before and I do try to see all of Judy's films.
However, I am not sure when I will be able to get past Mickey Rooney in Thoroughbreds Don't Cry. I had to stop watching it part way through.

I love this movie, Speedy.
I thought that originally it was not going to be available in Canada on TCM - this was changed- so I was thrilled to find out that it was available on Youtube.
I saw it on youtube on a tiny screen during the daytime in case it would not be available to me any other way and loved it.
Then I saw it on TCM as it aired on Monday night and was thrilled to be able to no have to be stationary as I watched it.
I love gothic mysteries. I have read Ethel lina White's writings including the basis of this mystery.
Ethel did not do as many movies as her brothers as she usually appeared on the stage.
Next Monday the first movie that is airing is Rasputin and the Empress, the only time that all three siblings appeared in an movie together.
I've seen some of her films. I more familiar with Ethel and John. I love all three of them. Lionel is my favourite if I have to pick one. It is more to do with the fact that he made the most movies, however.

Oh, and Limey - regarding Fawcett and Jackson dying on the same day.
Ryan O'Neil was all set to do larryKingLive about her death when everything was cancelled and replaced with Jackson coverage.

Gee, I'm glad the only thing I had to
do to see Bowie live was buy a ticket.

Yes, My father took me to see the David Bowie concert shortly before I turned 24 as a pre-birthday present. It was fantastic. Everyone knew the lyrics to every song and were singing it along so you could hardly hear him singing. No one minded. It is the happiest concert memory I have and I am so happy that my father and I could attend that concert together.
Another event he took me to in Vancouver was the James Bond collection. A bunch of props from James Bond movies were at what was then called science World but is now called Rogers Centre. This was when Pierce Brosnan was Bond. It was really cool

Today I decided to change my screen name to ColumboFan. I am still and always a fan of Gregory Peck.
Oddly, I did not realize that the thread I started would show that they were started by COLUMBOFAN instead of GREGORYPECKFAN.
I was not trying to confuse anyone by changing my name.
I just decided to focus on my love of detective shows because I m considering starting a thread in the favourites section about TV detectives on MeTV.
-
Columbo, I'm confused. Are you the poster formerly known as Gregorypeckfan?
Yes, Swithin, I am the same person. I changed my on screen name because I discovered too late that people could if they wanted rename me as P**kerFan. I spent a long time picking out a name that could not be reworded to be dirty. then I got a PM from someone who called me that. I was horrified.
I have been intending to change to ColumboFan ever since, but there was too much going on in my life to do it.
I am always a fan of Gregory Peck.
In other words:
The famous line from thee movie version of The Odd couple which I am watching right now about Felix leaving a note on the pillow about them being all out of cornflakes. Oscar thought he was swearing at him. He was only leaving his initials.
I have always been a fan of Columbo. If this name does not work out, I'll try another one.

Absolutely no disrespect intended, but I think of playing/viewing an artists work when they pass on as more of a celebration of what they achieved whilst in the land of the living. By all means - spare a thought, shed a tear, maybe not party on like it's 1999, but a darn fine wake makes as good a tribute as anything else....
[edit: BTW, British comedy also just suffered a loss, with news of Victoria Wood's passing]
Yes, I read about Victoria Wood's passing.
This reminds me somehow of the fact that Farrah Fawcett died the same day as Michael Jackson and his death overtook all the news.
The day I found out that that Davy Jones had died I spent the next 48 hours playing Monkees music. I was heartbroken as Davy Jones had been my very first crush. Starting at the age of 4 I watched episodes of The Monkees and I pretended that all 4 of them were my friends.
The biggest regret I had was that I had NEVER SEEN HIM PEFFORM LIVE.
I did get to see David Bowie perform live in Vancouver.
I never did get to see Prince perform live.

7) This movie reunited George Peppard and Patricia Neal who had known each other in their days at The Actor's Studio.

I would least prefer to be trapped in the cellar because there is nowhere to go. At least in an attic I may be able to get through the roof....by destroying it.

Would you rather have to go to Walter Matthau as a dentist or Bob Hope as a dentist.

I hope the cameraman got everything he needed for the first take. I would hate to have to keep filming this scene over and over.

Duly, noted, Lorna.
Since I love the original, I will stay AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE FROM IT as I can.
