Another thing to keep in mind regarding the post I made that some people thought meant I was making fun of the flu or suggesting that Prince was on drugs:
Why is it only sad when someone famous dies of natural causes or a car accident?
Is it not sad that Judy Garland died at age 47 due to all the medical issues she had and the fact that she was NOT ALLOWED to rest at all? She had 5 doctors when she was under contract to MGM and she was forced to worked around the clock. She was given diet pills to keep her thin.
Is it not sad that River Pheonix died?
IF LIFE WERE WHAT WE WANTED;
Everyone would die of natural causes in their old age and have enough money to pay all medical bills.
I have already said that I am in mourning for Prince's death. I would be in mourning no matter HOW he died.
He was only 57. He wasn't 90 like Doris Roberts.

Lawrence:
Remember the Night is a comedy that takes place between the time of just before Christmas, at Christmas, and after Christmas.
Stanwyck is arrested for shoplifting. D.A. McMurray arranges for her trial to be held over because he thinks she will get aquittted and wants an expert to be brought in about hypnotism to steal jewelry.
He bails her out of jail so she won't spend Christmas in jail - a place where she would have gotten a square meal.
So he takes her home with him......................................

5) The novella by Truman Capote differs from the movie version and he did not want Audrey Hepburn to play Holly. However, many people love this movie with the exception of the casting of the Japanese neighbour.

Re: The Glass Key;
I have seen both versions.
I have a preference for the other, but I enjoy Raft.
Raft can be seen as I type this in Some like it Hot on TCM in a role that fit him too well....

Honeymoon Hotel - I watched this earlier as it aired today as it was in colour. It was brand new to me and it is hilarious.
It stars Robert Morley and Robert Goulet as roommates. Morley is about to get married with Goulet as his best man in an expensive wedding ceremony when the bride to be catches the two of the talking bout women guests and Morley is jilted.
So the two men go on the vacation that was meant to be the honeymoon. Only they don't know that everyone in the hotel are married couples.
silliness ensues.

Thanks for the info, Miles! Now I know ... the rest of the story. Good .. day! (Sorry, went into Paul Harvey mode)
I saw MONUMENTS MEN, and I remember that scene, but I guess I wasn't paying attention to the lyrics, because that anachronism slipped past me.
I have both Sinatra's versions: recorded the movie version lyrics to "Have Yourself a Merry little Christmas" and the newer version.
It is one of my favourite Christmas songs.

Well, no Sepia not really looking for corrections to urban legends though that would be okay too.
Just offbeat facts about films in any avenue that most people don't know about. Your submission definitely fit the bill though and thanks!
Thanks for clarifying CaveGirl that you have a much broader mind in your posts and that if people want to talk about music in movies that is okay, too.

I have made a few misquotes myself, so no big deal. I purchased the Esther Williams autobiography when it was released.Jeff had two daughters, and there was no reason to write about that secret. If a man wants to dress like the opposite sex, please do it by themselves. Someone close to me did the same thing, but failed to mention his desire to do this. The hurt and the secrecy were terrible.Living alone isn`t the worst thing in the world.
Thank-you very much Sapphire for your comment. It seems that not everyone on this site is looking for people to screw up and them quote them on it and everyone who does not like that person "like" that comment.
If more people on this website were like you, it would be a lot more fun.
Thanks for your thoughts on the autobiography. The autobiography about Jeremy Brett I mentioned not only talked about his mental illness and bisexuality that everyone knew, but actual things he did when in his manic states. The tragic thing about Brett is that at age 16 he dove into the Thames in the middle of November and got rheumatic fever and that left him with an enlarged heart which would shorten his life span just like with Bobby Darren.
Extra note about Brett: He was at Eton at the time and was showing off how great a diver he was.

How long after Freddie Mercury's death was it before people started playing "Another One Bites the Dust" again?
As for Prince, I think my two favorite songs of his are "Thieves in the Temple" and "Money Don't Matter Tonight", although I've probably got the title wrong on the latter.
I can't remember how long it was, but I imagine that some people listened to all his hits the day he died if they had them in their collection

I'm so glad that this thread exists so that we can jut listen to Prince clips and never mind the thread in General Discussions.
My favourite Prince songs are:
When Doves Cry
1999
Nothing Compares to You
Cream
And actually, he never wrote a song I did not love.

Here are a few films that Peter Cushing appeared in that were outside of the horror genre.
The Man In the Iron Mask (1939)
A Chump at Oxford (1940)
Vigil In the Night (1940)
Hamlet (1948)
Moulin Rouge (1952)
The Black Knight (1954)
The End of the Affair (1955)
Alexander the Great (1956)
John Paul Jones (1959)
The Naked Edge (1961, and Gary Cooper's final film)
Vigil in the Night was one of my favourite films. I had Carole Lombard's performance nominated for Best Actress in the performance thread.
I also loved Cushing in The man in the Iron Mask
I have The Naked Edge on my to-see list.

SURE they are, CF!
What?! Forget about the final sequence in that 1945 Fred MacMurray comedy "Murder, He Says" and when almost everybody falls into that hay-baling machine???

(...Marjorie Main and Peter Whitney being ESPECIALLY "pitchfork-able" in this movie!!!)
That is so right, Dargo. I forgot all about Murder He Says.
They do indeed all end up in the bales of hay machine - great bundles for the cops.
-
I see a lot of these posts just got deleted because they were getting personal.
I think that is just as well.
Let's be funny instead! A reminder that lots of pitchfork people will be on TCM tonight for jack lemmon evening - movies include Some like it Hot (George Raft), The Odd Couple (various charaacters) and The Apartment (Fred M.)
Another pitchfork contenders
Bales of hay -okay, that is not a fictional character

I know you don't mean this the way it's written, but it does appear that you're saying he was an addict. I think he was a workaholic that ignore his health. Flu is no joke when you're older.
Only people who are too upset at the death of their idol would read my post that way. Obviously he was a workaholic. Lots of people are in a variety of professions.
Not only the arts, but all jobs. Few people get enough sleep.

So...I take it nobody's gonna be partyin' "like it's 1999" for a while, eh?!
WHAT?! "Too soon" ya say?!! Yeah, maybe you're right.
(....sorry, but while I like much of his music, he WAS just about the WEIRDEST freakin' celebrity I used to board on those flights out of LAX back in my airlines days...so sue me, 'cause THAT'S the memory I have of the guy!!!)
Yes, Dargo it is too soon.
I just got a barrage of hate posts because I mentioned that some musicians - NOT PRINCE - actually have bad health for a variety of reasons.
Under no circumstances make fun of any person who dies unless that are at least 80 and were comedians.

TCM has been informed that Ringo Starr is refusing to be a guest programmer until there is a better quality copy of Frenchman's Creek airing on TCM.
TCM replied that they were not aware that anyone had requested Ringo Starr to be a guest programmer.
