  1. Earlier tonight I watched The Spiral Staircase as it aired on Turner Classic Movies. I had seen it online for free during the daytime trying to movie my laptop around so I could see the screen and not the reflection of the room. I have to say the movie is much more effective when I can watch it on TV and not have to change where I am.
  2. I've never tried to watch this, although I am quite familiar with the famous scenes. I may try to watch it someday. I do try to watch well made films at least once. It took me several times to try to see The Wild Bunch, but I eventually saw it.
  3. And who doesn't love a Prime Minister who takes time out of his busy schedule during his time as Prime Minister - not a former Prime Minister - to be an actor on a television show.
  4. Lots of people who were famous appeared as themselves, yes. But others played other roles. Former Prime Minister Stephan Harper comes to mind when he wanted to appear on Murdoch Mysteries as a policeman, not a politician.
  5. This one should be easy for Star Trek fans: What Star Trek movie reunited Canadians William Shatner and Christopher Plummer who had appeared in the Royal Shakespeare Company in Ontario together? What play were they doing when Shatner had to go onstage at the last minute due to Plummer's medical emergency?
  6. 506 I have wonderful teeth so I smile a lot. I notice that you don't smile.
  7. None But the lonely Heart as it aired on TCM as part of the Ethel Barrymore evening. Watching the introductions and conclusions of the Barrymore evenings has been wonderful. I love the movie, but this movie has always been an odd entry in the Cary Grant canon.
  8. Night People is a film that is rarely on television. I have only seen it once and did not have access to recording it.
  9. The new Disney animated version of The Jungle Book looks like great fun in the clips I have watched. When the first Disney animated version of this was released people thought that it was odd to have famous people look just like the characters or perhaps over-aware of the actors like George sanders, Louis Prima or Sterling Holloway. Now it is common practice no matter what company is producing it.
  10. Sometimes it cannot be helped. I know that Orson Welles was not originally supposed to be in The Trial but just dircet it. But the person who was supposed to play the part dropped out and Welles took over the role. Woody Allen often directs himself, and I must admit that I am not a fan of when he does this.
  11. I must admit I have never been fond of food humour that Red was famous for doing.
  12. Regarding Felix Unger: TV or movie - The movie version has that great line about cornflakes that is not in the TV show, so I would pick the TV show Felix to pitchfork. As for numbers after names, popular characters are often screen names and I imagine that there are any amount of 1, 2, 3 ...after characters in terms of long time members of this forum. And Mary Astor had a long and popular career. I love Edith Head appearing as herself in so many things.
  13. Well, I recently saw The Aviator and enjoyed the movie, especially Cate ad Leo, although I usually don't watch Leo's movies. I saw The Carpetbaggers years ago, and I cannot remember enough about it. As for Warren, |I know that Barbara Walters told him to his face that he was the most boring person to interview. As for target audience, maybe Warren thinks people who love to watch movies produced by Hughes will be interested in it - especially if they have not seen The Aviator...who this might be I do not know.
  14. I would have liked to have helped out backstage at this show, but time constraints made it impossible. I still would like to see the show.
  15. Happy 70th Birthday, Haley Mills. I have grown up watching her and her family. I love her sister being opposite Betty White. I am a big fan of her father.
  16. I hope to be able to attend a stage version of this musical nearby. It is coming up very soon. I've yet to see a live stage version of this.
  17. Thank you for letting us know. I never watched Everybody loves Raymond, but I have always been a big fan of hers ever since I started watching Remmington Steele. That television show has long been a favourite show of mine. It airs on MeTv. I hope that they will air a tribute to her and that it will air in all areas unlike the 90th birthday look to Day which did not air in my area.
  18. She won a lifetime Academy Award at the Governors Awards and was in attendance at the 2016 Oscars.
  19. Is Barbra planning to play the mother? This is interesting, because often in stage versions there are different actresses playing Gypsy from different ages that all look related, but Natalie Wood plays her at different stages. I hope Barbra does not think she will be playing Gypsy Rose Lee?
  20. Oh, I think that The Wizard of Oz will forgive you.....
  21. By the way.... I've never heard of the movie you have quoted. Is it a well known movie?
  22. I have not seen a lot of jungle pictures that aren't well known. I do enjoy Five Came Back and Back from Eternity which are the same movie but different versions. Anything with Sabu that that I have not yet seen I would like to see. Of course, there are all the Tarzan films, but I have not seen many of them besides the ones starring Johnny W. I try to see every version of The Jungle Book. And then there are jungle scenes in movies such as Bridge on the River Kwai
  23. Zorba the Greek - Anthony Quinn plays the title role
