  1. I think it is the same person that kept interrupting the flow of the Golden Globes show a while back and who did *not* amuse Meryl Streep.
  2. A spammer is on TCM in G.D. right now and is taking over......
  3. Yes, it was Carson. I do not know why I said Cavett. Must have been thinking of Cavett.
  4. Shelly Winters played all the characters, true. But that shows her what a great actress she was. I saw an interview she did with JOHNNY CARSON and she appeared with Oliver Reed. They got into an argument and she poured liquid over his head.
  5. The really odd thing about June and her marriage to Powell is that he directed her in several things and would call her "pumpkin head" on the set.
  6. Well, F.C appears to not be in the public domain as Clore said. But this copy certainly looks like public domain.
  7. I'm a big fan of Perry Mason. I love Barbara Hale.
  8. The ironic thing about Fred in The Apartment was that it was supposed to be Paul Douglas who played Fred's role. Then Douglas died. Wilder called up Fred and asked him to take over the role.
  9. I alphabetize my DVDs and I still have VHS. I never did get into Blue ray. As for multiple copies of movies. Due to boxed sets and buying DVDs of old VHS films I have more than one copy of; The 39 Steps I routinely PVR movies I own on DVD or VHS when they air on TCM or Silver Screen Classics (Canadian channel) so I can watchthem multiple times.
  10. If they had showed it once only - which is not what has happened I would agree with seeing I as I had not seen it before and am a fan of the writer. I want to see everything she wrote that was adapted at least once. But regarding public domain movies, the channel we have in Canada called Silver Screen Classics has what they call "Condensed Classics' and it regularly shows Public Domain movies cut down to fit into an hour with 10 minutes of commercials and a Svengoolie like commentary by two people appearing in black and white. I just cannot see TCM doing this.
  11. I missed it. Thanks for the review.
  12. 1. John Steinbeck appeared as himself to introduce the stories by O Henry in O Henry's Full House which included Richard Widmark. 2. Richard Widmark appeared in the film How the West Was Won with James Stewart 3. James Stewart appeared in the movie Firecreek with Henry Fonda 4. Henry Fonda appeared in the movie Once Upon a Time in the West with Charles Bronson. 5. Charles Bronson appeared in the movie The Great Escape with Steve McQueen 6. Steve McQueen appeared in The Towering Inferno with Paul Newman Next: Vivian Leigh
  13. X - Codename of Richard Attenborough's character in The Great Escape
  14. His performances are fabulous, but the characters played by *Paul Lukas* in most of the movies he made make me want to pitchfork him - especially in The lady Vanishes Fred McMurray in in The Apartment too. love the film, but Fred - well - he was a better actor than people gave him credit.
  15. 16. That is another reason to not accept it, yes. He did accept an honourary Oscar eventually. It is interesting that he did not win the Oscar for The Great Dictator - he would likely not have accepted that either. But since Speedy mentioned the time he was banned from the Us, I thought that I would mention the aspects of the movie which bothered Chaplin regardless of his nominations.
  17. Hmmm. I might take you up on that poster offer...
  18. Ha, ha, CaveGirl. I bought the DVD of Hitchcock, the movie about the making of Psycho. I have not seen it yet.
  19. Bonita Granville was in These Three with Merle Oberon
  20. Oooh, that is a touch choice. I would pick Audrey because she worked with Gregory Peck in her film debut. Next: Would you rather be an actor/actress on the set of a Star Trek movie, a Star Wars movie, or pay people money to avoid being cast in a science fiction movie?
