  1. Ya never know, GPF; ya might really enjoy the non-original Calamari version, particularly if it is deep fried!

Deep fried - probably not good for my acid reflux but then again, you have to eat something during the film.

Maybe we can start our own TCM food club where we pair retitled movie titles with food?

  2. Ladies only, CaveGirl?

I think it depends upon your age yourself.

I think at 40, men in the 70s and beyond are a bit too old for me.

If, however, you are asking can they still draw you in at the box office with their acting, well yes.   I think if Jack Nicholson were to make another movie -which is unlikely as he does not want to do this -I would buy a ticket to see it.

  3. There are two ways to consider how a movie can be a classic.   One is its age, the  other is its quality.  I prefer  movies made during the Golden age of Hollywood my favourite.  But I watch a lot of 4 or 5 star quality movies from 1970 onwards even if they are not my normal genre (eg. Apocalypse Now) because they are highly regarded.  And there are some independently produced films made since the start of this century that I consider classic because of their quality.

  4. Reply Number 100 to this topic:

I noticed that this thread has 99 replies to it, and I thought I would try to make the 100th reply before someone else did.  Only fitting, I think.

Gregory Peck is my favourite of actor of all time for his on screen work, his off screen work, and his commitment to his ideals.

I have a vinyl recording of  him narrating The Lullaby of Christmas on one side.  Loretta Young is on the other side narrating The Little Angel.  It's very scratching, but you  can still listen to it.

  5. I think you are lying, GPF because my palomino was related to Mister Ed and she said Ed was only ever smitten with a filly named Flossie and you can see her in the episode where Ed tries to find his mother and be reunited with her

With Mister Ed's mama, not Flossie!

Well, we all know how Hollywood stars like to exaggerate in their autobiographies.

  6. ARABESQUE :

A reminder and heads up that Arabesque will be airing at 9:45pm Pacific the night of April the 28th as part of a evening of Sophia Loren movies that kicks off with her 2015 Film Festival interview with her son.

The movie is more visually stunning rather than having any substance.  But the stars are fun to watch and you have to allow yourself to think "goofy"

  9. Mare Poppins was supposed to be a great western star.  She tested for all the great horse roles.  But  after she married Mr. Ed he wanted her to stay home.  So she spent her later years talking about the good old days and how, she always wished that she had co-starred opposite Randolph Scott or Joel McCrea.

  10. Hey, Larry.

Would love to pm you about stuff, but well, I disabled the messenger.  As you stated before:

James Coburn had arthritis in his hands and could not work for a long time.  You can see it in Snow Dogs.  He was a courageous man.

My favourite scene of his remains in Charade: he puts up a mirror to Charlie to see if he is breathing.

    Funniest Funeral EVER!

You never did tell me how old you are,.  I know you are a February baby like I am.  I imagine you are around my Mom`s age or generation.
