  2. Oh, no, you are not speaking to soon. I have her down as my winner. I am going to post my Actress list today.
  3. Robert Ryan is another actor from this era I love. Ryan, Mitchum, and Robert Young - the three Roberts - made Crossfire together. Great film noir.
  4. 6) This movie includes a scene where Milland in the throws of his disease believes he sees a mouse in his wall who is then eaten by a bat. The next day, the wall is without a hole.
  5. 2) Her parents are Judy Garland and Vincent Minelli.
  6. Feline Galore Boxed Set: 1. Gay Purr-ee 2. Catwoman 3. Batman - the Adam West movie 4. To Wong Foo, love Julie Newmar
  7. I recorded Thoroughbreds Don't Cry earlier from this month and it was new to me. I tried really hard to watch it for Judy. But Mickey irritated me so much that I deleted it part way through. I may try to watch it sometime when it is just on and not recorded, but well - Mickey overwhelmed it for me.
  8. It's really the only one scene that I mention here. The thing about Vertigo is, that Hitch added the character played by Barbara Bel Geddes. She is not in the book. There had to be a third party available to see Scotty at the end. I love this movie. But with my health problems I always see Scotty in the institution and think to myself - this could be me if I don't get out and do things. So I rarely watch it anymore.
  9. Spence: Mitchum and Peck both had small roles in the remake of Cape Fear. I prefer the original. But I saw the remake for Peck. He plays Cady's lawyer in the remake.
  10. THE GREAT MAN VOTES: 1939 I recorded this last week as part of John Barrymore's night on the spotlight of the Barrymores. Since our Favourite Performances is currently on 1939 I thought that I would watch it this week and I just saw it tonight. Even at this late stage in Barrymore's career and life he had magnetism. No, it isn't the Barrymore who was, but it is still a great film. It involves an alcoholic man who is the only voter in his district for mayor and has great influence. He has two children who admire him. He is a widower. The movie is full of children. many of them are annoying. But I urge those of you who often avoid films with annoying children (I tend to be one of them if I am not a fan of other artists involved in the film) to watch it anyway. Very timely. Great film.
  11. I have all Monty Python episodes recorded on PVR from The Sundance Channel. I don't really like them after John Cleese left, but I watch them all the time.
  12. You will love it. You know, when I first lost my ability to sing due to acid reflux in 2013 I did not want to live anymore. The only thing I lived for was singing. I could not even listen to Frank Sinatra anymore and I always listen to him. I did not know it was acid reflux. I thought it was a silent heart attack as women are told they can happen. So I spent a lot of time around the ER and got a bit of a reputation as a hypochondriac. That is the problem with symptoms being similar for several conditions and not having a diagnosis but going to look up medical information on websites. It can make you think you are dying in 2 months when you really are not. Julie Andrews said something brilliant after she lost her ability to sing following an operation on her throat. She said at least it happened after she had a career. I did eventually get my singing voice back after 8 months. I sang in the shower only. Today I sang the lead in church. I was the Caller in "I Hear the Prophet Callin'" The choir sang SATB behind me. I had to walk slowly up the aisle and up the steps during the song and turn to the congregation and continue singing. I did. I got a lot of compliments and Mom was beaming. One of the compliments I got was from a woman who told me that she appreciated the fact that I have problems with balance and I sang beautifully. The church rang with my voice. She said that I was the only person who could have done it. A lot of people feel safe when standing in a choir, but ask them to be alone and No.......they would rather be in the background. Today was a great day.
  13. This is a foreign films list, not a foreign actors list but:...... Favourite Ten Foreign Language Artists: Europe 1. Greta Garbo 2. Max Von Sydow 3. Ingrid Bergman 4. Simone Signoret 5. Igmar Bergman 6. Fellini 7. Oscar Werner 8. Fritz Lang 9. Sophia Loren -especially effective in her native Italian 10. Louis Jordan -usually did parts in English, but....well, I had to include him
  14. From Now On: Turner Classic Movies will be airing movies based upon whatever happen to be typed in the schedule. If someone with bad typing skills accidently types the incorrect word but spells a word that is an actual word that exists, THEN THAT IS TOO BAD. TCM must then create the movie that was typed out even if it does not exist. Due to typewriting errors, the following movies need to be written and filmed as soon as possible: 1. FRENCHMEN SEEK 2. THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOK 3. TO HAVE AND HAVE NOW 4. DR. JECK ALL AND MR. HYDE 5. TENT LITTLE INDIANS 6. GONE WITH TEN WIND 7. MARE POPPINS 8. STAR WART 9. THE YEARLINK 10. THE LONGEST WARD
  15. You know this thread title could be a great title for a murder mystery set at a theatre. Anyone who buys tickets there gets poison on their hands. .....
  16. 10) Tone appeared opposite Jean Harlow in the comedy Platinum Blonde. NEXT: LIZA MINELLI
  17. 4) The scene where Milland gets money from the lid of a container in the kitchen was included in the Steve Martin movie Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid.
  18. Chuck Conners is a favourite of mine. I love The Rifleman. Of course, he is great in a favourite Gregory Peck movie of mine: Designing Woman. And he appeared as a cowardly bad guy in another Gregory Peck movie: The Big Country. And he is also great in Support your Local Gunfighter.
  19. Well, The Light That Failed is at the Top of My To-See List. I did not know of it before.
  20. Well, you know, Eugenia, I am trying to imagine Burt bald, and you know what, I think he would look better bald.
  21. There are films I have not seen, favourite films I have not seen in years and favourite films I watch all the time. The Barrymores -all siblings - fall into these categories.
  22. You know what I love? People who never answer any of my posts except to make fun of my typing skills. What a boring life they lead.
  23. I watch Britcoms all the time. Of course as you have pointed out I am Canadian. I am also 3/8 British Isles. Doc Martin I think is a dramedy. I love Absolutely Fabulous.
  24. Yes, I would say that this is exactly correct. I only saw this tonight or I could have cleared that up for you.
  25. There is a supernatural aspect to Vertigo. I rarely watch it anymore because the ending is so sad anymore for me, but there is the whole idea that maybe Kim Novak was never in that hotel and Jimmy Stewart just saw her when she was not there.
