Okay. I was not sure, because a lot of the titles that aired in USA did not air here in Canada.

I love this upcoming list of movies. I own a dvd of The Cabinet of Caligari. Some of the titles listed I have seen, others I have not. As for the Nazi documentary maker Reifenstahl - didn't her work already air as part of the spotlight on women filmmakers?

4) As in the case of many of his movies, Elisha Cook Jr.'s character was killed.

504 I broke the toilet paper banner first. That means I win! What do I win? Free groceries? A makeover? I don't care. I left those men in the dust.

Port of Shadows is airing later this month? When? I would look it up on the schedule, but I am not a big fan of the new look. -
HARDLY ANYONE MENTIONS: *GARY COOPER ANYMORE???
GregoryPeckfan replied to spence's topic in General Discussions
I am not sure. SSC is owned by a parent company that separates it channels by era. SSC has titles from the silent era up until 1969. The Rewind Channel - which has commercials throughout movies - is owned by the same company and airs movies from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. -
I agree with you. I call it a masterpiece. No expert on foreign films, I just know when a movie is one that I will watch whenever it is on. Tastes differ between people, so I am just thrilled when a channel decides to do a variety of programming so there is something for all tastes. This does not always happen of course.

HARDLY ANYONE MENTIONS: *GARY COOPER ANYMORE???
GregoryPeckfan replied to spence's topic in General Discussions
Gary Cooper movies are on a regular basis here in Canada on a channel called Silver Screen Classics. -

In regards to Spence's thread, I think the reason why people mention Wayne over Cooper so often anymore is that Wayne was very vocal in his politics, his screen image, and in many ways you either love him or hate him. There a large number of Cooper fans. There are a large number of people who take him or leave him. I can't recall anyone having a strong negative reaction to him. My guess only a guess.

Great Performances That Did Not Win An Oscar
GregoryPeckfan replied to rayban's topic in General Discussions
When I first read this thread title I thought it would be about the several famous people who were not nominated for an Oscar, ever, and either got a lifetime achievement award or even did get one of those either. The list of names of people on this list is huge. Edward G. Robinson comes to mind. -

Day made a much better suspense film with Louis Jourdan. He loved playing someone other than his usual roles.
