Your Favourite Performances from 1929 to present are...
GregoryPeckfan replied to Bogie56's topic in Your Favorites
Princess: Morley only had the role in Marie Antoinette because Charles Laughton tuned it down. What a fabulous actor he turned out to be. The score to Robin Hood is excellent. I try to collect scores of as many films or composers as possible. -
Is it How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning which Irving Berlin did for troops in WWI? Irving Berlin is the one who played himself and sang the song If that is the one you mean

Who are you? Henry Fonda several times to Charles Bronson in ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST

Just wondered how many people wold understand the reference of my Bizarro award. -
Yes I know it was. But I wanted to post that it was an open thread in a separate post because it would be faster to read. That is what happens sometimes. That is also why I finished Limey's response in The British Are Coming even though he answered 2/3 of it already.

I'm not sure if this is correct or not, but are you talking about Marilyn Monroe is Some like it Hot? It's been a while since I have listened to the soundtrack, so I am not sure.

HITS & MISSES: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow on TCM
GregoryPeckfan replied to Bogie56's topic in General Discussions
I'm glad you brought this up instead of me, Speedy. Of course, me mentioning it first would have been overkill... I'm watching TCM all day Tuesday. Then I am very dutifully attending rehearsal Tuesday night as I am singing a solo on Sunday morning..... A full day of My Darling Greg. Whatever am I to do............................... -
ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST (1969) I watched this movie as it aired on Silver Screen Classics here in Canada. I think I have seen this movie 50 times? Fantastic western. I love the cast, the screenplay, the music, the scenery - everything.

HITS & MISSES: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow on TCM

For sure record The Trial. As a fan of Perkins, Welles, and suspense and film noir, this film will interest you. The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean is quite enjoyable. I did not care for Green Mansions either. But seeing it crossed off to-see films. Basically tomorrow I am recording movies I have not seen which I will either not be able to watch as they air. -

I watched it because I am a fan of both Loren and Perkins. I agree with your assessment of it. I'm glad I saw it. But it isn't what I would have expected from either star. -
Duff an Lupino appeared in the same episode of Batman.

Re: Cockney accent: I have no problem with British accents because I watch so much British mysteries. \It drove me nuts when I borrowed a DVD of To Sir With Love from a friend and there were subtitles. I had to tape paper over the TV so I wouldn't see them.

I've been wanting to see Little Miss Sunshine for a long time. Eventually I will see it. Thanks, NickandNora. As for Filmlover's take on the film he watched because of a review someone else gave, well.... I finally gave up on being able to appreciate why Blow Up was so important. I realize, however, that it is a famous film and the fact that people keep talking about it means there is something important about it. I haven't seen the 1929 film yet.

1938 UNIQUE CATEGORIES: Best Performance in a Hitchcock Movie, Male or Female: Dame Mae Whitty in The Lady Vanishes Best Swordplay Errol Flynn in The Adventures of Robin Hood Best Synergy: Basil Radford and Nauton Wayne in The Lady Vanishes Best Movie Star Making Performance By a Previous Non-Star: David Niven in The Dawn Patrol Best Animal Performance: Skippy the dog who is famous for playing Asta in Bringing Up Baby for every scene he is in. Most Forgettable Musical Of All Time Considering the Cast; Carefree - the only time I will be mentioning this Astaire/Rogers film. Best Lionel Barrymore Performance; Tough call for me among a lot of favourites. I decided on his performance in You Can't Take it With You. Best Bette Davis Performance: Jezebel Best Combination of two Gangster Actors: Humphrey Bogart and James Cagney in Angels With Dirty Faces Bizarro Award: When Tyrone Power was leant out to do Marie Antoinettte, it was expected that his role would be huge. Instead, his screen time was the equivalent of a supporting role and he was never loaned out to another studio again. -
I am watching Once Upon a Time in The West as it airs on Silver Screen Classics. I love this film. No deleting any PVR title for me today.

Keep Calm & Carry On--The British Are Coming!

The reason I added the title of The Invisible man for you Limey is so that if you were to post a new question without remembering it people would not be left hanging. -

Then I will answer it and let you post an new question: It is "The Invisible Man" who could not be seen even though everyone was looking at him. He was the mailman. The Mark Williams version changed the story in a big way.
