TEN LITTLE BOYS IN BOYS TOWN: A COMBINATION OF THE DELIGHTFUL MICKEY ROONEY MOVIE WITH THE AGATHA CHRISTIE TALE Mickey Rooney wants to dominate everyone in Boys Town to get the Juvenile award for 1938. He did not get the love he wanted from people in the performance thread. This made him irritated, so he decided to come back in the Father role that Spencer Tracey had done in a new movie where he kills off all the characters that audiences preferred over him in a new movie. He got a cast of ten boys together and gave them all names of the actors in the film that were better loved than he was as character names. Then he killed them all off one by one in his revenge. First to go was Bobs Watson. Then he decided to kill off the actor who's character was in love with the dog. Eventually he killed them all off. In his excitement he forgot that the play version of the Agatha Christie book which was the basis of the movies, everyone does not die. Instead, the final two survive. So he got in a big huff and decided to remake Breakfast a Tiffany's instead in the same role he played before. He got the razzie award.

When deciding who my award for my own Hitchcock category would be that I have already listed in my Hitchcock thread in the favourites, I did not bother to separate the two of them when I listed all my candidates from TLV. I simply listed them as the British gentlemen interested in cricket....

That's right, Lawrence. Those are the three people en route to American Bandstand and the names of the bio-pics about two of them. The Big Bopper did not have a separate biopic about him. He is best known by the song "Chantily Lace." Lou Diamond Phillips portrayed Valens in La Bomba. Gary Busey played Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story. The remaining part of the question relates to the name of the plane. It has the same name as the name of the song McLean wrote which I mentioned in my last post. The song was about them. For people of a younger generation, a movie that was of a completely different theme was recently made with the same title. It is NOT about music. But the title is the same as the name of the plane.

Thanks for explaining. Because people were talking about Ben getting the names of people incorrect I thought I couldn't be sure what Ben meant. I will look for the original.

Well, I am a fan of other actors in the film, which is why I couldn't choose from that film. I love Bob Watson, for example...

THE VIRGINIAN - I watched this last night as it aired on TCM. It was brand new to me. I have to admit, I was confused about the title when Ben started the evening about the theme being Wyoming, but well, There has been lots of talk of Ben already. I enjoyed this movie immensely and I do so love Joel McCrea in a western. I understand that this role was once considered for Cary Cooper. The time involved deals with a lot of the same issues that Shane does, but there is no child aspect to the relationship between the main characters and therefore seems like a completely different film. Beautiful scenery, great music, great acting and great follow to Shane. I spent the day and evening watching various westerns on TCM, MeTv, etc. Fun evebing

He had an interesting relationship with Paul Newman in Hud, too.

I saw the very ending of Send me no Flowers after I got home. That will likely be my Doris Day for the day........................

Thoughts on the posts since I left for church this morning: David Niven became a star because of Dawn Patrol. Once that film was released, he was a movie star. I think I will go ahead and mention my Juvenile Award today as well as Best Ensemble that I mentioned as I noticed that Lawrence had no winner. I don't know if it was because he couldn't break a tie, or because he didn't see any favourites. I had a hard time breaking a tie. For me, the Juvenile award winner goes to Freddie Bartholomew for various films. I decided to do this rather than look at a single performance. Had I done that, I would have chosen one of the cast of Boys Town, as soon as I could decided which was my favourite -which I couldn't.

Hint: Song about this crash includes the line "The Day the Music Died." The original Question after editing my comment about the last question: What musicians were aboard a plane en route to American Bandstand when it crashed and killed them? What was the name of the airplane? What two bio-pics were based upon them that referenced this crash?
