This director's parents were in the business but he considered an athletic career. That was cut short by a college injury, so he moved on to acting and then directing.

Great story and all new to me.
The current director is Paul Thomas Anderson ("Boogie Nights" and "There Will be Blood") and he helped out Robert Altman because of his heart transplant.
They both worked with great people and extracted some of the best performances from them.

Captain America - Not the good one. This one stars Matt Salinger as the shield-slinging super-patriot. Also with Ronny Cox, Ned Beatty, Darren McGavin, Michael Nouri, Melinda Dillon, Billy Mumy, and Scott Paulin as Red Skull.

Lawrence,
I don't remember this one.
I seem to remember a version from 10-15 years ago with a hot blonde daughter of Schmidt / Red Skull = maybe it was a made-for-TV movie.

Lawrence,
Thanks again for these challenging rebuses (or rebi?). I thought that was a Dove fudgsickle. I need to watch more commercials.

OK, but I thought we had exhausted all the Canadian thespians.

This Canadian actor was in a number of war flicks in his early (1970 and before) career. Some were dramas and others comedies.
Name the actor and 3 or 4 of those early war films.
