  1. Just finished watching "Finishing School" with Ginger Rodgers. Did Virginia and Mac sleep together during the cutaway to footsteps in the snow during the Chistmas visit scene? Was Virginia pregnant? Can anyone recommend similar movies? Really enjoyed this one.
  2. Just finished watching back to back "Four Daughters", "Four Wives" and "Four Mothers". Are there anymore film in this series or is that it? Really enjoyed them.
  3. I've seen the one from 1931 w/Clark Gable several times but don't recall ever seeing the one I discovered today w/Van Heflin from 1947. Always happy to discover a new film I've not seen from Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck, Ida Lupino or Jennifer Jones!
  4. Thanks! I enjoyed the film but was really confused. I couldn't keep who was who straight. Like I STILL don't know who "Ed" who married the teacher was. May I ask if you got the above info from the film or the book?
  5. Just watched this film on demand. I'm confused. I kept wondring whom Cora and Doris were and why they lived in Jen's family' s home. They didn't seem to be a part of the family. I actually thought JEN was the wife. Her dad was her husband aned all of the kids were theirs. When they had the argument over giving George the cow Cora had been promised and she says "he's your brother not mine" I figured she and Doris were borders. Then Doris says to Jen about George (the dad's brother) "you WOULD say that, he's your Uncle". So I was like ok, Doris is Cora's daughter and for some reason they
  6. OMG!!! This has literally been driving me crazy for almost 10 years!! PURELY by coincidence this past weekend I found and watched the movie! It was "The Shining Hour" starring Robert Young and Joan Crawford. I didn't even realize Joan was in the movie!! 😮 It was very good. I enjoyed it immensely. And that one scene I recalled.....the scenary in my was exactly as I recalled!!!
  7. Color me confused. I'm watching "I Wake Up Screaming". Fifteen minutes in, I realize I've seen this movie before yet the only thing I recall is that a young Aaron Spelling played a hotel phone operator (I had no idea he ever acted before I saw this movie). I keep waiting for him to appear but......imagine my surprise when he never does. The guy playing his part is completely different person. I'm confused. I google and find out that there were TWO movies made w/this exact same plot!!! NEVER knew that before. Has anyone else seen these or one of these movies?
  8. I enjoyed "Sunset Blvd" but I enjoyed this one just as much. I'm ready for my close up Mr. Deville...……..
  9. Well EXCUSE me for putting this question in the "wrong" thread SMFH.
  10. Anyone know the other movie I'm thinking of? Bette is a washed up drunken star and somehow she's stumbled across and cast and I think becomes a star again.
  11. I thought I'd seen every MAJOR movie she'd done but this is INCREDIBLE!!! It is sooooooo GOOD!!! I'd been passing it over because I thought I'd seen it before, had it confused w/another movie she was in where she played a washed up, drunken actriess that is stumbled across and put back on top but this is a completely different move and it is just......no words!
  12. I didn't know she was in "Stage Door" 😮 I've seen this movie several times and never noticed. I actually have it on my DVR right now! Gonna re-watch and keep an eye out for Lucy!
  13. Just watched Lucy in "Beauty For The Asking". LOVED the film and she was so beautiful! Firs time I've ever seen her in a serious role.
  14. 1. Did this movie really romanticize rape? 2. Did Catherine's friend, the one who hated Fredric have a lesbian love for her?
  15. On a Bette Davis binge now and recently watched Angela Lansbury in "A Life At Stake". I don't want to be mean but I absolutely can't see how anyone could ever have thought either of these women attractive w/their strange looks and ugly eyes!
  16. "If Stephen doesn't like something I'm wearing.....I take it off" (in response to "I wouldn't buy that if I were you, Stephen won't like it. He'll think it cheap"). Anyone know where this is from?
  17. For some reason I was thinking "The Rains Came" but that was set in India and I didn't think Joan's movie was.
  18. I liked "Queen Bee" as well but felt Joan was a little "mature" for the character she was portraying. To add to the list of movies I most enjoyed from her are "Humoresque", "The Damned Don't Cry", "Flamingo Road"......ah hell. WHo am I fooling. I love ALLLLL of her work. Not that keen on one can't recall the title but she is a prostate on an island or something. Very old like in the late 20s or early to mid 30s.
  19. I've read this somewhere as well. Not sure if it was IMDb.
  20. I LOVE the movie "Harriet Craig" w/Joan Crawford. Just stumbled across "Craig's Wife" and am watching it now. Didn't even know the former was a remake. Hope the original is as good as the remake.
  21. But how could you tell a child is insane? And if it wasn't while he was a child that whatever happened happened.....why was his untouched room that of a very young child? So confusing. But the movie was pretty good. I enjoyed it.
  22. What happened to Cord's brother? In one scene they show him entering a baby's room that looks as though it has not been entered into by anyone in years. He has a flashback where he's asking for his brother and his dad tells him he's no longer a part of their lives (not that he's dead). Cord breaks down crying remembering this event. Later there is a scene where someone mentions his brother, there's a conversation (don't recall what it was) and Cord throws a glass of alcohol into a mirror. In another scene b/COrd and his wife, the wife tells him he was afraid their daughter would inherit w
  23. What happened to Cord's brother? I don't think I missed any of the movie (although it DID seem to last 2-3 hours) but I never heard it explained what happened to his brother, like why was it even mentioned if it was not going to be explained. I hate when movies do this. At first I thought he died as a baby but then later it seemed as though maybe he killed himself later in life (when Cord threw the glass at the mirror when he and someone was talking about his brother ...I think his wife). THen it seemed like maybe the brother had mental illness as his wife said something to the effect
