It's a lock to win the Best Foreign Language Oscar catergory & of all the likely upcoming nominees I see him as close behind MARTY
-
A few others that used VENICE BEACH American History X, Big Lebowski, The Doors, Blast from the Past, White Men Can't Jump & more, matter of fact we all hung out at the basketball court a bit We had to touch the ocean there=(no ripples or waves though) so we could say we were in both oceans, growing up in NJ (TRIVIA/NOTE: A cabbie that took me once said Jeff Bridges & The Big Lebowski were his all-time favs & he deliberately went to Venice to try & locate Bridges who was appearing there somewhere on an anniversary of that terrific cult item & he not only got to meet his hero but took a picture with him)

DARWIN ALL THE WAY

Tarentino really impressed me the most with 09's great INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, he translated many languages & more, very rare for him I loved a couple of his other flix, but this was a massive stretch & Christolph Waltz in his first Oscar turn was brilliant as a Nazi

I went to it & thought it ok (**1/2) despite it garnering all these awards, plus will probably end up snagging 9 Oscar shots
-
I know lots would vote for THE GRADUATE'S famed ending though
-
What eventual heavyweight endings do we have nowadays though???

RIGHT BACK AT YA'

AGREED! It's a perfect motion picture & I went to a small theatre around '85 packed with what I thought would be young punks, only a buck to go & at it's conclusion they gave it a standing ovation
-
& yet how could I leave out both the beginning and especially the heavyweight finale of INHERIT THE WIND it made a huge impression on me as young as 15
-
Know II spelled that title wrong, but you fans get the idea Saw this twice td & very good (***1/2) Is this only the first installment though? Gregg Toland was the master
-
Scrawling over goldderby.com I think I saw our very own tcm host Alicia Malone among goldderby.com's experts or otherwise in predict the Oscar noms? CHECK IT OUT

Though now unlikely to score that 3rd Academy Award for it, a 6th nomination still seems likely & his first in the supporting race I hear a lotta feedback that he just wasn't Mr. Rogers here, but who would be closest? -
Like I said there a ton of all-time endings in film history & yet another in my book is the extraordinary 1975 MAN WHO WOULD BE KING
-
Man, man, o, man how could we all forget Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla???
-
we barely split here pal, plus it was anchored by a powerhouse per by Crowe
-

Though shut out of the Oscars that year at 0 for 7 & only made $28m,. it's not regared as an all-time great, matter of fact imdb.com voters voted it #2 only after The Godfather For the record & I knew it would in forecasting *Gump swept instead that year
-
WHOOPS, how can one ever forget the beginning of MEAN STREETS
-
