I'll try pal. & thanks again

Found them again.  Used to have them log-in on & in my files, but things are more then crazy in this house thesedays, Plus & I know it's depressing, been suffering from either a brain tumor or brain cancer for about a year or more now  Headaches are not only blinding but make all difficult to do too!

So your fav. picture is the superb 1947 "Crossfire" (RKO Radio)  Do you think Ryan deserved s. actor over whoi I BARELY woulda' voted for in Widmark in "Kiss of Death" that *Oscar year? as you know both only garnered their 1 & only shot.  Never truly thought *Edmund Gwenn in "Miracle on 34th Street" shoulda taken s. actor, but leading instead.

**** for the ladies you have *Judy Holliday of course with *Colbert as your runner-up

We truly split though on Best Actor here  BIG-TIME

& BD ANOTHER, BUT THATS HORSE RACIN'

    THANX

(P.S. ever briefly checked out ABOUT ME or Profile for TCM, I only picked my top 3 performers & directors & 10-11 for fav. motion pictures?)

  3. Man, man, o, man, you folks certainly are overcome/dominated by the....Asian fairy & nighly???

Most already know about *Forman, just saw that military man & actor Lee Ermey just went-(no notice of what yet though) he was only age 74)  I wrote co-star or really the star of '87's often magnificent Vietnam epic by *Kurick "Full Metal Jacket" ($46m.) Matthew Modine on twitter, something I rarely use, except writing MADONNA again, plus still surrealistically on other online avenues.  If those who recall Ermey was also in the powerhouse 1988 "Mississippi Burning" (made $35m.) & made his big screen debut in my candidate as the great war-film yet made 1979's "Apocalypse Now" "Dead Man Walking" many others plus his popular military program

    THANK YOU

Harry Anderson, the talented magician who became a three-time Emmy Award nominee as the star of the long-running NBC sitcom "Night Court," has died at the age of 65. He was found dead in his home in Asheville, N.C., where he had lived since 2006.

Authorities said no foul play was suspected.

"I was never really an actor, I was a magician," Anderson said in 2014. "By the time they realized...I had a five-year contract."

A magic enthusiast since his teen years, Anderson became a familiar guest performer on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" in the early 1980s. He was the guest host for the February 9, 1985 episode, which featured Bryan Adams as the musical guest.

    Oh, no!

Aw man, I'm so sorry to hear this.

My condolences to his family, friends, fans and everyone who loved him.

Rest in peace, Harry the Hat, you were my friend.

I am devastated. I’ll talk about you later, Harry, but for now, I’m devastated.

    Judd Apatow Retweeted Lance Ulanoff

I interviewed Harry Anderson when I was 15 years old and he was so kind, and frank and hilarious. The interview is in my book Sick In The Head. He was a one of a kind talent who made millions so happy.

Some of us are old enough to remember pre-Night Court when Harry “the Hat” Gittes would pop up on Cheers. RIP

Aw, not Harry Anderson. I was thinking about him the other day when they were casting the older actors for the new IT. And I also watch Cheers reruns every night. He was one of those TV actors who felt like "family" growing up. RIP Harry the Hat.

WOW! This was a surprise BIG-TIUME!  Never a fan or "B. Court" but still taken back & is this #2 after *Milos Forman?

Rampage (2018) - Goofy giant monster movie from Warner Brothers/New Line and director Peyton Reed. Based on the 1986 arcade video game, the story concerns a trio of animals (an albino gorilla, a wolf, and an alligator) who all become exposed to an experimental gas that causes genetic mutations. The animals grow to tremendous size, become very aggressive, and exhibit other, unpredictable changes. It's up muscle-bound primatologist Davis Okoye (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) and scientist Dr. Kate Caldwell (Naomie Harris) to find a way to cure and/or stop the creatures before they can destroy Chicago. Also featuring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman, Jake Lacy, Joe Manganiello, P.J. Byrne, Demetrius Grosse, Jack Quaid, Breanne Hill, and Marley Shelton.

This is nothing more or less than a 1950s giant creature feature gussied up with modern CGI effects and a bit too much crudity. Johnson excels at playing a walking parody of an action star, and he manages to keep a straight face while speaking cheesy dialogue. Harris does a reasonable job in a change of pace role for her, while Jeffrey Dean Morgan, as a shady government agent, seems like he's stuck in his Walking Dead characterization. I found him irritating, but at least one audience member in my theater howled with laughter after every line Morgan spoke. This is often dumb, it doesn't always make sense, and trying to apply any kind of serious scientific principles to it would be a fool's errand. But if you're in the mood for large roaring creatures causing loud destruction, you may enjoy this. Unfortunately, all I can muster is a (5/10).

I'll likely not go to this one, but it';s set in motion to be enormous, more ways then one too !  Maybe evensurpasses "The Rock's" "Jumanji" (over $400m. domestically)  & dig this sports fans CAN YOU BELIVE that slug Vin Diesel was actually voted #1 annual $B.O.$ champ last year by NATO??  Confident it will be Dwayne Johnson &for good reason, especially over Diesel-(Asbarso)from "SAVING PV. Diesel 3rdplace The Rock & The Ladies>1st place *Emma Stone  2nd Jennifer Aniston &3rd place according to "Forbes" was *Jennifer Lawrence-(NOTE: But after the staggeringly awful "mother" ($18m.) That's scheduled for release this weekend, April 6. But it won't be a major wide release, as in, it won't be coming to my town. You'll have better luck in the Tampa area.

Yeah see, since I've been going to between 36-60 new theatrical releases as a kid-(17-18) in 1982-(reviewed approx. 53 that year, an exceptional yr I personally rated 19 new flix 4 BIG STARS!   "E.T' "Tootsie" "The Verdict" "Sophie's Choice" "Das Boot" "Diner"-(my ma & I even stopped in Fells Point in Baltimore to check out that Diner, all locals said it was just a mock-upon though & gone) on our way from NJ to this god forsaken stage of FL), Did get to get shots in from of the WH-(Reagan was then pres.) others for '82 that I deemed great>"World according to Garp" "Road warrior" "Black Runner"-(way ahead of the pack on this one huh) & "Pryor: on the Sunset Strip"-(though his '78/79 concert even greater)  & the 8 time sweeping *"Gandhi' almost entirely great for me anyway. Back to the pt studios release newstuff in limited release & about 2 weeks go wide) 1982 Oscars were also my debut yr at trying to predict the winners & frankly, did rather lousy. Actually thinking the best would win "E.T' vs. *"Gandhi  GO FIGURE

    MY FAV. CURRENT ACTRESSS:

"Marvelous Michelle' my personal 2nd fav. actress this era Ultra-close call at #2

& I know this little lady has her detractors but I've been into Winona Ryder since 1989 #1st

HOWEVER MY TOP 4-5 CANDUDATES AS "ALIVE"

1st *MERYL STREEP-(now also my candidate as the all-time greatest actress & I separate her or any others political feelings) -(FUN/FAX: John Cazale-(l935-78) knew *Meryl from NYC & she was doing Sakespeare n the park & even ime, & he told all he knew the greatest actress ever. Well, they did the 1978 5 time *Oscar sweeping *"THE DEER HUNTER" together of course & then living with Cazale she literally nursed him at home until his early death)

2nd *CATE BLANCHETT (already scoring 2 statuettes & only by the age of 40 something. & 7 nods td, played everying from *K. Hepburn, Elizabeth twi,Bob Dylan & many more &just so far!

3rd *KATE WINSLET (another limey lady & also earned 7 noms & only 1 victory td almost a lock to someday "WALK-DOWN-THE-AISLE again too!) (P.S. my little gurl Winona idolizes her BIG-TIUME!)

(that fellow movie buff & even went to more new releases than myself (Frank) sadly had never visited there nor FLYNN's more then legendary MULHOLLAND DR residence, I tried on the 5 & 1/2 hr tour bus but the tree people entrirely taking over the plan (Torryson, place MULHOLLAND, DR.) Frank's other top favs ever-(I know top off the topic, sorry) were: *"LAWRENCE OF ARABIA": *"BEN-HUR" & the other actors besides the Australian *C. & 1947's "Egg & I" is fun jazz (***-out of four) of course introducing Ma & Pa Kettle, for which Main snagged her sole shot at a s. actress *Oscar. (TRIVIA: Did anyone know-(except probably for TOP & about 3 others I always considered pal o'mine, Kilbride was hit by a car on Yucca in '64 & killed)

Thanks Spence. I have Claudette Colbert listed as my second favorite actress (if you click on my profile you will see my choices using the About Me tab). I feel she gives us consistently high quality, regardless of director, costars, studio production values or genre. When you watch any film she is in you are guaranteed a certain level of excellence.

GOCHA!  Did know your all-time actors, actresses, etc  though forget her as a runner-up, who was A No. 1?

TO TOPBILLED, I'm certain you know this but many others do not, yet anyway  Heck, I didn't even know it until  my first vacation to what is left to an empire  called HOLLYWOOD  I was lucky enough to be able to stay at exact same motel on all (3) times-(777 N. vine) & just about a stone's throw from PARAMOUNT PICTURES, but until actually visiting it on a tour I didn't even know the legendary RKO RADIO & PARAMOUNT shared exact same lot! They don't like to tell visitors about the old RKO side though, despite it's entire architecture on RKO's old side is literally stepping back into the mid 1930's. Even it's once front entrance-(which I could easily see & get pictures of it) was RKO's original frt door, now used as PARAMOUNT'S SIDE. All my books say *K. Hepburn used to eat lunch daily in the '30's when she was voted $B.O.$ poison on it's stairs. I kept inquring the tour guide was a that the s. stage where "KANE" was shot & he'd say the certain one's, though most of "KANE" was shot at Culver Studios-just down the street) from what was Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer-(now Sony) Culver is another huge story in itself, they don't allow tours, though *"GWTW"-(burning of Atlanta, & all fans can now see through it's gates is the facade of *"WIND'S" massive with mansion) "KANE" "KONG" *"REBECCA" "DUEL IN THE SUN" "SPELLBOUND" "LAST OF THE MOHICANS" (l936)-(TRIVIA: *Selznick's reportedly used to walls of "KONG" "MOHICANS" & his "LITTLE LORD FLAUNEROY" to burn up Atlanta) others shot behind it's gates were: "BUGSY" "R. BULL" "A FEW GOOD MERN" "THE ROCK" "BEETLEJUICE" "MATRIX: TRILOGY" & tv-series  "ANDY GRIFFITH" "UNTOUCHABLES" "I LOVE LUCY"-(she bought out *Selzinck), "BATMAN" "STAR TREK: PILOT" & a ton more.   (P.S. & typically they plan to tear down the iconic RKO Globe???)

    Here's a quick list of 10 must-see Colbert titles:
    Screen Shot 2018-04-10 at 3.43.51 PM.jpg
    1. IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT (1934)..directed by Frank Capra, a sleeper hit that earned her an Oscar. It's probably her most well-known film, one I'm sure you have seen.

    2. IT'S A WONDERFUL WORLD (1939)..directed by W.S. Van Dyke, an MGM mystery comedy that casts her as a screwball heroine. She's very funny in this one, and it was the only time she costarred with James Stewart.

    3. MIDNIGHT (1939)..directed by Mitchell Leisen, a modern day Cinderella story; the first of three she movies made with Don Ameche.

    4. DRUMS ALONG THE MOHAWK (1939)..directed by John Ford, her first picture in Technicolor; she costars with Henry Fonda in this well-mounted Fox period drama. TCM plays it once or twice a year. It's excellent from start to finish.

    5. THE PALM BEACH STORY (1942)..directed by Preston Sturges, a raucous comedy with Joel McCrea. I think Colbert is better as a dramatic actress but she does have a flair for comedy, and this film proves it.

    6. SINCE YOU WENT AWAY (1944)..directed by John Cromwell, an overblown wartime epic from producer David Selznick. But she's wonderful as a home front wife waiting for news about her husband while she struggles to keep life as normal as possible for her two daughters. Colbert received an Oscar nomination for this.

    7. TOMORROW IS FOREVER (1946)..directed by Irving Pichel, another wartime drama. She plays a woman who lost her husband (Orson Welles) in WWI, and now might lose her son (Richard Long) in WWII. It gets a bit soapy, when Welles comes back from the dead using an alias. By this time she has married handsome George Brent. It's a very absorbing drama and Colbert is perfect in it.

    8. THE EGG AND I (1947)..directed by Chester Erskine, a Universal comedy that made gobs of money at the box office. She and costar Fred MacMurray made quite a few romantic comedies together and this is probably their best collaboration.

    9. THE SECRET FURY (1950)..directed by Mel Ferrer, an intense woman-in-peril drama. In this story she marries charming Robert Ryan, but he is up to no good and her life is soon in danger. The ending is very dramatic. You might find it on YouTube. Otherwise TCM airs it once or twice a year.

    10. THUNDER ON THE HILL (1951)..directed by Douglas Sirk. We've already discussed this one.

Top, prettygood one pal,  obviously your fa fan of *Claudette-(ranked #12th place by AFI in 1999 survey & poll) I like her as well, but by no means among my all-time top 10 fav. actresses. & I think you'll agree *Claudette never really deserved her sole *Academy award for '34's sweeping *"IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT" especially over non-contender *B. Davis in "Of Human Bondage" though. Plus another non-nominee that yr was Lombard in Hawks brilliant screwball comedy "Twentieth Century" & the never better John Barrymore for leading actror, but as *B. Wilder said about his own "SOME LIKE IT HOT" not winning any major statuettes IT WAS A COMEDY & during that glorious Studio-System Era, the peers like Gangster ole in the leads would never win a major *Oscar?

(NOTE: For TCM-ITES, nxt time you catch one of her pix or any others apparently *Colbert was very sensitive about being filmed on left side of her profile, even often going out of her way to make positive only her ride side was mainly filmed)

My own favs of hers: (only the top 5)>

    1st *"IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT"

    2. "SINCE YOU WENT AWAY" (*Max Steiner whom is constantly voted by us Studio-System/Golden age Fans as thee A #1 film composer ever  This being only his (3rd) & final victory???)

    3. "PALM BEACH STORY"-(ridiculousy  *Sturges only took home 1 singe "GOLDEN BOY" for the good but not great 1940 "The Great McGinty?")

    4. "BOOM TOWN" (l940 M-G-M) (This was reportedly among Mayer fav pictures, along with "THE HUMAN COMEDY" "ANDY HARDY" & L.B.'s ideal lady & actress was *Greer Garson & he & *Lionel Barrymore had a true friendship & as almost all say even *Lionel Mayer would actually get the arthritic great actor cocaine-(benzadrene)-probably speeled it wrong) for his ongoing pain, saying though he had no idea how he scored it for him though? & *"The Great: Tracy" always also voted *Lionel as his hero & acting idol)

& 5th "DRUMS ALONG THE MOHAWK"

(& MORE TRIVIA: her Best Actress competitoirs for '34 were> Norma Shearer, "The Barretts of Wimpole Street & the tragic Grace Moore in "One Night of Love"_

I've lost count of how many times the website schedule has been off.  It'll list a 154 minute midnight movie and show the next one as starting at 2:30.  It's not that big a deal if you're able to watch it live, but it can sure mess you up if you're trying to record consecutive movies overnight and you want to put them on separate tracks.  The mixup with Greed was only the latest example.

IMO the problem is that there's no single person to contact about these screwups, some of which can still be listed on the website right up to the point where the movie has begun.  In fact if you look at the website's schedule for last night, Solaris is STILL listed at 2:15!

Bottom line, folks:  If you're looking to watch anything on TCM, check your TV's program guide rather than simply assuming the website knows what it's doing.

Know your not talking about *Clooney's mediocre (**) remake right?

  15.    I rarely give a fiolm the full four starting rating, especially thesedays wherethere is generally only one new release

But 1975's marvelous "Sunhsine Boys' is one for this viewer, Loved this for decades & (TRIVIA: *G. Burns role was originally meant for his pal Jack Benny (l894-l974)   Also, *Matthau was actually 24yrs longer then *George

Snagged *Oscar nods for Best Actor(Matthau) S. Actor *Burns, of course won& for yrs was an official *Oscar record holder for being aged 79-(when it was released not when he won "THE GOLDEN BOY" in 1975 though. That honor still belongs to *C. Plummer at 82 in "Beginners" (2011)

Also was up for Art-Direction-(now Production Design instead?) & Neil Simon was surprisingly only ever up for (3) writings noms "0dd Couple"-(my fav of Neil's) this & "Goodbye, Girl")

Many reviewers of the era compared what is easily among the all-time greatest films 1948 "TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE" (WB) to "GREED" (P.S. I don't agree but *Bogey told *J. Huston he considered it a good Western after filming, who else thinks it an Adventure?  Same goes of *TRACY'S 1955 heavyweight "Black Rock" many rate that an actual Western though?)

    THANK YOU

  17. Could never get through all of "GREED" &I did see where what I saw was magnicent filmmaking    A ton of critics have always viotyed in in the top ten all-timers silent or no

But, my top Silent Pictures are:

1st "MODERN TIMES"-(United Artists)=(barely cite it over below "CL" due to *Chaplin's use of "Smile" man that grand finale!!!  If *0rson starred, produced, wrote & directed, *Charlie got him beat in doing all that & even composing his own scores)

2nd "CITY LIGHTS" (l931-UA) (another all-time great finale by "The Little Tramp"

3rd "THE GENERAL" (l927) (most vote this as the tragic B. Keaton's mt. summit, however I almost rank "Seven Chances" & "Steamboat Bill, Jr" on par)

    4th "THE GOLD RUSH" (l925-UA)

5th "INTOLERANCE" (l9l6) (next time check out Hollywood, blvd "Dolby Theatre" (was still "The Kodiak" when I went there in '99 & 05 though also called "Hollywood & Highland  & it's huge Elephants outside, obviously taken from this Griffith masterpiece) & along with his 1915 "Birth of a Nation" were the very 1st big event pix 24yrs priopr to the legendary *"GWTW")

6th fav. of mine silent era "THE CROWD" (l927 MGM) (Due to L.B. Mayer creating the Academy awards, he had them fixed for first few yrs-(most of all after this was 1936) He despised depression pix even if they were from his Dream Factory & wanted his studio to vote for *"Wings" instead & it worked)

7th "PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC" (l928-France) (Maria Falconetti delivers what may well be thee finest female portrayal her in cinematic history! Though don't know why the *AMPAS completely ignored her & it that year?)

8th "NAPOLEAN" (l927-French) (Abel Gance's bio of the legendary warrior & shot on many cameras, etc Yet another like #7 that was completely snubbed by HOLLYWOOD?)

    9th ??? for now

The last time I saw Willis give a performance was in 16 Blocks in 2006. Ever since then he's just been cashing his paycheck. I once had a lot of regard for him as a performer.

"Death Wish" certainly hit the deck & is among his biggest flops
