  1. Great again LawrenceA, overall for me is Natalie Wood Garbo *Katharine Hepburn & the greatest I've seen> *Streep, Garbo, *Kate Hepburn but the majority of critics usually vote for *Bergman
  2. At least "KANE" lost to a magnificent pic in *Ford's *"HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY" (P.S. though *Ford always thought "Sergent York" deserved to sweep)
  3. the superb "Sullivan's Travels" is another many cite as a 1942 release?
  4. I know this is old, but "KANE" truly is the greatest film I've ever seen! Not especially my personal favorite though
  5. How about "THE GRAPES OF WRATH?"
  6. 4 stars for including "WAY OUT WEST!"
  7. The *Academy makes things confusing about "Snow White..." though by awarding it for '38 My own choice "CAPTAINS CURAGEOUS" & once again his peers snubbed Cary Grant for "The Awful Truth" of even a nod Saw *"Zola" a couple times, but is slow & dated compared to some others now
  8. I can't remember it's shorts though as much as the all-time great animated features Superb work by James Stewart
  9. To Princess of Tap, you also know Mongo he & I go way back to about 2000 & even compiled our own "Alternate Oscars" But we lost touch for some reason? He also lived down here in FL
  10. & not even up for BP Oscar that year???
  11. & I saw before that *Kubrick pretty much shot a lot in a bowl of somekind
  12. The late Gene Siskel rarely would pick has A #1 all-time favorite film, but when pressed he called this his Desert Island choice
  13. this Asian spam seems to have grown, huh It's all over the place & seemed to have stopped for awhile
  14. We do split on remake-(or was it technically the 3rd?) reboot of "J. Book" I think it's marvelous!
  15. Saw this several times over many yrs & still a bit underrated with Robert Ryan in whats arguably among his top 3 best performances! Again inside RKO
  16. & have wished since 1994 they had the rights to *Disney's classics & Golden Age Era animated features But strangely still can't even broadcast *"THE GODFATHER FLIX?"
  17. In all fairness to TCM, they simply run out of films to air as well
  18. Said already with overnight Nielsen ratings to be the lowest in it's history of being aired on television-(debut was in 1953 honoring 1952 cinema) A lot may have to do with alienating middle America ahead of time, thinking they were gonna' be lectured about pc &* this "Me Too Movement?" Highest rated & I always believed it's the films up for the *Oscars that drew the audiences 1997 the year *"Titanic": ($670m. domestically) & swept a tremendous & record tieing (14 statuettes)
  19. There was an online rumor a couple yrs ago that he contracted Alzheimers? Plus, he said he retired from film acting after the flat (**) 2010 release "How Do You Know"
  20. Surprisingly the politics were fairly low key as was the show But the actual winners to this longtime pundit were no surprise & I hit 7 out of the top 8 races on the $money$ & overall 19 for 24 "Get 0ut" taking Best 0. script was asinine though & most I know agree that the AMPAS has really lowered it's bar & it kinda' started for 2009, with 8 to 10 BP contenders & this prefferential ballot & now, pc Plus no heavyweights like *Nicholson, *Hanks, etc As 2 time winner *George Stevens-(l904-l975) said of his tremendous & 6 time winning 1951 classic "A PLACE IN THE SUN" "We Will really Know Just How Good This Picture Is In 20 Years" UNQUOTE
  21. Yet another cool thing she's done is buy her dad-(Anthony Silvio Ciccone_) (1931-) about 3 of the still-standing wine vineyards up in Michigan he personally still works-(it's website though makes nada a mention of her?)
  22. Hey TopBilled, actually she really hates being called Madge, but her fans & such still call; her that? Hugely split with Jakeem ^ you though BIG-TIME! in regard top her actual force as a singer If you ever get the chance & a few extra minutes search for her pure vocals of the legendary number "Li Vie en Rose" of course originally done by Edith Piaf, but in 2015, Louise really hit some new & massive highnotes with it. Nothing like her early pop songs & vids at all As well as "Live to Tell" a song she was robbed of an *Oscar nod for from, the powerful 1986 fact based film "At Close Range" (***1/2-out of four) It's also her own personal favorite of all her numbers. She has won 7 Grammys to date Ever have the opportunity to see her though in her mammoth epic concerts vs. the videos a 180% difference & I've never witnessed an entertainer put on a stage music show like her Best Example is the 1990 "Blonde Ambition Tour" STUNNING & SHE'S LIKE THE ENERGIZER BUNNY! & 2008's -(she was amazingly 50 here) "Sticky & Sweet Concert and Tour" However as an actress, she still has one note, sadly. I'll never tell or mention though & her very first feature film is so awful words cannot do it justice 1979's no budget "A Certain Sacrifice" Her all-time heroines are both Marilyn & Dietrich. & unfortunately the only single image/photo of her with *SINATRA is when all celebrated his 80th birthday party in December of 1995 & man, he ;looks just awful!
