  1. Strangely no takers on here, huh?

& need info on tcm backlot members-(just got mine about a week ago)

Now, do they send all members a t-shirt & box containing lots of data & what does it mean to have a 30 day trial bases

If they send all of that stuff, does that mean your only 30 days or permanent?>??

    PLEASE ASIST

  2.    "White Heat" just ended again awhile ago & immediately I was reminded that his dynamic Cody Jarrett wasn't even up for another *Academy Award!?   It's screenplay was though

He didn't enjoy playing gangsters, calling it "NO STRAIN" so it was his concept to make Cody nuts

&^ for that matter Margaret Wycherly shoulda' also been in the s. actress race & yet another powerhouse score by *Max Steiner too!

The official  Best Actor nominees instead that year were>?

*Broderick Crawford won for "All the King's Men"-(A role offered to the *Duke" of all people)

Richard Todd, "The Hasty Heart"-(NOTE: woulda & shoulda been Jim's slot instead)

    Kirk Douglas in "Champion"

Gregory Peck in "12 0'Clock High"

& John Wayne in "Sands of Iwo Jima"

    YOU BE THE JUDGE???

    & I THANK YOU

(P.S. most may not know this but fmr U.S. president Ronald Reagan's movie idol was *Cagney)

  3. & I must cast a few candidate for my mother

*"Dances With Wolves" (l990) though a couple of her favs are too long for broadcast)

*"Gone with the Wind" (l939 Selznick/MGM) (now ridiculously being banned from theaters???)

    "Yankee Doodle Dandy" (l942-Warner Bros.)

& if time the 1992 version of "Last of the Mohicans"

  4. This got deleted for some reason, again? I just wanted to throw my hat in & give my own top four favs if I wre ever a tcm "Guest Programmer"   Just now finally able to log back in & after 5 tries to tcm moderator?

Just  wanted to throw my fedora in & list my own top (4) if I was ever lucky enough to be a "GP"

1st & foremost *"The Godfather" (l972) however & still for some reason the network doesn't have the legal rights to broadcast it?

So here goes  "Kane" (l941-RKO Radio) (I agree with the masses & it truly is thee greatest motion picture ever made!)

"Captains Courageous" (l937 MGM) (even *"The Great: Tracy" wrote in his diary that this & "Nuremberg" were his best films, but barely over the superb 1955 "Bad Day at Black Rock" (M-G-M))

"Some Came Running" (l958 MGM) (not *"The Chairman's" best of his (58) but I just like it best & *Scorsese ranks this among his all-timers)

& "Inside Daisy Clover" (l965) (far from Natalie's finest, that honor must go to 1961's "Splendor in the Grass" But I just can't stop watching her in this one)

THANK YOIU & WELCOME ANY COMMENTS

  5. I somehow lost the entire list that I think our great pal topbilled was kind enough to send me, I just personally wrote him, but asm not certaion he will get it again, so I;m asking again her

PLEASE ASSIST & I WIUSH I HAD EACH "GP'S" TOP 4 PICKS TO AIR, BUT THATS ASKING A LOT

THANK YOU & TO TOPBILLED, PLEASE L:ET ME KNOW IOF YOU GOT MY PERSONAL MESSAGE ON THIS TOPIC

Would very much enjoy seeing Rex Reed as a host, or hosting various segments on TCM.  He was on the talk shows a lot when I was growing up, and my mother and I got a kick out of watching his witty, bitchy, wise comments from Merv or Johnny's couch on movies and movie stars, or better yet, his own life.  Maybe he's said a few undiplomatic things in recent years, but as the decades march on, don't we all?  I'd be happy just to hear him talk about life at the Dakota.

For me he will always be relevant.  I can imagine him discussing The Women, various Mitchell Leisen movies, or his 70s favorites in that wonderful voice, waiting for that zinger sure to offend the weak of heart.

    YUK!

NEAT, don't care fir her, but back when I first starting to study cinematic history & somewhat pasying attention to the *Oscars-0(around 1978/79) Her magazine was IT back then

She might be both a "GP" & a host-(especially the former)

She'ws the one that insited in her mag that *Warren & his marvelous 1978 "Heaven Can Wait" would sweep  Wonder how she felt when it only took home Best art-Direction-(for the heaven sequence & "The Concord")

  8. To author, you must be either joking or or playing with us on this topic!?

This man is without peer thee single most despised film reviewer in history & by anyone I've ever even mentioned him too

He's a king snob-(to put it mildly) even had NATALIE on another of his short lived shows & said very negative things about her latest movie 1980';s "Last Married Couple in America" (**) & about it's cast, save her & she's always been the sweetest no matter what, but for the very firt time I could see her getting a wee bit angry!

Of all all-time movie reviewers-(also a massive snot there too!)

He is "THEE SINGLE MOST HATED!"

Complete opposite on thee finest ever> James Agee-(l909-l955) (not only arguably the best, but wrote the scripts for "A. Queen" & "Night of the Hunter")=-(Aghee always voited for "City Lights" "Duck Soup" "Kane" & "Treasure Sierra Madre" as his favs flix)

*William Goldman-(l931-)( SOMEOINE, IS HE STILL WIUTH US BY THE WAY?)  He wrote for "Premiere" periodically & was great at just movie reviews, but just knowing the *Oscars.) (he said he's all-timer was always"Gunga Din")

Of course Roger Ebert -(l942-2014) & Gene Siskel-(l946-99)=(WHATS LEFT TO SAY?) (won't list all the dymamic duos' fav. fiulms, exceot Ebert chose "Kane": the most & Gene refused to say, until the end & called "2001" his "Desert Island Choice" Ebert's hero/idol was MITCHUM by the way

& today Leonard Maltin (l950-) for many reasons, he once wrote me back from TV's ET & with it's logo on it on his top ten all-time fav. pix & I';ve purchased his annual movie book every yr since 1987, getting his very last next month y the way & unlike most contemporary critics, Leonard adores-(like our own Mr. 0sborne) Hollywoods Golden Age/Studio-System the most!  For trivia facts keepers, Maltin's top 10 that he snail-mailed me around 1987> *"Casablanca" "M. Falcon" (l94l), "Kane" "Singin' In the Rain" The 39Steps" ('35 version), "Dumbo" "His Girl Friday" "A Night at the 0pera" "King Kong" ('33), "Modern times" & "Swing Time"  His idol is: *Charles (Spence) Chaplin by the way & I match his top ten by (5)

& now these so-called critics have turned rightwing political? Michael Medved being the most obvious

THANX & PLEEESE NO MORE REX REED-(ever see him in one of the worst films yet made 1970's"Myra Breckinridge?")

  9. I'm really dissmayed again though that they hired "Mr pc Kimmel to host!?"   Sure wish Crustal would come back, Letterman again-(he last gave it the college try foir the '96 ceremonies), Jimmy Fallon, Conan 0'Brian-(though I have a personal rule that a host should have appeared in at least 1 theatrical release) Letterman was in a guilty pleasure "Cabin Boy" Fallon in a couple including the wonderful "Almost Famous" Don't know about Conan though? & I like Ellen as an entertainer  Anyone see her huge flop from '96 "Mr. Wrong?" ($13m.)

The day the get the disgusting Rosie 0'Donnel to host may be the end of the world!!!

Still think Mr. Clooney would do a fine job though

  10.   I rarey if ever even attempt to officially-(online anyway since early 2001)  to even try & looking ahead in the crystal ball at just what & whom may have their name called at "The Dolby Theatre"-"Hollywood & Highland" (6801 H. Blvd) on Sunday March 4th, 2018, but just for very early & fun, I'll throw my very early hand in & play my fav. annual game

(P.S. Did hit 24 out of 40 correct on the top 6 majors though Batting average of 80%)

(NOTE: Not all particularly my personal favs for last year, just gtrying to outguess the 8,700 voting mbembers, for now anyway & please feel free to chime-in, that's the funnest pt) (3,000 up in 3yrs)
