(***1/2) & a nommed score too

31 Days of Oscar is my fav. month of the year, but it is also not as great as it was in the 1990's & early 2000's

This complete nonsense just keeps going & going on, where we TCM-ITES must re-0registereach & everytime we only try to log-in once &GET BLOCKED OUT FOR OUR TROUBLE??? Now, I just weote a lengthy piece on "CULVER CITY STUDIOS" & was almost doine when the site in GENBREAL DIUSCUSSIONS erased the entire article, because I was alledgedly not also logged back in in time!? PLEASE LOCATE WHAT I POSTED IN GENERAL AREA & MY HANDLE IS: Spencer & now have over 2000 posts ALL ASLSO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS FAIRLY NEW TCM WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT TOO! (please contact me too off of these forums about this ongoing matter at ([...]) IT TOOK ME AN HOIUR TO WRITE

I already saw a few times the $price tag$ for the new AMPAS museum, library, etc But who knows it's alledged final take, please? Only place I regret visiting was the *Academy Award museum/library on my 3 trips to LA LA LAND It's incredibally difficult in our era to find legendary movie places, so I brought a couple of my classic Hollywood books to assist & this town seems more hell bent on destroying it's once in a lifetime history then almost any other city???
-
That last pc I wrote is now in the tcm backlot section instead of this one. still please check iyt out & better yet have the supervisors read it THANK YOU

I'm certain most within these, the best forums on the net-(though I'm very dissapointed that others hardly threw their hand in & had fun predicting the 2017 Oscar noms Plus, even more importantly & as I've complained about for about 16yrs now in here We are actually the sole online, newspaoper & magazine hold out still in not having our own contest-(vioting) of the all-time greatest in motion picture history? BFI immediately held it's own. Even TV Guide, Films of the Golden Age/Classic Images, , my crappy local newspaper St. Pete Times & more have conducted it's own readers votes??? WHAT IS THE PROBLEM Hollywood.com had it's own in 1999 or 2000 in response to AFI's massive special? TO TCM MODERATOR & OTHERS IN CHARGE, IT CANNOT COST THAT MUCH TO DO SUCH A SURVEY Premiere also had 1. But back to the new AMPAS bldg. set to open in 2019 It shows them working & all on it's official site-(Oscars.org) Very futuristic looking too. Among sole things I regret not going to on my 3 vacations to whats left of an emopire callked HOLLYWOOD, was not visiting it's library. IO did however go up inside "The Kodak" now "Dolby Theatre" at least-(6801 H. Blvd) THANK YOU & AGAIN, PLEASE CONSIDER OUR OWN FAVORITE'S SURVEY IT ESSENTIALLY MAKES US TCMN-ITES FEEL LEFT OUT IN THE COLD, HECK, IT CAN EVEN BE DONE BY TCM BACKLOT?

Seeing your Avatar, that also reminds me why they never had *Oscar winner Bing Crosby-(l903-=77) as a host?
-
You got me a wee-bit, I'm prejudiced to on Larry David from the utterly superb tv show"Curb Your Enthusiasm" Might be a good idea & even more so what about Seinfeld?
-
Think the *Academy is concerned that Gervais would likely use some nasty language
-
Billy has often said he won't do them again, just to exhausting. Back when the all-time champ of *Oscar hosts Bob Hope=-(l903-2003) the show wasn't nearly as grueling or long He actually hosted them 15 top 18 times!!! Carson did a fine job, per usual & was the host that introduced *"THE DUKE" for the 1978 ceremonies & *JW passed away about 3 months later! Many point out the irony in *John presenting BP to a war film *"The Deer Hunter" For some reason I think-(not certain) they don't want Conan though? & if he wants to, Letterman should give it another go I much prefer Jimmy Fallon to Kimmel myself
-
Not to brag, I mostly want the others that joined in to forecast the 90th Annual Academny (AMPAS) Award nominees to join in & give their overall final forecasting, PLEASE DO!? & of course for now only the top 6 major categories to try & outguess them. Actually the 2 screenplay races are often considered in the majors BIGGEST LETDOWN: "Get 0ut" in the coveted BP race? & Jordan Peele for it in *Spielberg's likely slot? I've not yet added up all the 24 categories, but it's as predicted "SHAPE OF WATER" likely lead & to my delight "THREE BILLBOARDS..." overperformed this morning & I kinda' reviewed *D. Day's latest & according to him his final work at jhust age 60? "The Phantom Thread" also overperformed a bit (OVERALL SCORE: 80/3% correct) (hitting 24 for 30) THANK YOU

Speaking of this your on the $money$ Seinfeld is overdue to host

All by now know Mr. Nick Nolte-(l941-) from mostly his off-screen antics, yet he's one powerhouse actor & has been to the ball 3 times to date> 1991 "Prince of Tides" ($73m.) & (***-out of 4) (Best Actor nod.)-(TRIVIA: winner *Hopkins even told friends he thought Nick would win instead) 1998 "Affliction" ($7m.) (strong ***1/2) & arguably his finest work to date, but incredibally depressing) (2nd Leading nod.) & "Warrior" (***) (s. actor shot) If I had to select my own "Essential Nolte Films"-(only 4 allowed as usual) "The Thin Red Line" (l998) ($36m.) (4 stars!)-(snubbed of another nomination for s. actor?) "Affliction" "48 Hrs." (l982) ($75m.) (strong ***1/2) "Q & A" (l990)_ ($11m.) (strong ***) (*Brando outright claimed Niuck shoulda' won an *Academy Award for this strong crime-drama & I agree!) (He plays a very violent cop here & is superb, gaining tons of wgt & at 6'1 & wore 5-6 inch lifts as fellow Irishmen Mike Brennan. Sidney Lumet helmed here again & about cops. Not a great film, but his work here is towering) (ALSO-RAN: "Rich Man, Poor Man" (l976 tv mini-series) (the one that put him on the map Kinda'; feel sorry for co-star Peter Strauss, what ever happened to him?) THANX &* ADD YOUR OWN NOLTE FILMS IF YOU LIKE PLEASE?
-
Are you certain, I think Carson hosted 2 consecutive years?
-
I split w/you onhis quick mind though & has thee greatest sense of humor Better then political Kimmel anyday
-
As you of all know though "SW: Last Jedi" will lead the fioeld with an approx. final domestic take of about $635m.
-
JAKEEM, someone else posted own nominee predix Who was it pal? He only had about 600 posts so far Sure now looks like the momentum is w/my movie "Three Billboards..." & Rockwell too, huh
-
my best buddy loved "G. Showman" & he's not a musical fan like myself Exceopt last yrs "La La Land"-(my 3rd of this decade so far)
-
No comparison 1964's magical "Mary Poppins" also very first movie my ma' took me to in a reissue & love '67';s "Jungle Book"
-
See same yrs superb "CROSSFIRE"
-
s probably the all-time most hated man! *A. Guiness-(miscast), *Hopkins also magnificent & won an EMMY in TV's "The Bunker" & many more
-
& on that note *Duvall was utterly magnificent as Joseph Stalin in a tv movie & *Maximilian Schell won the EMMY for it as well, as Lenin. If this HBO film had been theatrical *Robert easily woulda'; taken home a 2nd Best Actor *Oscar for it!!! It's a fact that Stalin murdered many, many, more people then Hitler ever did too!
-
(NOTE: as many on here & a lot more elsewhere I have compiled in my ever growing movie files-(est: 1982-) "ALTERNATE OSCARS" or "THE OSCARS VS. "THE ORACLE" AWARDS all dating back to inception of real *Academy awards in 1927-28, thing is-(like aythoir Danny Peary of same aboive tile & is in dire need of a revised edition by the way)' MY BEST ACTOR "ALTERNATE" WINNER FOR 2004 WAS GANZ INB TGHIS, THEE MNOIST ACCURATE OF ALL ADOLPH HITLER'S YET ON SCREEN & EVEN OVER WINNER JAMIUE FOX in ":Ray" THAT YEAR TOO!
-
*"SCHINDLER'S LIST" WILL ALWAYS STAND ALONE, TRUST ME!
-
(TRIVIA: of all his shorts by Bugs the one & only one that won an *Oscar was "Knighty Knight Bugs" (l958) "
