  1. Although Bugs Bunny is my all-timer in any animated characters Even have a few collectibles on Mr Bunny! But, by far my all-time favourite *Disney animated short has virtually all of Hollywoods Golden Age in this short!!! "A Night in Hollywood" by far friends *Gable, *Cagney, *Tracy, *Bogey, Edward G. Raft, Garbo, & a ton more on hand-(WHO RECALLS THIS ONE? EASY TO FIND ONLINE) & of course my main man "BUGS" has a cameo
  2. To date & our buddy Jakeem, Topbilled or LawrenceA, would know, I guess Pixar has won about 9 Best animated feature films td? & more fun facts: "Finding, Dory" is officially the all-time top ten highest grossing pix at over $486m.
  3. JAMES STEWART, marvelous heading by the way & is he your all time fav. actor by the way? If so I can send you a tonnage of fun & accurate facts on AFI's 1999 number 3 all-time actors-(poll) Back to your topic my fav *Walt Disney-(l901-66) & by far all-time *Oscar winning champ with (26 wins) 1. "Dumbo" (song "Baby 0'mine" robbed of the song *Oscar that year!?) 2. "Fantasia"-(kinda' the "Kane" of it's genre due to it stretching all technical aspects) 3. "Pinocchio"-(must vote for this) 4. "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs": 5th all-timer from *Disney & sometimes the massive Pixar (TRIVIA: '95's "Tot Story" was it's first y the way) & "Inside/0ut" is simply incredible Never did see Pixar;'s latest "Coco" though, among chosen few I did not go & review??? & adore "Finding, Nemo" (P.S. IT IS ASININE THAT 19o47's "Song of the South" is now banned thesedays, it's very good fun (***1/2) & James Baskett even took home a special "statuette" for his Uncle Remus WHO AGREES?
  4. Aware I had to log my own all-timers pix on this guys' page, thread, post, etc BUT, it did not list reply TO THIS TOPIC ON HEADING THIS TIME? & your 100% correct TCM not legally-(I reckon;0 being able to broadcast Disney's glorious era i.e. "Dumbo" "Fantasia" "Pinocchio" & many other greats! Plus & at this late date the network still cannot broadcast *"GFI" or *"GFII?"-(the fmr being my A No. 1 all-time favoritre pic.) I must be honest 1st though & see this entire topic before also including my favs in motion picture history
  5. I was lucky to now become a TCM Backlot member, who else is a card-carrying member?
  6. WE SPLIT HERE MY FRIEND THOUGH1 STEVE, AS I used to dub him 'KING OF movie COOL' back in the early '90's & IT JUST CAUGHT ON WITH OTHER FANS OF HIS. mitchum's was awe-bit later though/
  7. The Cid, he broke many bodies at RKO when filming the fun 1951 "His Kind of Woman" (***) See, early on he thought he could dop most of his stuitnts 7 the stuntmern just said "HEY" that's are job
  8. On another of his Dick Cavett greast interviews-(someone just off stage just kept feeling his glass with booze!) But Dick asked him about MM & his brother & all Robert could say was his brother once again just jumped the rails & vanished Don't be confused with his son-(though they all looked very much alike( & he was smaller than Mitchum too. But, in '58's first drive-in movie "Thunder Road" (***) they look identical) Pretty certain this was not his forementioned brorther I did once see him though on an episode of TV's "Starsky & Hutch" (around 1977 or so) Think it was either his older bro, or a tad younger when both appeared on TV's huge "STARSKY & HUTCH" arounded 4:45 or so THANK YOIU & I THANK YOIU A MARXG YO! THOUGH WE HAVE A FAR REACHING SPOLIT ON MITCHUM VS. *SINATRAS, agaun, am incvredibally overwoirked in pain & tired sports fansdU DON'T 4-GET ANOTHER THING "THE MAX CADY SLEEPER HOLD!"
  9. Not only that but it's been my No. #1 overall all-time favourite foreign-language film every yet made!!! That yr the *AMPAS shoulda-(once again) be ashamed of itself in not nomination this wondrous film among the top 5 BP contenders THAT FINALE & AS USUAL *ENNIO'S MAGNIFICENT & MAJESTIC SCORE ALWAYS GIVES ME THE CHILLS It did however win as Best Foreign-Film at least (TRIVIA: You decide the BP 1989 nominees were *"Driving Miss Daisy" (swept 4), 'Born on the 4th of July" (2), "Dead Poet's Society" (won 1), "Field of Dreams" (shut out) & "My Left Foot" won 2)
  10. (*-as always indicatres an *Oscar win or winner) & I'm almost positive there will be a backlash on this post, but I always think of the "DWEEBS" in our era they now get to host the *Academy Awards i.e. Jimmy Kimmel again? Ellen does a fine job & everytime & they should try & get Letterman again, just an off night. Jimmy Fallon is 10 times more talented then Kimmel too. So, & this is just my longtime AMPAS opinion, give 2 time *Oscar victor & one cool guy, plus he's basically non-=political *GEORGE CLOONEY-(l961-) a shot at it WHAT DO YOU FANS THINK? Too bad John Candy-(l950-l994) is not around anymore About 75% other sites ion polls easily voted Billy Crystal as A #1 & i'm certain the hilarious & now very fine actor Bill Murray-(l950-) may let his marvelous humor get in the way HEY, what about BETTE MIDLER-(l945)? Likely so-called *Oscar fans that 4-got Carson & most of all champ-(15 to 18 years) BOB HOPE! So please give all & yours thought THANX
  11. Don't know if another touched on this, but last year daughter *LIZA had her mother's remains from Brooklyn, NY all the way across this country to be laid to rest in "Hollywood Forever, cem." & a kind of irony here about that "The Mick" Mickey Rooney already chose that park in 2014
  12. There are a myriad & too many to included here, but my all-timer is the wondrous 1989 "CINEMA, PARADISO" (Italy) It belongs too in The Library of Congress!n& they really do a marvelkous job on this t yearMy runners-up in any year & in no special order either, except "PARIDISO"> "Das Boot" (l982-German)-(winner of 6 statuettes But tcm is cute "La Strada"(l954-Italy)-(A weird arthouse film Can you fellow TCM-ITES fathom,. I've yet to be able to see "Grande Illusion" though? In no special order here "Triumph of the Will"/ "0lympia" ('37-Germany) (l934/35) & "Cinema, Paradiso" (l989) (there just too lousy. 2003 version & it $7m.)> "Ran" (l985-Japanese)-(close to being the magnificent Akira Kurosawa's crowing achievement & the guy was almost blind when he made the superb WW2 epic anyway) "Das Boot" (l982-German) (snagged 6 noms but at this stage can only pay for myself right now?) & many more, but I must confess I'm, not a big foreign film & especially with subtitles & althoiugh I've been going to the new releases since I was an 17yr old boy, I STILL ALWAYS MUCH MORE PREFER HOLLYWOODS GLORIOUS GOLDEN AGE & STUDIO-SYSTEM-(1925-1960) BY FAR
  13. As I said I only just started awhile ago as one of your fellow TCM BACKLOT MEMBERS & they -(last evening) even mailed me one of those marvelous boxes, button inside & a membership card Got the t-shirt about a month ago & FREE! I've had the chance of reading whats in the box & online about us members, but very much love all things offered & I THANK YOU
  14. Bogie56, please send more information about getting pushed at by Plummer. Never really liked him--(except of course he shared the screen w/NATALIE in "Daisy" 1st time I saw he was an exceptional actor was as Mike Wallace in '99's "The Insider" So please help me & send that particular shot or short(s) me (P.S. she used to leave these concerts too? When she didn't care for the music playing in the club Due forecast him possibly winning in SAG Awards tonight--(don't think he's up for it though?) Rockwell vs. Woody then & maybe same goes with the *Oscars?
  15. Bogie56, 1stly did you know where exactly Bogart dd that legendary nickname by the way? It was arguably his greatest friend *"THE GREAT: SPENCER TRACY"-(l900-l967) Sadly *Tracy had to attend his '57 funeral & of course Gable's in 1960, he was soon to join them in "Forest Lawn" in Glendale, CALIFORNIA 7yrs later I have a superb photo of both *J. Stewart & him leaving the wee kirk church about 1/2 way up the mountainous terrain of 318acres & especially him has a look on his face to another photographer that says it all.-(YOU CAN EASILY LOCATE IT BY JUST PUNCHING IN *TRACY'S FB PICTURES OR *STEWART'S TOO. I had it lamenated & added it to my "WALLS-OF-FAME" & on this topic of Plummerr, Shirley, Dafoe & Rockwell-(who has the momentum right now & voting stopped for the noms last week) But we have a split on Plummer winning that 2nd s. actor gold here. He's the oldest actor to yet win for 2011's "The Beginners" He was age 82. Though *"Titanic's" 87yr old s. actress contender by far woulda' broke the mold-(instead Hollywood went w/*Basinger in "L.A. Confidentiak") ARE WE TALKING ACADEMY AWARDS OUR SAG TONIGHT THOUGH? OBVIOUSLY INCREDIBALLY EARLY AT THIS DATE< I GOTTA' THROW MY 36 YEAR OLD HAND IN THE RING & LOOKINH UNTIL MASRCH 4th ALREADY "THE POSSOIBLE WINNERS FOR THE 90th ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS-(of course all still subject to change until seven days before official OSCARS) (again only the top 6 majors for now, as usual I'll once again to predict all 24 winners?) BEST PICTURE?: "THREE BILLBOARDS..." ACTOR?: GARY OLDMAN in "The Darkest Hour" ACTRESS?: FRANCES McDORMAND, "Three Billboards..." S. ACTOR?: (closest race this year)>WOIODY HARRELSON, "Florida Project" or SAM ROCKWELL, "Three Billboards..." S. ACTRESS?: LAURIE METCALF in "LadyBird" & BEST DIRECTOR?: GUILLERMO DEL TORO for "Shape of Water" THANX & FEEL FREE TO SEND ANY & ALL PREDIX & COMMENTS
  16. Very important for me to have anybody just let me know what it is like to be a prestiguos TCM BACKLOT MEMBER? Lots of jazz, what does it all intail Offers & special places members get offers to go places & of course $prices$ to go to each I'M SOMEWHAT ALREADY WELL AWARE OF ABOUT HALF OF IT, BUT JUST DISMISSED BECOMING A MEMBER, MAINLY DUE TO $DOUGH$ TRULY NEED YOUR HELP FELLOW TCM-ITES OPN ALL INVOLVED & TO MY LONGTIME FRIENDS_9Jakeem, LawrenceA & TopBilled) ARE YOU ALREADY BACKLOT MEMBERS BECAUSE & I WAS STUNNED, I NOW AM ONE-(officially too) Tell all about this utterly marvelous & brand new event later THANX
  17. *"The Chairman of the Board" Francis (Albert) Sinatra-(l9l5-l998) always said about Judy, "that when she sings she died a little bit more each time" unquote
  18. Jakeem, was that really much of a surprise here buddy? It was easily between it vs "Three Billboards..." & speaking of the latter it really needs to take home that Best Ensemble award at SAG on Sunday now to stay alive over it But some fun trivia you & others may like>The last BP *Oscar sweeper to not also take home that ensemble award was 1995's *"Braveheart?"
  19. Seeing both Frances vs Rockwell in that great photo, they may be the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor *Academy Award winners soon?
  20. Never know *Plummer just may well take home his 2nd s. actor "statuette"-(as our ol' friend R. 0sborne loved to say) & SAG on Sunday, however Sam Rockwell & Dafoe-(would be his 3rd shot td) may have their names called instead at "The Dolby Theatre? Plus & I hate how the AMPAS has always done this type of nonsense, if someone won before, they snub them for an even more deserving role & *Plummer won at age 82 for 2011's "The Beginners" *Shirley Maclaine is great friends w/him & says he just adores drinking TO BE HONEST THOUGH, DESPITE *SPACEY'S BEHAVIOR, HE IS THE FAR SUPERIOR ACTOR, GOTTA' ADMIT IT Keyzer Sousa
  21. (UPDATE: Just went to "The Phantom Thread" (strong ***-out of 4 stars) I was surprised because D. Day is arguably our greatest living actor, he's perfect for the role as usual & will almost positively earn his 5th shot for it, but the film as a whole was a letdown & sugglish It will almost certainly take home Best Costume Design *Oscar though & I REVISE my s. actress nominee forecast by one only Leslie Manville in O. Spencer's slot instead Music by Johnny Greenwood (the superb 07 "There Will Be Blood" is great again too) Next either "The Post" or "Shape of Water"-(12 overall nods forecasted) but today that doesn't matter like the old days, nor does BP & BD matching They now have a prefferrential-(in pain & hope I spelled that ok?) ballot & only 3 of the last 7yrs have they matched up THANX AGAIN!
  22. Most by now I posted my 36th year at forecasting what & who I think will make the cut for Tuesday's 90th Annual *Academy Awards & have virtually begged for a number of others to do so & maybe just bragging rights on'em on wednesday A couple guys did already do so & again I THANK YOU FOLKS! When I started for 1982 *Oscars my pals & I had no internet & all these far too many other awards, so all we had in the 1980, 1990's were magazines, newspapers & what we could see on tv. For the record the gone too soon GMA critic Joel Siegel was the best at this nominee game & the also gone far too son Gene Siskel always just knew the works on the winners Case in point he was on an airplane once with then nominee Oprah Winfrey up for "The Color Purple" (l985) & she asked Gene do you think I can win & he flat out said NO WAY, *Anjelica Huston also vs. her for "Prizzi's Honor" was Hollywood Royalty & she'd win in a walk Gene's advice to Oprah was have her dinner roll bronzed inside & she still has it COME ON IF YOU ONLY WANT TO HAVE FUN & SAY WHAT YOU THINK FOR BP, ACTOR & ACTRESS?
  23. I kinda' figured most of these fellow TCM-0ITES would also loath her I still wish someone or more would have input on "Evita" & the rest of the stuff I wrote Because tha '96 musical by Alan ("Midnight Edxpress") &others did garner 4 other nods besides her victorious song For the record I like her ballads best "Live to Tell;" from 1986's very strong "At Close Range":-(ironically also her fav. song) for which she was truly snubbed of a Best 0. Song nomination for it that year? & she & I match on her fav. onstage number "Like a Prayer" & just for fun her all-time favourite motion pictures are>"A place in the Sun" *"E. Patients" & on top for her is the legendary "To Kill a Mockingbird" A funny story from our local talk radio station down here circa 1990 & some phone psychic woman said she was doing an entire show on Louise being Marilyn's reincarnation, I thought it immediately asinine & couldn't wait to tell this psyscxh that MADONNA was born 4yrs before Marilyn Monroe's untimely demise in '62, so on air she said iyt was over-(her topic) She has another film for the big screen in the work, an adaptation on Greta... something PLEASE CONMSIDERE I yeah, she also plays the ukelalee-(think I spelled it wrong though)
  24. (*-always denotes an *Academy Award winner) First I;'m well aware for lots that Madonna-(l958-) is either a laughing stock, easy target-(she always did that her way & look what she did with her career in doing so, most have only seen her in her videos & not an entire full-fledged dynamic concert. For any naysayers, just punch in a couple, most notably 1990's "Truth or Dare"-"Blonde Ambition"-(France), 2008's "Stickly & Sweet"-(Argentina most of all)-(both well over 2hr concerts & she's like the energizer bunny, NEVER STOPS throughout!) this lady-(another thing you all will make light of) can literally play every instrument on the stage & growing too! Is thee all-time greatest on stage musical artrist & this coming from a *Francis Albert devotee BIG-TIME! Several more things (MADONNA LOUISE VERONICA CICCONE) from Detroit area & started out on the drums, then guitar, harp, more jazz & of course her dancing ever since ballet class very young-(AN ASIDE: My mother had own ballet school & prior to that circa 1962 was the then shortest NY Rockett & the girl;s got to perform with *G. Burns, Ricky Nelson, Arthur Godfrey, Carol Channing &* almost really hit the high note w/BOB HOPE! But her & her girlfriend kinda' messed it up. Though also at this time she (accidentally) was in a G. Ballanchine workout class & next to your entire 3 to 5hr workout was *Shirley MacLaine! Then started her own ballet class school in Delaware. In short, she always thought Madonna was a great dancer, but hates how she always feels to get dirty on stage. Now that I have more then a fondness for "THE QUEEN" as we devotess call her thesedays (P.S. It sounds made up but I have even personally correspond online with her over about 3 years. She's really a bookworm & reads everything. Haven't heard back from her in about 2 to 3 months, but prior to that we were pen pals 1reeason I don't be mean to her & were about same age. She's been in 27 pix td & as much as I love her, she's still a one note actress? The only thing she's a yet to accomplish in the arts WANTED EVEN HER MYRIAD OF DETRACTORS TO GIOVE VIEWS ON "EVITA" (l996) ($51m.) (***-out of 4 stars) Now she did great in the globes that year, but no actress nomination. Though the bio/musical has no dialogue & she must sing throughout. It earned 5 noms winning for a song by *Sondheim that wasn't in the play "You Must Love Me" For yrs stage actress Patti Lapune was thought yo play Evita Peron, then they wanted *Streep for yrs & then even *Faye Dunaway FINAL NOTE" "OUR QUEEN" in 2007 had her huge/massive image put on, up almost to the top the legendary "HOLLYWOOD ROOSEVELT HOTEL" Like a Murral. & strangely, she still doesn't want a "Walk-of-Fame' star? THANX
