Strangely nobody voted for MARILYN MONROE though? Though I agree, MM was more sexy/attractive than beautiful
Been to Hollywood 3 times to date & on the first journey in '99 the entire H. Blvd & elsewhere was devided up on all things between *Bogey & her, that changed in 05, it's now mostly Mariulyn

The eternal beauty of Sophia Loren.
A weak, shallow person might drop to his knees before a woman who looked like this.
(Hey, somebody help me get up, will ya? My arthritic knee is killing me!)
Never a big fan of *(Sophia, but that is one heck of an image!!!)

I rate Bergman the most beautiful great actress of the studio-era. E.g. Bette Davis and Stanwyck were better actresses and Rita and some others were just a beautiful, Bergman was the most perfect combination.
James, do you agree about Rossellini & how stunning she looks like her ma'? Pia Lindstrom does too, but not nearly as much
I just asked of *James (Francis) Cagney was your fav. actor & I reckon' *Ingrid is tops for you too, huh?

James-(admire your *Cagney avatar BIG-TIME!) Off the topic, is he your A #1?
& on that note of the tragic Rita Hayworth, an old pal o[mine kinda'; had a crush on her & still does quite a bit

I guess as a woman, I get to have my say. Ingrid Bergman, who Selznick insisted be filmed with little to no make-up. Filming her changed how women were groomed, as Ingrid kept her natural eyebrows, etc. Also, she was a good actor and a woman of great intelligence. Runner-up, Olivia deHavilland in the late 30s and early 40s. Not too many women could wear the almost nun-like veiled costumes in The Adventures of Robin Hood and have such natural beauty shine through. In The Strawberry Blonde, those big dark eyes definitely outshine Rita Hayworth, who looks almost harsh in comparison (although my husband thinks Rita in You Were Never Lovelier was the most beautiful actress ever). Yes, Olivia is another woman whose intelligence is revealed in her every expression. I'm also partial to Vivien Leigh, Jean Simmons, and Jennifer Jones because their dark hair, light eyes, and delicate features remind me of my mother.
Contemporary actresses -- Catherine Zeta Jones in her prime (Mark of Zorro, Chicago); Jessica Chastai
*Tracy always said *Bergman-(who he had an affair with too) was the finest actress he ever worked with, except one of course Her daughter Isabella Rossellini looks like a clone of her

THANX TO ALL THAT JOINED IN HERE!!!
whats the famed saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
-
Think this has been done on here previously, but things change of course & viewpoints
Reason I brought it to mind again is Alan Hale, Sr.-(l890-l950) is currently on in the terrific 1941 *Cagney vehicle "The Strawberry Blonde" (***1/2)
During the glorious Studio-System, these character players were mainly there to pump up the leading players & boy, they don't even begin to have these folks today
& on that note *"The Great: Spencer Tracy" (l900-l967) actually always thought himself more of a character actor
So who are your tops?
Of course I'll submit my own to start the ball rolling>
1st *Walter Brennan-(l894-l974)-(amazingly people are stunned when they hear that *Walter joined that elite group of 3 or more *Academy Award winners By the way, he lost his teeth from an auto accident I think it was in 1932? "Stumpy" in "Rio Bravo" is my fav role of his & deserved yet another nomination!)
2nd favorite Ward Bond=-(l903-60)-(stunningly he was never even nommed & is listed as being in approx. 250 films? He truly deserved to be in the race for "Gentleman Jim" & of course "The Searchers" though Most think he appeared in most pictures., but that honor goes to another marvelous character player *Donald Crisp. Starting in silent era)
3rd *Barry Fitzgerald (l888-l964)-(*Oscar victor for 1944's *"Going My Way" for s. actor, but the *AMPAS messed up & also nommed him for lead & same flick? I'm a bit prejudiced too, due to being a fellow Irish)
Thomas Mitchell is another & even *Ford thought him tremendous!
THANX

Yep, I've caught the homage only about twice to date. I bet they will air it a lot more just before the new year
-
& it was voted by TCM a few yrs ago on it's 15th anniversary, where they cited "The Top 15 Most Influential Films"
Not #1, but among them of course
If anyone is interested I have that list in files still-(chronologically)

& Abe was probably born looking 80, huh AKA: Tessio

thanx!

Some may already know this, but the legendary Hugh Hefner had long ago bought a niche just next to Marilyn Monroe
Located in "Westwood, cem"
Obviously a kinda' irony too, considering she was the first on his magazine
-
I had thought she died a few yrs back? OOPS
-
& of course in our era yet another "Avatar" is being planned? The first is the 2nd highest grosser ever at $760m. domestically

I saw "SW" & "Three Billboards..." same day & though personally I kinda' enjoyed "Last Jedi" (**1/2-out of four stars)
"Billboards..." was just the opposite & incredibally unpredictable & original

I'm by no means attracted to men however I thought it only fair to include this as a companion pc for my previous post on "MOST BEAUTIFUL ACTRESSES!"
& I can truly only think of A #1 in this dept & he was the epitome of a true movie star Cary Grant!
EXAMPLE: watch shows on tv nowadays such as ET & Access Hollywood, plus that god awful TMZ program, where they have to tell you who the person is they are covering? & the dress code went out the window too Look at Archie Leach, can you imagine him with the baseball cap, baggy pants the works???
In my personal opinion the closest to the legendary Cary is *(Clooney, though still not in same league)
THANK YOU
