I think it may be JAKEEM to get this one again Do you know exact natrion wide release date for the huge remake of 1974's "Murder on the 0rient Express?" PLEASE LET ME KNOW? They are already showing trailers as you know (P.S> I THINK IT WAS "PREMIERE MAGAZINE"-(l987-2002) THAT VOTED IT'S SCORE BY THE NEVER TOOK HOME AN *OSCAR ALEX NORTH-("A Streetcar..." "Spartacus" "Virginia Woolf?' "Prizzi's Honor" "Under the Volcano" "The Dead" & many others) IT AS A #1 ALL-TIME FINEST MOTION PICTURE SCORE THOUGH IT DIDN'T QUITE MAKE THE TOPP #25 IN AFI's SPECIAL FROM 2006

The DANCES WITH WOLVES/GOODFELLAS Controversy
spence replied to Palmerin's topic in General Discussions
Don't think these 2 canceled each other out, it was a couple of factors. *"DANCES" is thee epitome-(though I think it's great too) of the typical coffee table book BP winner they have always just adored to vote "THE BIGGIE" Just a couple examples of this are>*"GANDHI" *"AMADEUS" *"OUT OF AFRICA" *"LAST EMPEROR" *"ENGLISH PATIENT" & though I still like most of these, especially *"AFRICA" these type of winners have long also been dubbed "Geriatric" winners & safe, etc NO MATTER, WHAT CAN BEAT THAT SCORE BY *JOHN BARRY FROM *"AFRICA" & again agree with you on 6 time sweeper *"GUMP" (***1/2) ($330m.) I always liked it, but those 2 others from 1994 are all-time level & in particular "Shawshank" which only grossed $26m upon first release & has been climbing with film historians ever since, even talking 1st place over *"THE GODFATHER" in (imdb.com's) poll Personally I voted "GoodFellas" runner-up best of the decade-(l990's) of course after *"SCHINDLER" -
The DANCES WITH WOLVES/GOODFELLAS Controversy

I split with many of you TCM-ITES, I think a lot anyhow? Maybe not, it seems many on here dislike the heavyweight 1990 Western *"DANCES WITH WOLVES" (made $184 million) & is officially also the highest grossing Western in history. Which swept (7) *Oscars that year & I'll always remember '90 was the movie year of "The Gangster" again in cinema > "GoodFellas' ($47m.) "Godfather, Part 111" ($67m,.), "Miller's Crossing" ($5m.)-(Still my candidate as *Coen Bros. greatest!), "State of Grace" ($9m.), "The Krays" "Men of Respect" & if you count it *Beatty's "Dick Tracy" ($104m.) As far as the now too-many annual Pre-*Oscars Film Critics awards, "GoodFellas" swept them all & with NYFCC it was almost a landslide at 43 to 2 -

To Jamesjazzguitar, good stuff & also, a still rarely broadcast anywhere or especially now spoken of-(due to more "PC' nonsense thesedays) was *Zanuck's massive bio "Wilson" (Fox)-(which due to that nonsense I';ve yet to be able to see???) & it swept 5 *Academy Awards for 1944 & was a notorious $flop$ & now that president Woodrow Wilson appears to be the next "asinine" politically correct target-(IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING OR SOMEONE NEXT) The biograp[hy will likely be aired even less? -
To Rosebette, thanks for review, etc & your about 85% correct in Hayek snagging her 2nd Best Actress shot. & extra thanks for doing what nobody has done so far in citing 2015 *Oscar victor ("Bridge of Spies") *Mark Rylance here. As Jakeem & others & I do, we just enjoy conducting a very early running *Oscar tally chart & td: "Dunkirk" "Beguiled" "Murder on 0rient Express" "Churchill" (Brian Cox) "0ur Darkest Hour" (Gary 0ldman al;so as Churchill) "Get 0ut" "Battle of the Sexes" Who knows about *Woodman's "Wonder Wheel?" "Mudbound" "John Gotti'-(Travolta) "United Kingdom' "Lovers" (Winger) & MORE

This newest guy to play "Superman" in my humble opinion is as dull as dishwater You know who never got much attention on the acting front & Ebert & Siskel used to rave about him as Lex Luther, of course it's *GENE HACKMAN

I don't know about you-(Jakeem) & many others, but I am soo "BURNT" on comics on "The Silver-Screen" However I did want to go & see "Wonder Woman" My personal favorite of 'em all to date is still the now seemingly primitive to many viewers "Batman" from 1989 by Tim Burton. & I don't care what anybody says Michael Keaton is my vote as a #1 As is "Marvelous Michelle Pfeiffer" as Catwoman-(flipside 04's mess with *Halle Berry, though not her fault) & though not as much but dazzling moviemaking 08's "DK" again by Christopher ("Dunkirk" ) Nolan But this viewer still likes "The Joker" by *JACK over *Ledger's Almost 4-got 1978's dazzlingly fun "Superman" with a tragic-figure & a man I've ranked a true Hero for disabled persons in Christopher Reeve-(l952-2005) & of course I still love TV's just for fun "Batman" (l966-68) Most know Adam West just went at 88. I literally somewhat grew up with that show & was just a wee lad when it was 1st on. Mostly caught it in reruns in early '70's. & like TV's "The Twilight Zone" (l959-64) had some of the greatest actors alive on it. HOW MANY "SUPERMAN" EPICS HAVE THERE BEEN JOW, NOT ICLUDING THE EARLIEST SERIALS

JAKEEM., is this from you or Mr. Sam Adams in regard to going to the WW2 epic in all 3 formats? I hope & plan to check it out on Tuesday. AS IT STANDS NOW, THOUSE AS MOST ARE AWARE IT'S PREMATRE. IT IS THEE CLEAR FRONT RUNNER FOR "THE BIGGIE" BEST FILM, BEST DIRECTOR-(Nolan)-(Tinsel-Town has long wanted to award him )
-

Just as not only myself but many other critics expected, "Emoji Movie" is just reaching for $$$$

As part of my personal make-up is also loving to gamble-(but strangely not cards & Vegas, Atlantic City style of stuff) but just bet & BIG-TIME! Most of all of course the *Oscars, Boxing, Football-(most of course the Super Bowl) & just for some more fun, a myriad of other jazz, etc & among them more recently I predicted "NP Guide" was going away & I unfortunately also see our beloved TCM itself going bye, bye with a few years The sad writing appears to be on the wall ANYONE AGREE?
-
Lawrence, missed it who is "Star of the Month?" & they rarely thesedays have a month "GP" "guest Programmer" is there 1 for 0ctober?
-
& Flynn was among many that only got his "Walk-of-Fame Star" posthumously in 1961
-
speedrace5, is Errol among your favs? & have you yet had the opportunity to go by & or even possibly get to go inside "MULHOLLAND RIVE RESIDENCE" of his? My bus went by in 2005, but the ":Tree People" had totally taken it over that day. Rick Nelson lived there when he was killed in the New Years Eve 1985 airplane crash. & as you probably know it's been the focal pt of several films >"Breathless" (l983 version), " Jimmy Hollywood" (l994) (Torreyson, PL) & how about visiting his final resting place & yep, again at the literally legendary monolithic park of GLENDALE's, "Forest Lawn" If you do, advice is take a car & or taxi up to very top where he chose, because it's over (317 mountainous acres)

I attempted to post this a few minutes ago, but it went into cyberspace apparently It was in regard to whats arguably my most massive post,. thread, topic & article-(which I prefer) & "ACTORS, ACTRESSES, DIRECTORS, FILMMAKERS, HISTORIANS,etc & THEIR HERO/IDOLS & ROILE MODELS" & Flynn did have 1 well known in John Barrymore.

On *Academy (AMPAS) Award winner: *Ronald Colman-(l89l-l957) though not among Hollywoods most legendary of actors; i.e., *Gable, *Tracy, *Bogie, *Coop, etc He easily has one of the top speaking voices of not only his era but in any, along with the likes of> *Welles, *Freeman, Burton, James Earl Jones, Rains & *"The Great: Tracy" did a marvelous job in his narration of the tremendous 1963 Western epic "How the West Was Won" (l963)

spence replied to spence's topic in General Discussions
0ne thing is certain no matter anyone's view of Lynch, they won't be giving him the AFI Award someday -

Was among R. 0sborne's favs. -
About the *Clint project, does it have a running title & does it have a wide release date? & interested on your view & others on which bio of "CHURCHILL" movies?-(no matter though, these epics are not $B.O.$ types)_ & who thinks, though incredibally early, do you see Disney's marvelous "BEAUTY & THE BEAST" as a big 2017 contender? As you=(Jakeem) know it's the top release to soar well over $500 million in ticket sales!
