I say mayube because as most know performers about 80-85% comeback, no matter what the age> Jerry Lewis 91, T. Bennett 91, Mel Brooks at 91, Carl Reiner at 95 & Betty White at 91 & the legendary record holder for most Oscar hosting's is of course Bob Hope & somewhat kept going until the age of 100! George Burns kept going until 100. Dick Van Dyke is 92 & one of my all-timers Don Rickles would never stop of working, when he suddenly just went at almost age 91 as well. & more of course If Daniel Day-Lewis does indeed hang up his boxing gloves, he's not the first in recent yrs Connery's 87-(& looks 20yrs younger) & of course (3) time Academy award winner Nicholson was last seen in "How Do You Know" playing second fiddle no less (P.S. always wanted to see a sequel to '85's "Prizzi's Honor" though however John Huston was of course gone by then.) (NOTE: Please reply either way who ever saw "Ironweed" he & Streep delivered stunning performances, but beware it's among the most depressing films yet made!) There's running docu on HBO this month on folks up & over their 90's & Van Dyke, Brooks, Reiner & more are on it ("If Your Not in the Obit, Then Eat Breakfast") & it even quickly interviews "Mr. Charm" K. Douglas in this nice show. Sadly thee oldest still with us is Olivia de Havilland at about 101, but lives in Paris. & character player Lloyd Nolan I believe is something like 103 now!!!-(CORRECTY ME IF HE WENT, PLEASE) AMPAS & Day-Lewis=-(another fellow Irishmen): *1989 "My Left Foot" ($15m.) (Best Actor winner & richly so)*-(P.S. recently voted the finest Irish film ever, on another website) 1993 "In the Name of the Father" ($25m.) 2002 "Gangs of New York" ($80m.) (& one of my top picks among Oscars biggest rippoffs in him not easily scoring again as William "Cutting" All mouths dropped in the place when his name wasn't called yet again, official winner A. Brody in "The Pianist" you be the judge) *2007 "There Will Be Blood" ($47m.) (Absolute brilliance & channeling John Huston) 2012 "Lincoln" ($185m.) (Arguably the most on the $money$ Lincoln in motion picture history! For me runner-up is H. Fonda in "Young, Mr. Lincoln") & more fun-fax: All say he made his debut as a street punk intimidating Ben ("Gandhi") Kingsley Also & typically he delivered another-(but not nommed) role in 1996's "The Crucible" Hollywood basically ignored this exceptional drama, but John Allen's was. my girl Winona Ryder played a beast here (FINAL NOTE: D Day never tried to tackle all out comedy though?)

EXCUSE A WEE BIT OF THE SLOPPINESS Very tired sports fans (& I can literally give you your own brochure of such, I first found a staggering fascination love affair with all things HOLLYWOOD But, I wanted to see about that glorious era "GARDEN OF ALLAH" gone "CIRO'S' not The Comedy Store, most of the "BROWN DERBY'S" gone & a lot more, but as I wrote you gotta' know what you want to check out in advance. I blew it when I wanted a photo of me & there's this huge SINATRA Murral in the backjground & it woulda' had Capitol Records in same shot in background, but I blew it & couldn't work the camera!!! I sulked all the way home to FL. They do have tons of Murals though. & we ate at the oldest working restauarant in Hollywood "Musso & Franks"-(l9l9-) Long & famous story involved there, but a couple yrs after we left that time. & I always wanted to see Flynn's Mulholland Mansion But,. no, the tree people totally took it over on this day. Did see Nicholson's & Brando's foliage-(he had just died in 04 when I went back a 3rd vacation,.

Do most of you know there is still & in all visit Hollywood literature of Hollywood, California A "Raymond Chandler Square": I'd have to check my brochures, but think it's at Hollywood & Chaunga But, typically of the town in this era, once you get there-(& if dark, I didn't worry. grew up in NJ & other nasty joints) plus I'm a fairly big guy. At dark almost all tell you to get off of the legendary H. Blvd-(@ & 1/2 miles) & therefore the even more legendary "Walk-of-Fame"-(est 1958 & 1961) But even with my broad shoulders-(just kidding a wee bit) I was there but could not quite get to the meat of the matter. & it's true, lots of jerks were actually trying to help me out See it also has the main blg in "The Big Sleep" (l946) as it alledged base I was bummed & to anyone that wants to go & depite it's neglect, happiness to teak down it's legendary past & some of the cretens around at night I SO, RECOMMEND GOING THOUGH, BUT TAKE A FRIEND OR MORE!!! Write to (Hollywood Chamber of Commerce) & ask for maps, maps & everything for it's subway system & on regular buses. I never took s. system,. my pal did though. I recall for yrs not 1 person believed me when I last went it was in full force. These above brochur's-(THEY ARE ALL FREE TOO) I saved all of mine, not to brag but I had most things always stacked out there for many years-(except that subway)-(ALSO ON DISPLAY IN "COLLATERAL" (2004) If you ever want I could (FREE) be like a bit of a tour guide-(been the 3 times td) I even got to stay all 3 vacations so close to Paramount & original RKO, you could view RKO's old frt entrance Now Paramount's side door from a very old side street from the motel which is still there (777 N. Vine) Mae west lived in a massive apts- ("RAVENSWOOD") & are so bright in reds, you can easily view them from Griffith Park 0bservatory She lived there 48yrs & passed away there in 1980 age 87. She only had to walk 3 blocks to work at Paramount MY FAVORITE STUDIO TOUR BECAUSE IT IS ALL STILL INTACT (Warner Bros. VIP Tour in Burbank, where most of "The Dream Factories" were & are still based It's museum alone is worth it! LIKED PARAMOUNT, but you can easily see where if you walk over a line in the floor, the decor changes from the 1930's from RKO,etc to this era on Paramount's side of the lot. & bordering it is the famous & infamous cemetary HOLLYWOOD FOREVER"-(62 acres, but nowhere in same league as GLENDALE'S massive & over 317 all up steep hills park) (& as I tell most, not to be confused w/other "F. Lawn" in Hollywood Hills. it's cool for those that want to go only there, but Glendale is legendary & the stars that selected it are like a who's who roll call from a couple months on tcm- JUST GET POUT AT DUSK "Coyote's" Now, Hammett was the true tough guy vs. Chandler An actual Pinkerton & just all around tougher guy,. because like Hemingway he lived a lot of it. (SEE 1977's "Julia") (P.S. Now, the 2nd studio I wanted to see by far the most, especially given what Kirkorian did to M-G-M once over 200 acres, now barely 40 & Sony.) However I only heard afew yrs back about another studio & only a few little blocks away from what was METRO-GOLDWYN-MAYER "CULVER STUDIOS"-(it would take ag at least to fill my fellow buffs in on what was & whats still being shoit inside it's very pvt. gates. *"GWTW" for once had a lot of shooting here, but no visitors are allowed. All one can see from a gate is the façade of the famed mansion. I got a book on it, but like a dummy had no idea it was even there. Burning of Atlanta too place inside. Lucy bought out *Selznick's 40 acres later. He used the massive walls for Atatanta's fire from "King Kong" & it was around October/November 1938 when he still couldn't find his Scarlett) & Olivier just showed up to watch the burning & with him was a brit actresss Vivien Leigh & he found her! & A LOT MORE HISTORY, FOR THOSE THAT KNOW WHERE & WHEN TO LOOK-(but to all hurry) By the way Fox has never offered tours? I statyed (4) days on all (3) trips, in '99 when I first went souvenir shops basically had both Marilyn & Bogie & 3rd Elvis only 6yrs later HOLLYWOOD, BLVD is like a MM showcase That's another place-(it's not really morbid because as many feel same as myself) their houses are mostly gone-(even Pickfair) & they spent quite some time at where they & their family hope to spend eternity all together & tiny & fan welcome-(they all are except for Glendale, but I knew how to move around 'em) is the tin 3 & 1/2 acre "Westwood, park" -(they even give you a map) ALWAYS OUR MEETING GROUND OR GROUND ZERO IN CASE SOMEONE GOT LOST "ROOSEVEL HOTEL" I feel as though I know every nook & crazy in it by now) THANK YOU

I had first caught wind of the huge rehash of the 1974 Oscar winner-(Ingrid Bergman) last week on one of the asinine, but once in awhile still sometimes useful tv gossip shows "ET" "Access Hollywood'-(I refuse to watch "E" thesedays for, it just gets worse & worse. For those that may recall, "E-TV" did not start on the air until January 1990, prior to that a far better & for us moviefans a better suited program was on & 24-7. "Movietime" & a couple of us already wrote that Oscar contender Greg Kinnear started on that show that's shot near La Brea Tar Pits Each host-(& the only essentially showed clips & little gossip either) He would host 4hrs & then R.J. Wagner's hot daughter Kate Wagner would get her on place in the sun. I had such a crush on Kate that I wrote her at the network & she actually wrote me right back & the 2nd had her autograph on it! Which is also on my "Walls-of-Fame"-(in the NATALIE WOOD section, due to fact NATASHA -(her stepmom) raised her. It was ultra surreal & not to go into here Anyway, "Murder on...." now has full trailers, but they are still edited. & has another all-star cast as Kenneth Brannagh-(he does it all for it, so it seems again) Michelle Pfeiffer, Johnny Depp, Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz, Willem Dafoe & probably more. (It's scheduled for November) Hercule Poirot'> In film history who do you cast your vote as they finest to date??? My vote: Finney virtually unrecognizable in the '74 version & the yet to win an Oscar (0 for 5 td) You choose in film history: Who is the finest??? Don't know who does it's score yet though. I bring that up because many fanatics such as myself more then love music score-soundtracks & alike & many vote for the never won an Oscar Alex North's score to be among thee finest ever. (TRIVIA: However in AFI's little known 2006 survey/poll & special it did not make the final #25?) (P.S. Although very premature a few releases that just be contenders for the 90th Annual Academy Awards "Murder on the 0rient Express" "Churchill"-(not it's final title, but Brian Cox looks amazing a Churchill) Woody's-(maybe not titled 47th as director/) "Dunkirk"-(won't like make much $dough$ but director Christopher Nolan has yet to even be nommed? & not likely to be a $B.O.$ attraction, unfortunately) "The Beguiled" (so far this has the pedigree & Sofia Cppola became only 2nd female director to win a Cannes) (FINAL NOTE: Where is "Marvelous Meryl" this year though. It would literally astounding mark her #21st nomination) YOU ALL PLEASE THROW IN YOUR 2 CENTS, or 3, 4 & 5? THANK YOU

But I still & after 17yrs on the net cannot simply edited an AVATAR? Several have always tried to tell me & I very much want to do it, but still messed it up? My top 3 would be of "The Great: Tracy"-(either "Black Rock" which is easily my A #1 choice. Or the shot from 1944's "A Guy Named Joe" with Bomber Jacket & no hat) My distant # is SINATRA, but after he changed from the 1940's "Voice" 1950's or evn mid '60's would be super) PLEASE DROP THIS LOST TCM-ITE A LINE THANK YOU -
That cover is arguably not only the most famous but artisticly finest ever as yet manufactured, etc I'm only 52, but my mother had all her albums stolen from a punk kid she actually raised & that was among them-(he even stole my baby tapes?) Anyway, spin ahead yrs later & I tried tp get most of her albums back-(then of course cassette's & cd's) For the most pt I succeeded, though as most already know, those actual album covers-(like vhs one's vs. cd's) were just greater, no matter the sound. When I was real little & we lived still in Delaware, I used to love when the radio played "Hey Jude" She says I always yelled it was like he was being stabbed w/a pin. WAS THAT LENNON? & for decades she had no idea that without him there never woulda' been "THE BEATLES" My fav. of his & by a mile "IMAGINE" & OF THEM "DAY IN THE LIFE" She never got to see them in person but did go to see E;lton John in the Philly 1976 performance at the "Spectrum" Her A #1 ever ELVIS (Aaron) PRESLEY-(actually my runner-up fav. in music history, only a far distance of "THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD: FRANCIS ALBERT SINATRA!" She was local pres. of Elvis' fan club in Delaware & or Philadelphia, but when he went off to the Army & as he feared, even fans lose touch & it was only 2yrs? She did as well, mainly due to her dance training at the time that qould eventually lose her a job as the shortest NYC ROCKETT to that date at 5'3. But, yrs later she wasn't as crazy over ELVIS & the hip movemnents & his pre army stint duty. By that time COL. TOM PARKER-(l909-97)-(OFWHOM MUST NOT BE FORGOTTEN IN HISTORY, DUE TO HIM BEING A VULTURE & EVEN COULD HAVE HELPED TO THE DEMISE OF ELVIS DAD IN 1979) Had him signed under contrtacts to MGM & not roles like "Jailhouse Rock" "King creole" "Flaming Star'-(easily his top 3 finest) He wanted roles like JD, Tony Curtis-(why he turned his hair jet black) & of course most of all MARLON. Instead of asinine cookie cutter flix But, he was a man of his word & on a handshake would seal the deal in his mind, most notably PARKER. NOW, WHEN HE RE-INVENTED HIMSELF-(the white capes you name it) around `1969/70 as most know he was quite different-(AN ASIDE: also got her (2 pt dvd) what I rank as his best "ELVIS THIS IS IT" (l970) in Vegas & even CARY GRANT is in audience. Plus, the '68 comeback special & concert.. THANK & AND ENOUGH FOR NOW (FUN/.FAX: She-(mahd-Russian for mother) HATES IT WHEN I CALL "THE COOLESTGUY IN MUSIC HISTORY"-(Sinatra) SHE & OTHERS I KNOW VOTE 4 (Presley) & I'VE :LONG DUBBED "COOLEST ACTOR OF ALL-TIME: McQueen)-(my first hero as a wee-lad) & NOW PEOPLE ARE JUMPING ON THE BAN WAGON & VORTING FOR (Steve) AS "THE KING OF MOVIE COOL"-(started writing & saying that about 16yrs ago) THANX FOR YOUR PATIENCE

Very strong (***1/2) but of course no "WOODSTOCK" Also, The Band was tremendous in Scorsese's docu concert film "The Last Waltz" (l978) (TRIVIA: I'm bo no means a fan of his but J. Bieber's concert film holds the $$$$ record at over $78m. I believe. M. Jackson's "This Is It" ($72 to $75m.) THE STATE OF THE INDUSTRY HUH, SPORTS FANS???

Princess of Tap, ever as yet to see "Raisin' in the Sun" or "Edge of the City?" & always find it strange-(but not really) to see Faye in anywhere, but considering females have a tough time getting good flix nowadays, I'm not surprised. Unless they are Streep or something -

Jakeem, figured this obviously belongs in your marvelous post on "2017 films" But I had posed a couple weeks back that the working title-(he always does this) 0f Woody Allen's next, upcoming project was AMERICAN GODS think it was you that corrected me on the name recent Oscar victor *Emma Stone & J. Phoenix are pt of the deal Amazingly it will denote his 47th as a director-(but I still prefer it when he's also in the flick, how about you?) PLEASE LET ME KNOW ALL YOU KNOW ABOUT IT & A TIP OF SORTS, what have you heard about the novel Madonna purchased a couple yrs back & plans to direct it "Greta Wells?" & on that note, fan or not of hers' she did an amazing thing in 07 & wanted to know if you saw it or heard of it I have the pictures She had her image highlighted & huge on the "ROOSEVELT HOTEL" please let me know on that & the other things It's now easy to locate what she did on the net I got it out of a book on her One thing about her, she ain't shy THANK YOU

& one cool actor! I thought he was a bit older though then 68, when I 1st heard he went. Always figured he was about Nick Nolte's age-76) ever see the comic book level of violence, but entertaining 1987 Walter Hill film "Extreme Prejudice" (**1/2) both starred in that ultra-violent pic. & both were in O. stone's 1997 "U-Turn" ($7m.) (**1/2) But, as you know & I think you wrote it was his Emmy winning riveting work as Jim Jones that he'll be remembered for. He's one of those guys my mom always found attractive too. She used to really go for Nolte throught the '80's when he was everywhere, but she got turned off to Nick after 1990's Sidney Lumet crime-drama "Q & A" ($11m.) (***) (NOTE: He was incredible in that movie though & even Brando later said he thought he was robbed by the AMPAS for it. Ironically cable's been recently re-airing "Sin-City" (2005) ($75m/.) (***1/2) but I thought it's sequel was a ,mess. Madonna-(still occasionally correspond with her, depends on her mood. She's actually a bookworm) has a release coming up that she directed "Greta Wells' ever hear of it, she bought the book a few yrs ago. Just wanted to see if it's gonna' be on that thread 2017 Films? -

LAWRENCE, once again you hit it out of the TCM ballpark with this topic!!! I saw this heavy drama & found it well-made (***-ut of 4 stars) -
WALDO, yeah he & Baldwin really had a terrific rapport On that note people always talk about the hardest working man-(or woman) in showbiz, right now Alec fits that bill
-
THATS IT, YOU HIT A BULLSEYE! TCM SHOULD HIRE O'REILLY AS FULL-TIME HOST, WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK?
