#TheGentlemen is a much-welcome return to writer/director #GuyRitchie's early, ultra-written attempts to ape #Tarantino in the British underworld. He's still trying too hard, but this violent, incorrect & clever thriller is quite engaging and entertaining for it.

WOW, by no means a fan of his, though he did 2 good movies  SNATCH & LOCK, STOCK & TWO SMOKING GUN BARRELS

But later actually sued MADONNA & got it for over $190m!!!

They met during shooting of a lame (**) film called SWEPT AWAY, then it turns out how greedy the man was She in essence financed his movie then with her divorce settlement!

PENN didn't ask for a red cent from  her

  3. excellent job buddy   just about the entire soundtrack or very close to it!

I've mentioned this before, but we always have those that didn't read it or new TCM-ITES   On youtube is ENNIO & a massive orchestra conducting this-(no clips, just tremendous music)

    composing this & others

If anyone is a fan go check it out, I musta watched it 10 times since first discovering it

THANKS PAL!  Ever notice how almost at times ENNIO'S scoring of the l984 ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA it is?   & always tell people aboutthis when it comes to a directors cut vs edited/chopped up,etc AMERICA'S D/C was 3hrs and 47 minutes, but for U.S. moviegoers it was just 139 minutes!

They have always done this for us vs.European audiences, but never ever to that extent

I went to the chopped up version of course only, but have seen the directors cut a few times AFI & myself rank it among the top ten of that decade

I find it amazing, a flash of ****/genitalia will impress viewers so strongly. Often, it's the first image that comes to mind when a film is mentioned, "...did they cut the ___scene?"  Maybe that's why some filmmakers put a flash of nudity in, to be memorable?

As an artist I deal with images of nudity on a daily basis, like a nurse or caregiver. Ho-hum.

But I do love the storyline in THE LAST PICTURE SHOW of the character's losing their virginity, it's very sweet and empathetically told. I found the pool scene a liberating and joyous triumph for Jacey, despite the underlying salacious intentions of the other charactors.

That's why I want to see Texasville so badly, to find out what happened to Jacey. Obviously, the charactors are very "real" to me.

m not alone in saying this either COOPER, along with W.C. FIELDS seem to be forgotten a lot thesedays, especially the later?

I know on here they are fond of COOP, but in general ^& especially in this era we live

AFI even ranked him down the list at #11th

I'm looking forward to THE MAN WHO NEVER WAS; I've never seen it. Clifton Webb is one of my favorites. I even named one of my cats in his honor!

Webb's niche in HOLLYWOOD FOREVER, CEM   isn't closed tight all the way & is ALWAYS in HOLLYWOOD ghost stories, even his fmr house was-(now gone) was said to be haunted

There seems to be a correlation between smoking and cool. Bogart and Newman knew how to smoke cool. Any actor that can talk without losing his/her cigarette is cool.

there used to be, but nowadays you can't really smoke on tv, ever since l97l  the first dangers of smoking is said to be in an article in readers digest in l953 though
