been thinkin about the big country last few days and I think Heston was miscast as jim leach. he's wasted because he's not nearly the main character and for him to have picked a role that puts hin in the background after starring in DeMille's greatest film The Ten Commandments I think was a mistake.
I doan like the film and I doan like carroll baker and McKay made too much of an issue outta tryng to prove whatta paragon of virtue he is.
Nipkow, your avatar is among my favs on these forums Speaking of lee Marvin, AFI rane4d CAT BALLOU among Hollywoods Best Westerns? Loved that since i was 6 though & would actually pour water on my face to stay awake to watch it coming on tv!

Caan wore lg lifts as Santino-(sonny) he was barely 5'10, same as brando, cazale & duvall
I've seen footage of these enormous shoes before
Maybe 3 inches
al was barely 5'6

Personally don't really agree when fans bash III from l990) (made $67m.) I think it's good (***) at best but maybe to much time had past for Coppola?
l990 was the pinnacle yr of the gangster movie with it, GoodFellas, State of Grace, Miller's Crossing-(brilliant), The Krays, Men of Respect if you count it a gangster film Dick Tracy & others

Maybe they're gun-shy now, considering the flack they get from celebrating anything at all anytime.
I know some stuff gets flack, but didn't know about birthday's?
Makes no sense of course

No idea. Though I am sure that if TCM could find a way to obtain the rights, at a reasonable cost, they would do it. And probably build a specific theme around it.
IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) has also never aired on TCM.
thanx

Do you agree, Mr. Mankiewicz doing them is just not the same thing?

He woulda scoffed at bothering with this, very much so, but did tcm pay tribute-(I was away) to Spencer Tracy's would be 120th birthday on April 5th???
Bette Davis is usually more the focus on the same date

How about shorts like Joe McDoakes, Crime Does Not Pay, Robert Benchley or Vitaphone Shorts all day/night long. Just keep them on loop mode.
I love any of the tcm shorts more then the features Now we get tv commercials at the theatre first

obviously a huge segment of the choices you made have to do with the scores!

They're Paramount, you can watch them every-freakin'-where ELSE.
but as I said the network of all movie networks can't be complete without them, shouldn't have to rent them, or pay elsewhere to see them, tcm is the pinnacle

Knowing fans on here also like Westerns, do you have any of the top fastest gunfights in history that come to mind?
But in reality historians insist it didn't happen like say in SHANE, ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST & others & that gunfighters would rather somewhat hide in the streets then have an all out battle , standing in a face off Closest all say was of course THE OK CORRAL & WILD BILL HICKOCK once killed a man in pretty much a street gunfight
-
You did such a superlative job! Hope there are more

Not exactly pleasant jazz, but what about THE ROAD WARRIOR?
