The legendary JOHN WAYNE has two, mainly Ford & the other Harry Carey, Sr Hence to famous grabbing of her arm at the finale of THE SEARCHERS, Carey was known for that back into the silent era (P.S. Surprise a lot more didn't cite THE DUKE here yet I sound like and old man at just 55, but thesedays you run into people who never even heard of him or Bob Hope?

TRACY since '80 was my A #1 & still is far and away my favorite actor, but within the last 22 yrs since his death THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD: SINATRA is my personal idol of any male celebrity Was even in a marvelous fan club based down here in Lakeland typically though it folded? If only 1961's ok (**1/2) Devil at 4 0'Clock coulda been better though & on my list & I know tons hate her is MADONNA (Louise) CICCONE & she had several heroes/idols, bet you can't recognize one of them Martha Graham. David Bowie Rav Ashlag & somewhat Dietrich I'm much more a fanatic due to her epic concerts-(11) then her vids though

Although McQUEEN was far and away my hero as a kid until age 15, GUILTY_PLEASURE IS ALSO EVEL KNIEVEL My mom even bought me the action toys

Lemmon was among only 13 to receive the UCLA SpencerTracy Award Ironically upon rec. that award (M. Freeman was the last to date) he called Tracy his own idol It's a long story why UCLA stopped doing it though Think it's USC that awards a Bette Davis Award

yes, and along with CHAPLIN arguably the most famous movie star of all-time (TRIVIA: He was Steve McQueen's own idol by the way & once got to meet him, man, were they loaded)
-
All always say that WALT DISNEY is interred closest to TRACY, bt FLYNN is even close-(same wall) & for some reason for yrs Ida Lupino hid the fact she's laid to rest right nxt to FLYNN, now it's easy to see

I'm with Sepia on this one, not the porno names LOL but so many. that I admire. For actresses these are some of my favorites although I could think of a dozen more. Barbara Stanwyck Myrna Loy Doris Day Olivia de Havilland Katharine Hepburn Bette Davis Kay Francis Ginger Rogers and I admire Debbie Reynolds not just for the talent but as a person I agree with with speedy and sage, Mary Tyler Moore in her Mary Richards role. COOL

Think it was my 2nd vacation to whats left of Hollywood in Nov.00, when most on the tour bus wanted to see where FLYNN's famed mansion was, but the treepeople blocked everybody out! Of course on MULHOLLAND DR

Just pondering the great fans on here & what actors & or actresses are not only your personal favorite's, but which one's would you go so far as to rate your HEROES & IDOLS? Before I was a bona fide movie buff around 1979 at the age of 15 it was THE KING F MOVIE COOL: STEVE McQUEEN & then I wondered why the likes of Mike Douglas the tv talk show host & Tom Snyder would always say and THE GREAT: SPENCER TRACY whenever films came up & all, so I found out & he's been my A 1 since around '70 or l980 But overall if you can cross gender's my top 4 to 5 are now> NATALIE WOOD MADONNA-(I know your laughing & it's not because of her 26 flix, long, long personal story) FRANCIS (Albert) SINATRA SPENCER TRACY & THE GREAT ONE: JACKIE GLEASON-(The Real Mr. Television & not Berle) So, if you like who are yours THANK YOU

I've posted this list before a few times but think it's perfect for your topic as well In 06 AFI-(American Film Institute) had a rather quiet special & another survey on the top 25 all-time greatest scores It was held at The Hollywood Bowl & conducted by John Williams-(l932-) (*-Indicates an Oscar winner) Only the top dozen out of 25 listed Hope it adds to your topic 1st place Star wars (l977) (John Williams)* 2. Gone With the wind (l939) (Max Steiner) 3. Lawrence of Arabia (l962) (Maurice Jarre)* 4. The Godfather (l972) (Carmine Coppola and Nino Rota) 5th place Psycho (l960) (Bernhard Herrmann) 6. Laura (David Raksin_) 7. Jaws (l975) (John Williams)* 8. The Magnificent 7 (l960) (Elmer Bernstein) 9. Chinatown (l974) (Jerry Goldsmith) 10th place High Noon (l952) (Dimitri Tiomkin)* 11. The Adventures of Robin Hoof (l938) (Erich Wolfgang Korngold)* 12th Vertigo (l958) (B. Herrmann) (P.S. my own favorite scores didn't make the cut though both Once Upon a Time in the west (l969) & America (l984) (Ennio Morricone) But he was always taken for granted in his almost 92yrs of living THANK YOU VERY MUCH to quote ELVIS
