Most probably & or know of tv's superb series The Sopranos=-(l999-2007) well some cast members told of their idols, fav movies & more & on many fronts Creator DavidChase idolized Cagney above all and Public Enemy had been his favorite film his entire life. As for star James Gandolfini-(l961-2013)his hero was Bogart, & Paulie Walnutsactor also always idolized James Cagney Virginia Mayo-(l920-2005) was on the money in a tcm interview, during The Studio-System Hollywood would never give an Oscar to a Gangster Role-(speaking of Cagney as Cody Jarrett in White Heat) Plus, during that era he always had to die by the finish\ As for Cagney himself personally he was bored portraying bad guys& loved dancing by far. It was his idea to make Cody nuts in WH otherwise he considered it another hack job Only it's script made the cut come Oscar nominee time, same goes for Little Caesar &Public Enemy Speaking of Organized Crime & Hollywood Joey Gallo-(died in '71) he literally based his entire life & persona on Richard Widmark (Tommy Udo( in 1947's Kiss of Death, right down to his own wardrobe & the infamous Bugsy Siegel-(l906-l947) wanted into acting in Tinsel-Town, even getting a screen test His closest pal & actorGeorge Raft895-l980) was the only person to attend his 1947 funeral at Hollywood Forever, ****-*it borders Paramount) Raft's was also the only Cagney called eventougherthen him when the two started out in NYC's Hell;s Kitchen

Dig this garbage they even plan to git ridof the famed RKO GLOBE on the corner of Gower & Melrose & nowadays has been 1/2 of Paramount Pictures The original RKO Studios-(l929--l960) shared the lot with that famous studio Dream Factory They try not to tell tourists visiting on the Paramount tour about Kong & Kane & Fred & Ginger,etc but if your on the lot &step over a crack you go back in time architecture wise t the 1930's & Joseph Kennedy-\(1886-l969) opened the studio in '29 ^ had that globe installed. On all three trips I got lucky &stayed in exact same motel a stone's throw away & also very close was The Ravenswood Ats So massive they can be seen from way up at Griffith Park 0bservatory, due to it's ultra red lights Mae West-(l893-l980) lived there 48rs & also passed away there

Even more classic Hollywood filed in & near Culver studios Harold Lloyd, 0ur Gang used to shoot on Atlantic Ave in the back, as did once in awhile with Hal Roach Stan & Ollie

But, for now the legendary Thalberg Bldg remains The 40 is in regard to just down the street Selznicks old Culver City Studios-(which has no tours) & Lucy bought out his back 40 acres at one time. Tons of classics were filmed at Culver City studios-(Thomas Ince Blvd) is just outside*GWTW-(they say you can still view the façade of the mansion from the frt gates) Duel in the Sun, (NOTE: To editing team words are being eatin again!) I've been handicapping the Academy Awards this marking my 38 th year actually & again this may be-(NOT A FINAL PREDICTION) Where once again Best Picture and Best Director split? Meaning The Irishman may take the biggie & Parasite Best Direction of the Year? In the last decade they have split 4 times, something that rarely occurred in the old days

According to Forbes annual report on the Highest Pd$$$ Actors-(The Rock again) & Actresses-(Johansson) Scarlett was the highest paid for 2019 It was a given for a few yrs it would be either Jennifer Lawrence or Jolie, not now, Plus, Scarlett has 2 roles that may earn her her first shots at the Oscars.

Just curious of this group, the finest on film on the net today! Of the top three Bing Crosby-(Harry Lillis) (l903-l977) , Frank Sinatra (Francis (Alert) Sinatra (l9l5-98) and Elvis Aaron Presley (l935-l977) Who is not just your personal favorite, but also throw in their films as well of course the threesome's music career,etc? & given it's The Holidays/Christmas all 3 all-time giants contributed to the holiday as well I have a ton of stats I could throw in, but just want to see your favs first THANKS & HOPE YOU VOTE HERE

Steve, once again you dug up something special pal, I was way ahead of the crowd in regard to thinking Blade Runner was something special in the great cinematic year of l982 I was only 17 to 18 that yr my debut year going to 36-60 new movies & oddsmaking UNCLE OSCAR. I must admit I did pretty lousy predicting them though that yr. But I gave ten new flix 4 stars for '82 E.T., Tootsie, The Verdict, Sophie's Choice, Das Boot, Diner, Blade Runner, Garp, Richard Pryor Live on the Sunset Strip & The Road warrior & almost wit h the 8 time sweeping bio Gandhi Now, you rarely find 1 new release excellent. Question, how did you come o pick that sequence vs Tears in the Rain with the now already late Rutger Hauer, in what shoulda been an Oscar nominated role That glorious score by Vangelis, Art-Direction & Visuals deserved to win in my humble opinion. It only grossed $33m domestically & I know there are fans of the recent Blade Runner 2049 (**) but I;m not one of them, especially compared to that original At any rate thanx again & see page 8 or 9
