  1. WHAT HAPPENED FOLKS, NOMORE MARVELOUS CLIPS??? Can someone teach me how exactly to be able to get a clip from elsewhere onto here?
  2. To Jake Holman, sure would like your e mail because of my knowledge of McQueen & such don't know your age, I just turned 55 & he was my very first hero & or idol in the '70's Evel Knievel was my other one back then. Please drop my a line at (jeffshannon50@gmail.com) I correspond with lots that came fr9m these boards as well I was **** when Citadel went under just before I could get his films of book & his relationship with NATALIE & so on Matter of fact much to my surprise when first visited her grave (April if 1999) it was a big surprise to see a rather fresh grave right along side f NATALIE;S, it turned out to be his daughter Terry McQueen who only made it to age 38 She & her remain9ng family had to have been close to NAASHA to get that close. His family genetically did not have a good bloodline, though son Chad is about 57 now & looks more & more like hi9s old man al the tie. I even briefly corresoponded yrs back with him too So please drop me a line or as many as you like t chat about STEVE! Again it's (jeffshannon50@gmail.com) & I;m on FB under Spencer Shannon too THANKS
  3. To Jake, I man Steve, another good one buddy I now think it's safe to say Bobby De will not earn his 8th acting shot in The Irishman, but he co produced thee crime epic so may win a 3rd statue when if claims BP Gold & this goes way back but the Academy truly robbed him for 1973;s Mean Streets as Jonny Boy unhinged
  4. Matter of fact Wolf of Wall Street is the new champion of "F" words Former champ was Do the Right Thing l989
  5. Also, I don't care what it's detractors say it's my A #1 of that decade
  6. Good goin once again Jake, I rate it easily in his to five best myself Grossed $80m & went O for 1O come Oscar ight in Hollywood?
  7. This epic of epic's is great filmmaking all-around & my candidate as our finest living actor D. Day-Lewis shoulda won yet another Best Actor Oscar ^ to be defeated by Adrien Brody was even more bizarre world? I think he & Nicholson in About Schmidt split the vote Once again D. Day created another all-time character for cinema
  8. Thank You hamradio, for this intelligent info, I've seen all the docu's especially when the epic was released Lincoln was never held accountable for these 1864 draft riots in NYC either???
  9. I was very young at only 16 & wasn't a regular Oscar pundit until '82, but like everyone knew Redford's great but really seemed like a tv movie Ordinary People was gonna sweep the Academy Awards that year, just as Kramer vs. Kramer had the previous year & over such heavyweights as Apocalypse Now, All That Jazz, Being There & Manhattan. The connection being they were safer BP winners hen RB,etc Which stunningly on took home statuette's for Bob & Editing? In realty Pesci & of course Scorsese deserved to also win The Golden Boy as great as winner Timothy Hutton is in OP it;s really the leading role of the picture & they should have nommed him vs De Niro.. After all who talks about Ordinary People and Kramer today?
  10. AFI (American Film Institute) in it's revised survey of 2007 voted it 4th all-timer
  11. Simply put the greatest Boxing Film ever Made, Greatest Sports Film, One of the top 5 Greatest Motion Pictures Ever Made, with De Niro in one of the greatest performances ever, up there with Welles in Kane, Tracy in Inherit the Wind, Olivier in Richard III ^ Chaplin in City Lights
  12. Again to Rudys Girl, 4 big stars for the clips! Easily must rank among Hollywoods all-time top 5 courtroom dramas But for Monty Clift it was hell, forgetting his lines & a lot more from drugs & alcohol, of all people it was The Great Spencer Tracy that personally assisted Clift into remembering much, even George M. Cohan-(l878-l942) was quoted as saying "Spencer Tracy Your the Best damn Actor That Ever Lived" unquote Sole debit for me & I really like him, but the casting of Lancaster in a role meant for Olivier William Shatner is about the sole person still alive from the epic at 88 now often speaks of this film & the first tie he aw Tracy enter the rom/courtroom & was in awe instantly noting his very white hair & jet black rbe as he 1st saw the finest film actor that ever lived Sole debit, a superb Maximilian Schell took home the Best Actor statue vs. support? THANK YOU
  13. A big thanks to Rudy's Girl for submitting these heavyweight scenes! So your a big fan if Cagney huh, we could go over a ton of stories on Jim-(he disliked Jimmy) & had more tremendous ending then any other actor in Old Hollywood Angels With Dirty Faces, Roaring Twenties, White Heat, Yankee Doodle Dandy, etc A TIP there is a great docu/special on youtube I believe where just after Ragtime (l98l) he was interviewed on his life & career CHECK IT OUT!!! & yet the real JAMES CAGNEY would sit in silence on his porch & cry at the rain even Spence wrote in his diary that the best films of his career (74 movies) were Captains Courageous and Nuremberg
  14. Still any chance of someone submitted one of Cagney's dynamic endings or the final speech by Tracy in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?
  15. there was a mediocre (**) tv remake with Val Kilmer
  16. You may already know this bit of fact-based trivia but John Wayne was the first choice to portray Will Kane, he turned it & tv's Gunsmoke down though You rarely if ever hear people mention the legendary 2 time Oscar winning Coop anymore?
  17. yet another strong one you dug up! Ever see the same yrs Rob Roy with Liam Neeson?
  18. excellent film 4 stars! & I coulda easily seen Steve McQueen in that role 10yrs earlier
  19. (TRIVIA: Oscar nominee Chazz Palminteri's idol is Emanual Golderg Eddie G.) Most have probably seen his tcm tribute to him
  20. But he didn't go out like JAMES (FRANCIS) CAGNEY-(l899-l986)
  21. oh, that's it, it had a superb conclusion been studying this masterpiece since 1979 as a teen & yet another Oscar snub for Edward G.
  22. the are funny stuff, though yet to see the alan arkin installment
  23. right now I see her winning the Globe, but no Academy shot
  24. I;m still going to it myself, it's still CLINT The Mule (**1/2) did well
  25. many critics/historians strongly feel he deserved to be in the Oscars
