There's a movie with the following plot. Rich guy gets another guy (martin sheen?) to go on an aircraft carrier (captain: Kirk Douglas?) for a special mission. The carrier gets caught in a time warp and goes back to Dec. 7, 1941, pacific ocean. They all witness japanese planes headed for pearl harbor and another pleasure boat, owned by a senator (played by Charles Durning), get shot at. They decide they can't interfere and need to go back to their time. They save the senator and his secretary (the actress who rode the bicycle with Paul Newman in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid), and then a history buff on the ship and the woman get stranded on an island, and the senator dies (like he was supposed to before the intervention). THe ship goes back, and the rich guy turns out to have been the history buff, who married the lady and presumably became rich by knowing what was going to happen in history. The rich guy planned for Martin Sheen to go on the boat so it could all happen.
I bought a previously-viewed version of "the philladelphia story," thinking that was this movie and received a rude awakening. I'm now dying to see this movie again, but don't remember what it was called. Help please
