You Can't Take it With You. This was on just the other day. Dini

He was also in Executive Suite with Shelley Winters as his lover. That was on just last night on TCM. I'll watch anything he's in ... he has an "honest man" appeal. Dini

Thanks for listing those! I'm not always up just after dawn so I'll scope out which to tape! Dini

The format is interesting and I believe their programming does attempt to address different preferences: Silents, Foreign, or one of my favs, Darkness After Dawn film noir, The Essentials for the newbies. I have seen all the Oscar films, too, but I still watch them to find something new that I may have missed in previous viewings. But then I'm very analytical and also try to learn from viewing the artists' work. I agree with the other poster that I haven't been getting much sleep. And I need a new supply of video tapes. So many movies, so little time! Dini

I think the horse antics were spontaneous too. Animals do the darndest things! I wonder how many takes that scene took or if it was just all that wonderful! This film is one of my favorites. The snappiest wit and priceless timing is the tops.

Kim Carol/Carroll (sp?)?? Who is this?
maperette replied to maperette's topic in Information, Please!
Mongo, Thank you so much for the information. I don't believe I've ever seen her before (I'll have to research this new-found info!) And I kinda knew it wasn't Conte but I couldn't think of who it was. Thanks again, Dini -
How about Anne Revere and Flora Robson? With each in their hey-day, Burt Reynolds and Marlon Brando. And Bette Davis and Merle Oberon? Great thread! Dini

I just caught the last part of a short piece with Richard Conte (I believe) and a woman announced as Kim Carol, or Carroll (sp?). The man (Conte?) was playing Rhapsody in Blue. She sang Body and Soul to a group of GIs. Is Kim her real name? Who is this beauty? Lovely singing voice, too. Many thanks for any help.

William Powell was a good drunk ... he had plenty of practice being the martini man in all the Thin Man movies. They made it look like such fun! Myrna Loy too!!

Thanks for the info. I already have both, but I was exposed to them completely by accident -- not a movie channel. I'm happy to tape them versus buying DVDs, etc., but I just wonder how many other great films I'll miss because of limited distribution. Dini

Does anyone know why some titles seem to never air on any movie channel? For example, I have never seen Great Expectations (Jean Simmons, John Mills, Alec Guiness) scheduled on any channel, ever. Yet it is one of David Lean's great ones. Or Brief Encounter, also by David Lean? Or have I just missed them? Many thanks, Dini

If anyone sees All About Eve on any channel (w/o commercials), please post. I have been trying to catch this film for quite a while. (I enjoy George Sanders' role ... he's such a good bad-guy!) Dini

Katharine Hepburn YES but WHY? Cher??
maperette replied to mallen8486's topic in General Discussions
I agree with bansi4. It demonstrates the wide variety of personalities that have been influenced by Kate. Actually, it made me think of Cher in a different way, how she "grounds" herself with Hepburn movies while she travels. It is the contrast of Kate and Cher that delivers the stronger statement, although I consider them equally strong women in their own beliefs (even though it is Kate I most admire).
