  1. Why doesn't TCM show Louise Brooks movies? I see they are promoting her movie Pandora's Box because it is now on DVD, yet there is not one of her movies scheduled. She would be a great star of the month.
  2. Stoneyburke say it isn't so! You can't leave - if it wasn't for you, there would be very little stimulating conversation going on here.
  3. This was my favorite intro. I also liked syncopation station which is also gone. They must have some new "suits" (as stoneyburke likes to say) saying "out with the old, in with the new!" at TCM.
  4. Ok, I drove by and they are having a liquidation sale. Too bad.
  5. Just because I think Benji is an awful movie does NOT make me an animal hater. I know crap when I see it.
  6. Barbara Stanwyck Norma Shearer Robert Montgomery, yes I know he's had one but he was in so many good movies, and I need to record Ride the Pink Horse.
  7. Very hokey indeed, and only a very young child (like 5) would be interested. This movie is so bad, I have to wonder why TCM continues to show this embarrassment.
  8. It looks like it is, but I'll have to check it out.
  9. I don't know what all the hoopla is about, I've always liked him.
  10. It is a shame. I live down the street from the original Tower store, built in 1960. Originally the records were sold at the Tower drug store in downtown Sacramento, which is attached to the Tower Theatre, still in use.

No, I disagree as to when the Cavett show > should be on, I like it where it is, and its over in > December anyway. I would never suggest they interview a young star, as there are no stars anymore. No one today compares to the stars of the golden age. I just don't like seeing my favorite stars when they are way past their prime being interviewed by that Dick Cavett. I did thoroughly enjoy the Private Screenings, Robert Osborne does a much better job interviewing in my opinion. I would have preferred seeing some good Bette Davis movie in place of Dick Cavett.
  13. Thanks NortBanba, you got the gist of what I was saying.
  14. I love love love vintage clothing and decor especially from that era, so I would be very interested in something like that.
  15. > Ditch Dick Cavett on prime time and show a movie. > These interviews should be shown at another slow > time when people don't care if they see a movie or > not. I wish they would do that, put Dick Cavett at 6am and show a precode (which is always at 6am) during prime time. I've noticed that usually the best movie of the day is the one at 6am. Besides, I don't care to see actors when they are 100 years old being interviewed by that hack.
  16. I really liked the intro/promo (whatever) for the Private Screenings, it is classy and more in tune with what I would expect to see on TCM.
  17. I hope you're not directing this at me, as I agree with you and have been saying what you're saying for a long time.
  18. I wouldn't call having one channel among hundreds that we can count on for classic/old movies without obnoxious commercials/promos being stagnant.
  19. I don't dislike all things current, just most. There are a handful of newer movies that I like very much, such as Room With a View, The Notebook, Howard's End, Gladiator, and Cinderella Man for example.
  20. I will agree with you on that.

Monty, it sounds like you are getting the same programming we are here.
  22. > > But I realize you people only see what you want to > see, so I'll let you go on believing what you want. > You keep doing the same, brad. With all the time you spend on these boards, how do you have time to watch anything?
  23. Welcome Peggy24, you just said what I have been saying for awhile now.
