Many of us feel the way you do pktrekgirl. We see the gradual change away from all classic movies all the time to what it is now and is becoming. In order to show us these talk shows, shorts, etc. they have to take away from the classics, and it is frustrating to those of us who tune in to see those old movies that are not shown anywhere else.

Why the Dislike of the 70's and Beyond?
sweetbabykmd replied to Ipcress's topic in General Discussions
Although I dislike most movies from the mid sixties and beyond, I do like The Graduate. I think it's because of the soundtrack though, and I like looking at the sets and scenery because it came out the year I was born. -
And you. You yourself are guilty of being uncivil. I think what you said to Fred was extremely rude and below the belt.
-
I'm just making a point. He has been quite rude to anyone with differing opinions and I feel it's ok to give it back to him.

"The thoughts you indicated that flashed in your mind whilst enjoying TheShortsCircuit, crossed my mind too, Robert. But fortunately, only fleetingly, for I attribute very little credence to naysayers." That's funny SamTherapy, because I attribute very little credence to those of you that applaud every single change that TCM makes to their regular programming. I'm sure they could start showing porn and you guys would still be cheering them on.

> So what is TCM to do? It seems you can't ever please > everybody all the time.>> > > Mr Ranger, > > If the postings on this entire board as of late are > any indication, TCM can't please anyone all the time. Actually TCM could please all of the people all of the time, if they stuck to showing the old classic movies, which is what everyone expects from TCM. Not modern movies, not Japanese cartoons, not modern shorts (which belong on the Bravo channel), not 70's talk shows, just the old movies. No one could complain about that because everyone knows TCM is here just to show those movies from the golden age of Hollywood. There are other channels for all the rest of that stuff.

For the poll: I dislike the promo, I am not watching Janus films, they do not look interesting to me.
-
Those townspeople, Karl Malden yelling all the time, the old lady, some of the things Eli Wallach does......
-
I never thought they did. Maybe I'm just naive. Most of that movie cracked me up.
-
Gosh I don't feel that way at all about this movie, and it's one of my favorites.

And > yet you still drink Coke. > > Gulp that one down. > > I'm thirsty. To me the promo doesn't promote anything. Yes I remember it's TCM but I don't know what they are promoting because it isn't clear. I don't associate a hard looking woman who just rolled out of bed with a man then prances around with a telescope then goes outside and pulls off her top - with anything TCM related. It would have been much better to have a woman dressed in (30's or 40's) period clothing, and period music reflecting the era of the golden age of Hollywood.

unfortunately that idiot has many personas so this will keep happening until he gets through all of them.
-
You too can believe what you want to believe. I have been watching TCM for 5 years now so I know of what I speak.

They repeat many movies each month. You can be sure though, if you miss a really good movie - usually a precode- they won't be repeating that one ever again.

I don't watch any of those channels so I am not affected.

Hedy Lamarr: The Most Beautiful Star!
sweetbabykmd replied to GarboManiac's topic in General Discussions
When did the TCM forums turn into a cancer support group? -
The reason TCM shows so many repeats is they really don't have very many movies to show. They only show Warner Bro. movies and certain other movies made after a certain year, yada yada yada..... if they are from other companies like Paramount, Columbia, etc. They have to lease/rent? from these other companies and even then tend to get the newer movies when they do that.

I'm still trying to figure out why she smears lipstick on her face, and why does she go out on the balcony and take her top off? Like Fred asked in another thread, is she going to jump?

Silly isn't it?

He is causing quite a mess. Wish he would stop. Must have a lot of time on his hands.

FILMS THAT ARE NO LONGER BROADCAST-BRING THEM BACK!
sweetbabykmd replied to ganavon1's topic in Your Favorites
I have been wanting to see this movie, why doesn't TCM show it? It's not a Paramount so what gives? -
I am looking forward to the movie, even though Affleck is playing Reeves. Looks like lots of period movies coming out this fall, which I prefer.
-
I agree with you KathleenT. And by the way, nice name - it's mine too.
