  1. I don't know why they do this. I now rarely watch TCM in the evenings when I am home, I have to watch DVD recordings of the good movies they show in the middle of the night. Even during Bette Davis nights they had the rarely shown earlier Bette Davis movies in the middle of the night, and the movies they show all the time at prime time.
  2. It seems to me that the movie database is just a database of any movies, whether or not TCM carries that movie. For instance I can look up The Glass Key and it just says that this movie is not planned to show in the next few months, but I know it will not ever show because they don't even have it.
  3. You're funny, but I don't think others would be too happy. I wouldn't show any modern movies and no cutesy themes. Just the good old movies from Hollywood's golden era.
  4. Is there something on this website to tell us which movies are available to be shown on TCM?
  5. I guess Honey I Shrunk the Kids is classic too. There are tons of 50's Sci Fi movies they could show us under the theme of "weird science".
  6. That line was hilarious, that's a great movie.
  7. I wonder whose great idea it was to show the Clara Bow documentary at 2am? Of course we get the modern drek tonight and Sunday at primetime. Too many post 60's movies this month for my taste.
  8. Yes, she was great in The Bad Seed, one of my favorites.
  9. Thanks Fred, I have been waiting to see those two films. I will have to make a request and maybe TCM will air them again someday.
  10. So they're doing a documentary in the middle of the night, and not showing any of her movies?
  11. Does TCM ever show Clara Bow movies? I don't think I've ever seen one or it's been a very long time.
  12. I agree with you Fred. There are ways to get younger viewers to TCM without tampering with the programming.
  13. "However, I find myself smiling at the title of this thread, only because of an I Love Lucy episode with Hans Conreid (remember him, remember Uncle Tonoose?)." That's funny, I think of that episode as well whenever I hear those 2 words.
  14. It seems to me that they do show a lot of English movies, or at least they were a few months back.
  15. I wish they would show the film noir movies at night, instead of at 5am.
  16. Yes I do post them. A couple of years ago I requested Bed of Roses (1933) and they finally did show it. I am still waiting for TCM to show The World of Susie Wong.
  17. Unfortunately you never can know if TCM will show it again or not, if it doesn't show up in the next 3 months schedules. I have waited 2 years for a movie to reappear, and another I am going on about 5 years now. Certain movies are shown monthly or every couple of months, others aren't.
  18. I thought Fred said he watched the 1863 Academy Awards......
  19. Some of us record movies from TCM because they show the rarely shown movies in the middle of the night, and other good classics during the day. Those of us who work must record them in order to watch them. It also gives us something good to watch on the weekend nights when TCM likes to show the not so classics or often repeated classics. I am also saving these DVD recordings in case the unthinkable happens and TCM starts showing commercials or just goes away. I will have an excellent collection of the old classics that I love.
  20. I have brought up this point many times. For instance tonight we get Bad News Bears - yuck! I am a working person and it would be nice to turn on TCM on a Friday or even Saturday night and actually watch what is on, instead of watching DVDs of what was on at 2am yesterday. We have all these great Bette Davis movies this month, but the precodes and rare ones are shown between midnight and 6am, and you know those won't be repeated, just the ones shown at primetime that we have all seen many times already.
  21. How is the quality when you record in that mode where you can get 3 to a disc?
