  1. Wow, thanks. I would never have figured that out.
  2. Susanb, I think you are referring to Lovers and Other Strangers? That was really bad, and to top it off it was in pan and scan. Moviemeister you are definitely not alone. Many of us resort to watching what we record off TCM during the middle of the night (which is when the better movies are run) during 31 days of Oscar, so we have something to watch during primetime. Thank goodness March and April are full of the great older films!
  3. What do the letters RKO stand for? I guessed R is for Radio but I can't figure the K, O.
  4. TCM doesn't do anything like that. My fiance records from TCM almost daily and our DVD's come out fine. He uses Taiyo Yuden DVDs.
  5. Well I liked that idea, it was a view you never get to see in movies.
  6. I for one would love to try but don't have that kind of time, so I'm looking forward to what FredCDobbs or daddysprimadonna or Leo might come up with... my tastes tend to run closer to theirs.
  7. I think Lady In the Lake is an excellent example of a great noir film.
  8. I guess it just seems worse because all the modern movies are on at primetime and Saturdays, and many of the best older movies are on between midnight and 6am. I was glad to see there will be a Film Noir movie on each Saturday in March, but now I realize it is on at 8am, not 8pm. I wish these kinds of movies would be shown at primetime more often. Oh well.
  9. So then you are stating that in 2006 we will only see 5 movies from the 80's and one from the 90's, excluding the month of February? And are you counting just the movie regardless of how many times they repeat it? It just doesn't sound right to me.
  10. Well then Slagman I'm guessing you are not watching much of TCM since most of the movies after early 50's are widescreen. Why wouldn't you want to see the entire movie as it was meant to be seen? I watch TCM and rent widescreen movies on my 19" tv and have no problems. Maybe you guys need glasses?
  11. The trouble is they wouldn't bump crapola, it would be something good like the Saturday night Noir they are starting in March or something. I'd rather let the other networks give him a tribute.
  12. TCM and FoodNetwork are the only 2 channels I watch. It would be so much more convenient if they would let us get just those channels we watch at a reduced price.
  13. Did they have 31 days of Oscar back in 2000? If they did I bet they didn't inundate us with all the 80's and 90's movies like they did this month. I don't see how you can say they are showing the same amount of newer films today as they did back then, and you cannot compare this February's schedule to an October schedule. Now as for the March schedule it is a vast improvement compared to the last couple of months and is more in tune with what one would expect from TCM.
  14. If they do show one Don Knott's movie that is the one I would hope they pick.
  15. You guys can pause all you want, but I'm just saying there is nothing in there to warrant any kind of tribute.
  16. A tribute to Don Knotts would not be appropriate for TCM, it would be however on Nick at Night. This is a classic movie station, or at least it used to be.
  17. That's YOUR opinion. If they keep having nights like tonight's the end really is near. By the way, only 5 movies from the 80's and one from the 90's is not the same programming that we have now. Message was edited by: sweetbabykmd
  18. If they are renting from other sources when are they going to rent something good like The Glass Key or something of that caliber?
  19. God I hope TCM doesn't waste valuable airtime on Don Knotts. He was more of a sit com actor, not a classic movie actor. The only movie he was in that was any good was No Time For Sergeants.
  20. What about tonight's lineup? This has to be the worst night this month. I guess it's another DVD Saturday night for me.
