I will have to disagree. Although I did enjoy The Aviator, Beyond the Sea, and De-Lovely, I still don't need to see those on TCM. Did anyone else notice that Back To The Futurewas on TBS tonight at the same time TCM was airing it? I don't think he expected this to turn into a political discussion, when the point was TCM is showing crap in February under the guise of 31 Days of Oscars. I for one can't wait for this month to be over so I can resume watching TCM on a regular basis again.

FredCDobbs, I agree with what you state. I was supposed to fly back home today but there is a snow storm here, so I have to stay in and watch movies. So far I was not at all impressed with the VIP's and Darling Lili. Tonight will suck as bad as last night did unfortunately. Luckily I have DVD's recorded from TCM's good times so I will be watching those.

Yes, you can very successfully record movies off TCM on a DVD recorder and they play on any DVD player. You may run into a bad disc now and again but that isn't related to TCM.

Sorry allieharding, but you are quite wrong. I am a Gen-Xer and not only do I think the anime is crap, and more often than not the movies made after the 1960's were crap, but I had to look up Jon Stewart to see who that guy was, and he looks like an idiot.

I guess it seems like there are more modern movies on TCM now than before because they are always on at primetime or weekends, which is the times that I am able to tune in. I noticed someone a few days ago brought up a schedule from I believe 1999. It only had less than 5 movies from the 80's and one from the 90's. That is how I would prefer TCM, but you can't have it all. I also noticed the mission statement doesn't say anything about showing movies from the 90's and beyond. I guess this wouldn't bother me so much if they would distribute them throughout the day and in the middle of the night (where I am finding the best and the rarely shown movies lately). Thank goodness for DVD recorders.

I agree normandie7. It is sometimes painful to watch the remakes.

Now Sugarpuss, FredcDobbs and Constarkel have both made clear what I was trying to point out. I was only trying to state that the modern movies are available everywhere, and for free on every other tv channel or the library if you don't live in the sticks. And by the way, yes, you can record from the DVDs you rent, I do it every day. Johnnyweeks, none of your points were compelling, the movies you mentioned with the exception of Benji were movies that do belong on TCM anyways.

I think Constarkel's point was that the modern movies they choose to show us are always movies that are available for rent somewhere, or even for free at your local library. Many or most of the older movies are not available anywhere, so we turn to TCM to watch or record.

Bravo has definitely gone down the tubes.

Thanks Kyle. You were not responsible for the boiling blood. I know exactly what you mean about the Bravo channel. My fiance actually lobbied his cable company to provide the Bravo channel years ago, and now it is NEVER watched. As for the Thursday night anime, my daughters (one of which loves anime) only looked at it for a couple of minutes, and that was it, channel was changed back to Disney Channel.
