That movie really sucks. And that French girl is disturbing to look at.
-
That's almost as bad as this from Summer Lovers, when Daryl Hannah walks in on her boyfriend and the French girl in bed together: Peter Gallagher: "Aren't you angry?" Daryl Hannah: "Why should I be angry when the two people that I love the most are making love?"

Finally received my copy of The Glass Key with Veronica Lake, Brian Donlevy, and Alan Ladd. Really enjoyed it, wish TCM had this in their library. I would like to see more movies with Brian Donlevy.
-
Thanks. I was looking for it on the website.

You took the words right out of my mouth!
-
Where does it show future stars of the month?
-
I have the same feeling.
-
Give me a break. I am here for the old movies, and it kills me that I have to wait through the likes of Hook, Back to the Future, Karate Kid, etc etc.
-
How funny you should mention that. Last weekend when it was on we mentioned that Dr Zhivago should be watched in the middle of summer.

Yes, here's the rest of it... " In addition to wine, this spirit can also be made from grape pomace or fermented fruit juice. Unless specified otherwise, brandy is made from grape wine. It is normally consumed as an after-dinner drink."
-
I will have to disagree. Although I did enjoy The Aviator, Beyond the Sea, and De-Lovely, I still don't need to see those on TCM.
Did anyone else notice that Back To The Futurewas on TBS tonight at the same time TCM was airing it? And don't say you want to see it commercial free, because with all the Pepsi product placement it was just a 2 hour long Pepsi commercial.

I looked this up for you Fred,
Brandy (short for brandywine, from Dutch brandewijn?fire wine) is a general term for distilled wine, usually 40?60% ethyl alcohol by volume.

> Other than the few 'newer' films there are over
> 300 old films in February, too.
> How soon we forget.
I guess it seems like so many more newer films since those are the ones they save for prime time.... and since I work, is the only time I am able to watch TCM.
-
I don't think he expected this to turn into a political discussion, when the point was TCM is showing crap in February under the guise of 31 Days of Oscars. I for one can't wait for this month to be over so I can resume watching TCM on a regular basis again.
-
FredCDobbs, I agree with what you state. I was supposed to fly back home today but there is a snow storm here, so I have to stay in and watch movies. So far I was not at all impressed with the VIP's and Darling Lili. Tonight will suck as bad as last night did unfortunately. Luckily I have DVD's recorded from TCM's good times so I will be watching those.
-
Yes, I checked right away to see if it was nominated for anything and was disappointed it didn't get more.
-
Yes, you can very successfully record movies off TCM on a DVD recorder and they play on any DVD player. You may run into a bad disc now and again but that isn't related to TCM.
-
Saw Cinderella Man last night, what an excellent movie.
-
I'm not knocking ebay, I shop there all the time. It's just when you're buying a movie that's not available in the US you never know what you're getting.
-
Sorry allieharding, but you are quite wrong. I am a Gen-Xer and not only do I think the anime is crap, and more often than not the movies made after the 1960's were crap, but I had to look up Jon Stewart to see who that guy was, and he looks like an idiot.
-
Sounds funny coming from you, you're usually one of the first to jump down someone's throat when they voice an independent thought.
-
Melanie, if people like ourselves didn't come on here regularly and speak our minds, this message board would sound like one big commercial for TCM. "Oh, isn't The Birdcage wonderful? I just can't wait to see Sleepless in Seattle again....Oh and Beaches and Yentl..." Yuck!

I guess it seems like there are more modern movies on TCM now than before because they are always on at primetime or weekends, which is the times that I am able to tune in. I noticed someone a few days ago brought up a schedule from I believe 1999. It only had less than 5 movies from the 80's and one from the 90's. That is how I would prefer TCM, but you can't have it all. I also noticed the mission statement doesn't say anything about showing movies from the 90's and beyond. I guess this wouldn't bother me so much if they would distribute them throughout the day and in the middle of the night (where I am finding the best and the rarely shown movies lately). Thank goodness for DVD recorders.

I agree normandie7. It is sometimes painful to watch the remakes.
