Wolf?

Maybe he thinks Nicholson, like Brando (the Freshman), and DeNiro (Meet the Fokkers) hit his stride later in life.

Hey, when will they start showing a man get out of bed completely nude? They do it too don't they? I have to agree that the nudity in movies today is not done in the name of art, but to sell tickets, and there is entirely too much - unless it's male nudity of course!

My TCM was off all weekend, but I had no picture, just sound. I am in California and have satellite FYI.
-
This is why 99% of the movies being churned out today are crap. Once in a blue moon we get lucky (the Aviator, DeLovely...) and Cinderella Man sounds like it may be a good one. How sad that the good ones usually don't do well at the box office.

Speaking of "The Glass Key", I haven't been able to find this on DVD or VHS. Does anyone have info on this?
-
I remember that "Salute to Bollywood" and wasn't impressed. I just read last week on Yahoo news that Bollywood is not doing very well in its own native country.

You can find vintage table lighters on ebay, my fiance bought some beautiful silver ones and he uses them. I don't know about them being illegal though.
-
Are you referring to those decorative table top lighters?

The book sounds marvelous, I will have to get my hands on a copy. Thanks Laura!

Yes, beware the Ides of March.

What about the opening line in D.O.A. with Edmund O'Brien?
"I want to report a murder"
"Who's been killed?"
"I have"

I'm sure no fan of his, and it is an odd choice, but I won't be offended, as long as they keep the bimbos out of view.

Good for you shainabluegirl, I'm noticing his posts are leaning towards the negative lately.

I too would like to see more Precodes. They featured women of precode one month sometime last year which was great.

Wow, I guess you're out to get me today. TCM does not air Baby Doll frequently, I check for it monthly. And I could not record it because I did not have cable that week due to moving, or I would have. I just wish it would come out on DVD so I wouldn't have to wait for it.
-
Well it felt like an eternity, 1 year is way too long. You mark my words, those 2 modern movies I mentioned will find their way into the schedule just about monthly.
-
I too missed "Bed of Roses" last week, after waiting almost 2 years since the last time it was shown. I moved and my cable wasn't hooked up yet. I am so glad to see "Baby Doll" is on next week, that's another one that isn't aired often enough. I know it was on last month but it was during the wee morning hours.
-
I'm with you harlowkeatongirl. I accidentally missed seeing on of my favorite movies "Bed of Roses" with Pert Kelton (from the 30's) last week, and now I will have to wait another 2 years for TCM to show it again. Unfortunately one thing I can count on is TCM showing "Parenthood" and "Sleepless in Seattle" every month.
-
I can't wait to see both of these movies!
-
I am so happy to see that Baby Doll will be shown in February. This I would like to see come out on DVD.
-
Yes, you are correct it is "The World of Susie Wong", I just saw it a couple months ago.
-
Brighton Beach Memoirs is one of my favorites.
-
I can picture Jack Nicholson saying that...

Forget about the aspect ratio, Uncle Buck should never have been shown on TCM in the first place. I can think of many more deserving actors to showcase under the theme of actors that passed away unexpectedly.

I did not read anything in Xxmass's post saying he longs for EVERYTHING that happened in the past. I also think there were better actors and better movies back then. There are maybe a handful of current actors that have talent nowadays, but they are few and far between.
