  1. Ride the Pink Horse is not available, and I have been asking TCM to show this one again but I don't see it coming up. Most Veronica Lake movies are real hard to come by too.
  2. You keep asking for it. I don't insult people that don't do it first, and you insist on singling me out and being quite rude every time. I haven't insulted anyone else in this thread, just you. They said you weren't a troll but I beg to differ. From now on you are on my ignore poster list, so all your asinine remarks will be ignored by me.
  3. A precode festival would make me very happy.
  4. Well, while I still have a lot of breath in me, I will continue wasting it. otterhere I wish they would do that, but I won't hold my breath.
  5. So I guess everyone who has posted that they notice a lot more of the newer movies in the schedule are making this all up? I truly have noticed more of the newer movies in the last year, and because of this I rarely watch TCM anymore. Granted this month happens to be a little better but look ahead to the next 3 months.
  6. Sorry brad, didn't realize you were blind. Just read any of mongo's, path40's, lzcutter's, tcmprogrammers, sam therapy's, jonparker's, etc. posts and you will see the proclamations that TCM has not changed since its inception. Oh yes, brad your village is still calling.
  7. "To get around the problem of not having enough studio era films on a digital format that they can broadcast, they realize that they do have post-1960 films that they can run. They also start reaching out to other studios to rent/lease films that they can add to their programming. They discover that when they take a big tent approach to the films they show -Films from the 1920s to the 1990s - their viewership increases." At least you admitted it, now I know I'm not going crazy. Others have been insisting that TCM hasn't changed one bit since the beginning - thank you.
  8. Only those that are more of an R rating are on late (which is not often) but all the others are on at primetime.
  9. Wow, that must have been quite an experience!
  10. I do admit that November had more of the older movies at prime time but that is not usually the case. And I don't know how you can say that they don't always show the newer movies at primetime, I don't remember seeing any listed during the day or the middle of the night. My primetime is pacific time, and I just know from experience that the newer movies are shown at primetime and the weekends.
  11. I am wondering why you didn't ask the others on this thread this question, as they have the same gripe that I do. I guess you just won't leave me alone no matter what. There are a few old movies here and there at primetime, but ALL of the new movies are on at primetime.
  12. Larry, how did you get to be on the set of Showboat? and why didn't you like Frank? Message was edited by: sweetbabykmd
  13. > > I said "dishonor a true classic movie", which > is the original Spencer Tracey version. I don't care > if they show Spaceballs, or Honey, I Shrunk the > Kids, it is evident they are showing 'classics' > for the 30-40-50 year olds. I understand they have > to move along as we all do. These are the classics > of tomorrow, and as the viewership changes, so must > the movies. Actually, after all my complaints, TCM > has treated us quite fairly, we retirees still get > our Golden Age movies most days, and primetime is > left to the working stiffs of the age groups I > mentioned. They are at work while we enjoy our > oldies, and when they are home at night, the can > enjoy their oldies. > > Anne I have to disagree with you there mrsl. I am in that age group, a working stiff that would love to come home and watch movies from the golden age, not movies from the 80's and 90's. I also have to say that just because something is a certain age (25 years?) does NOT make it a classic. It's not true for cars and it's not true for movies. How many classic cars can you name from the 80's?? None. Style is what makes it classic not the age. Since those cars were mostly garbage there are no classics, just like the movies from the last 40 years - not many classics due to the high amount of garbage being churned out.
  14. This is a great movie. I recently read the book (written by the son of the reporter who wrote the newspaper articles) about the injustices suffered by the dock workers under the hands of the mob - which this movie is based on.
  15. > Well, we managed to go almost a week without > rehashing this subject. > > I'm starting to think this subject needs its own > forum since we have been debating this topic every > week for almost a year now. That would be called a clue. Many of us think of TCM as a classic movie station, but when these movies are part of the regular repertoire it is frustrating. I know, TCM is not just the classic movie channel anymore it shows all movies now - but I don't have to be happy about that.
  16. I haven't had HBO since over a year ago, and refuse to pay for it now that there is nothing good on it. They come up with great shows (Rome, Deadwood, Carnivale) and only do one or two seasons, but the garbage stays on forever. I still have snow where TCM used to be. Our apartments switched from satellight to Comcast and I wasn't going to sign up but they have a good deal for 6 months so I will be getting it until then. Once it gets back to $50 a month I won't do it.
  17. > And mrsl, don't forget that Lucy couldn't even say > 'pregnant'. > > There was an episode recently of Two And A Half Men, > whose hilarity focused on one of the two male > characters rubbing oil on the > exposed...EXPOSED...huge fake pregnant belly of a > female character. > > Hysterically funny, no? > > When I commented on another site, I was told it WAS > funny and that the belly WAS fake, after all. > Ahhhhhhhhhh, so I am a dinosaur. Thank the stars I > am, then. > > pintorini, I would have to put the year at 1998. When > Seinfeld went off the air, in my opinion the sitcoms > did a nosedive into the porcelain receptacle. > > Some thought Arrested Development was funny. I did > not. Some think My Name Is Earl and The Office are > funny. I just can't see it. > > I still find reruns of Seinfeld (and I Love Lucy) > funny after ALL these years. To me, that says > something about the writing and acting in these > shows, and says nothing about the unfunny material in > the current sitcoms. > > But hey, my one voice counts for naught. > > dolores stoneyburke I totally agree with you. I have not watched network television since Seinfeld went off the air. Nothing being offered now looks even remotely good. The only tv I watch is TCM or the occasional Food channel show. When I had HBO I loved Rome, Deadwood, and Sex in the City, those were good shows.
  18. It would be great if they would put their money into that rather than all the 70's to newer movies they seem to be getting.
  19. stoneyburke would you be referring to mongo's little friend therealfuster?
  20. So far in the last 2 years I have not seen changes for the better, and yes, there have been many on these boards insisting that nothing has been changing. I guess those of you who get to stay home all day and watch the good movies don't really notice anything, but I work so what I see is what is on at primetime and what is on the weekends, and I am not impressed. This past weekend was a joke.
  21. Well stoneyburke, we have been proven right all along and those who were adamant that TCM was not changing don't want to hear it.
