The film is a story about Jack (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his daughter Rose (Camilla Belle) that is now residing on an island off the mainland of the United States. Jack then tries an experiment in his little utopian society that is living in a new form of society by inviting his girlfriend (Catherine Keener) and her two sons to be a part of this society. But while this newfound society starts off to a great start, but it also has drawbacks to the new residents of the utopian society, by testing sexuality into dangerous extremes. The dangerous outcome of the experiment may also test the relationship between Jack and his daughter Rose not just socially, but also in a tight bond. The film is so natural in dialogue and acting as well as direction. The minimal amount of special effects or computer graphics effects makes this film a breath of fresh air. The film was written and directed by Rebecca Miller. It is an unusual movie, but it is a good movie with a certain amount of character depth as well as social messages that speak to the hearts of teens and adults in a coming of age story that I believe Rebecca Miller has succeeded in achieving to the viewing public. For this film I would give it a 7 out of 10.

I wanted to acknowledge a film that I watched yesterday, "The Ballad of Jack and Rose" (2005) starring Daniel Day Lewis and Catherine Keener. It is a uniquely fascinating film that I watched unlike any independent film that I have ever viewed.

3. The Rescuers
4. Oliver and Company
5. The Three Caballeros
6. Fun and Fancy Free

I was watching the animated series "Rocko's Modern Life" from Shout Factory DVD. It's the complete series.
-
Are the films going to be repeats from last year or are they going to be brand new segment interviews with new guests on the program?
-
Do you have any idea of what films are going to be selected for this year's essentials with Alec Baldwin?
-
Out of all the guest programmers, which guest programmer would you say had the most interesting movies?

I was watching the complete series of Rocko's Modern Life from 1993 to 1996 on dvd from Shout Factory. Season 1 Disc 1. It is a nostalgic look at what the 1990s decade was like on the #1 network for kids. As the slogan stated Nickelodeon is just for kids.

The years for some of the recipients being awarded the Winsor McCay award is off, but that is because I was looking up the website and looking at the years in which they are awarded.

The recipients of the Winsor McCay Award are given to those individuals who have done tremendous service to the animation industry whether it's as a cartoonist, voice actor, composer, writer, producer, or pioneer in animation that helped changed the face of animation. This award was started in 1972 by voiceover legend, June Foray.

Guest Programmers and their Films
in Guest Programmer
Posted
If I have to choose a guest programmer that selected the most interesting films that have not had the chance to be shown on TCM, I think is Tom Kenny back in July 2005. His movie selections are unusual and a sort of rediscovery that are eye-opening and amusing.
