  1. dizzy good to hear from you again and I haven't seen "Gold Rush" yet either so don't worry. I may not get it exact but film noir is dark with lots of shadows and little light. A few I enjoy(anyone correct me if I go astray) are "The Big Sleep" my fav oh and you can't go wrong with Bogart, "The Third Man","Maltese Falcon", "Lady in the LAke","DOA", "Double Indemnity" and many others.

  2. As for women I think I would like to sit down to tea with Maureen O'hara, and not just because she was in several movies with Wayne but because she is just a beautiful women who I would love to talk with and she seems like she would be so full of life and such an energetic person, and how can you go wrong with that gorgous red hair?

  3. Sorry but this doesn't have much to do with what you guys are discussing but this past wednesday I saw my first Chaplin movie. I don't know why it took me so long to see one because I've seen other silents but it did. Any ways the first on I saw was "Modern Times" and it was Fantastic! I laughed so hard throughout the entire movie it was great. And as others have mentioned its amazing at how many other things he contibuted than just his acting. I also loved the way Paulette Goddard looked, she's just beautiful. After that I watched several of his shorts that TCM showed and I still thought they were good. So I'll be trying to catch the rest of the CHaplin movies TCM is showing this month and enjoy them with great pleasure. Just thought I would share, THanks

  4. Yeah I think they should at least start Silent Sundays a little earlier, if not at 7 pm then maybe at 9? Have they always started later at eleven?I really don't think they would lose too many viewers by showing more silents on sundays or just showing them earlier.

  5. Welcome dizzy! :) Movies that you want to start with are the genres you already enjoy, but comedies are always an easier transition. Everybody here has different tastes so theres no few movies that you have to like to be considered a true fan, just keep watchin and check as many out as you can. And remember to give all sorts a try don't limit yourself to one genre or one or two actors.
