john32404, I like your musical notations. I laughed. One question. Quote: "Rocky Horror Picture Show" - hate hate hate this film..." Why? why? why? I am not much of a fan (strike that...not a fan) of "Rocky Horror Picture Show". I was interested if there was one thing you hated, or just the "Rocky Horror" cult thing? BTW: My single viewing of "Rocky Horror Picture Show" was one of those midnight shows, theater in Boulder, Colorado, the coldest night since time began. Well, after the show, I could say I had the "Rocky Horror" experience...I guess. Rusty

"Alice In Wonderland" BTW: R.I.P Jack Wild...depressing news.

FredCDobbs, I watched "Drums Along The Mohawk" last night. Recorded it off, well...I won't say where. Okay, I will...AMC (that HDD 'skip-thru' commercials thing is great). "Drums Along The Mohawk" co-starred Edna May Oliver. While watching "Drums Along The Mohawk", I thought of the couple of mystery movies Oliver starred. I think her character was named Hildegarde. I would watch those Hildegarde mysteries tonight--if I had them in my home video library. I hope TCM broadcasts the "Oliver as Hildegarde" movies in the near future. Rusty

MattHelm, "Which Hand?" The least, uhm...soiled hand. Rusty

Hello, I like Jeanette McDonald and Nelson Eddy, but I had no idea the intensity of feelings towards McDonald-Eddy-Raymond by their fans...wow! I have read almost all messages in this topic and, I think, it is one of the more interesting threads I've read (TCM forum-wise). Oh, a bit of going around in circles, but that is okay...that sort of thing happens when people feel strongly about something. While I am here, I will take the opportunity to mention my favorite Jeanette McDonald and Nelson Eddy and a couple of other performers...stuff. Jeanette McDonald's and Nelson Eddy's duets of "Indian Love Call" from "Rose Marie". Jeanette McDonald and Nelson Eddy in "Maytime"--the movie from start to finish. Jeanette McDonald's and Jane Powell's duet "Springtide" from "Three Daring Daughters" Allan Jones' "Donkey Serenade" from "The Firefly" (well, Jeanette was listening...I still really like the song). pktrekgirl, Quote: "My FAVORITE autobiography written by any classic film star, is a no-contest question: "My Wicked, Wicked Ways - the Autobiography of Errol Flynn". Most. Hilarious. Book. Ever." Thanks for the recommendation (and the reminder). For a long time, I have been wanting to find and read Errol Flynn's autobiography. Errol Flynn--the more I watch his movies the more I like him. The rapscallion. Rusty

sandykaypax, Quote: "One of my favorite moments in THE BIG LEBOWSKI is when Jeff Bridges makes his favorite drink--a white Russian--in the limo and he puts powdered non-dairy coffee creamer in the drink instead of real cream, because that's all there is available. Doesn't sound funny, but I chuckle every time I see it. That movie is not for everyone, but if you are someone that gets it, it's hysterical" One scene in "The Big Lebowski" is a personal 'top ten' funny movie moment. Exactly as you describe in the above paragraph, my referenced scene requires a viewing of "The Big Lebowski" to 'get it'. I will briefly describe the scene: Jeff Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) is meeting with Jackie Treehorn (Ben Gazzara). Treehorn gets a phone call and (while talking on the phone) writes something on a nearby memo pad. Treehorn finishes the phone call, tears the page off the pad and exits the room. Lebowski realizes Treehorn's note might be important to 'the case'! While Treehorn is out of the room, Lebowski attempts the 'rub the pencil lead' technique on the memo pad (highlight Treehorn's 'clue'). Considering Treehorn is a shady character, what Lebowski (and the audience) sees on the 'lead rubbed' paper is exactly 'right'...but totally unexpected! That is laugh number one. The capper--Jeff Bridges goes out of character, turns to the camera (audience) and connects to the audience with an absolutely priceless 'quizzical-knowing' look. The moment is funny and wise and (for me) 'made the movie'. Rusty

CharlieT, Quote: "I've heard that they've got a book..." Hmm...you have pretty specific 'second hand' information. Maybe, you just borrowed the book? You know, for a quick look-see. Rusty

MattHelm, Go ahead...point the finger at me. I won't back down from any of my "naked nancy" positions. Rusty

CharlieT, "Spencer's Mountain"

MattHelm, I bet some person takes a brief glance at your post and my preceding message. Not really reading either of the items--the person will start the rumor, "Jimmy Stewart was probably gay". Oh no! This post may be a confirmation of the Stewart-gay rumor. Thus 'elevating' rumor status into 'common knowledge'. "So it goes." ~Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Rusty

sandykaypax, Oh yeah...wasn't another of the 'old' gang...Professor....something, or another...Irwin Corey?! And I didn't even have to look the Prof up! My "daytime game show" memory circuits are re-energized. Rusty
-
sandykaypax, Wasn't Marlon Brando's best buddy, "Wally Cox", one of the 'old' "Hollywood Squares" gang? BTW: The "Marlon Brando/Wally Cox's ashes" (if true) is one strange Hollywood story. Rusty

Hello, Jimmy Stewart is 'ruggedly handsome' in movies he starred in after WWII. For example, "The Naked Spur". Before WWII? Jimmy looked a bit wimpy. Rusty

MrWriteLA, "Alive"?
-
MrWriteLA, Yes! Very good. Back to you...

markus21, Great post. Thanks for mentioning Rex Reed. That guy (Rex Reed) could be very, very funny! Do you remember those Elizabeth Taylor perfume ads? The 'soft-focus' was so obvious, the folks at "Saturday Night Live" were compelled to lampoon the commercials. Rusty

if you could get TCM to show 1 Movie, What would it be??

stryder989, I won't argue that "Plan 9 From Outer Space" deserves one viewing. I watched it on TV several years ago. My opinion? After the movie ended, I wanted the 80 minutes back. "Plan 9 From Outer Space"--not enough 'kitsch' for 'cult' status. Note: I am (usually) a fan of 'cult movies'. Rusty -
filmlover, Quote: "It takes a lot of courage to schedule "Birth of a Nation." I think it was less than a year ago that The Silent Movie Theater here in Hollywood on Fairfax scheduled it but there were many protestors about racism and I think it got pulled before it opened..." I saw something about that protest on, I think, yuck...AMC. Honestly, don't the protestors have better things to do with their time? Charity work? I apologize for the last couple of sentences--posting something that is soo, "we have not heard that before?". My fingers had a 'mind of their own'. Rusty

No. Clue #3: Hick hardware (store) hold up.
-
No. Clue #2: 'Take charge' dad.
-
MrWriteLA--thanks. Clue #1: Family vacation 'cut short'. I told my wife I was not ready to 'put up' another movie (if we were correct). She insisted I post "Homicidal". Ahh...some times finger pointing is so satisfying.
-
"Homicidal"?
-
Yes. I am making confetti out of the rest of my clues and turning it over to MrWriteLA. BTW: Watching "Kwaidan" is quite an experience.
-
No. I get the chance to write my favorite clue. Clue #6: Epidermal incantation. Hint: Think 'writing'.
