  1. That was a really good acceptance speech that Diane Keaton gave that year at the Oscars.   It confirms something that I have picked up on her over the years.  She is someone that I have found to be - outside of her acting roles - truly a much more humble, down-to-earth, and grounded actor - more so than many others, who are full of themselves.

Regarding "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" (which contains great performances from everyone, including Keaton of course, and which is such a tragic, grim work that I rarely watch), I have one question.  It contains a spoiler.

    Spoiler space below:

The end of this movie has Gary attacking Theresa, then forcing himself upon her and then stabbing her, and finally killing her.

However, I remember when the USA Network channel used to air "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" in the late nights or very early mornings every three or four months during the mid-1990s.    I could have sworn that the ending of this film during these USA Network TV showings was different - a tragic ending still, but different from the theatrically released version's ending which TCM aired last week.   In this USA Network showing, the end of this movie has Gary attacking Theresa, but not forcing himself upon her and not stabbing her, but instead choking her to death.   Does anyone else remember this other ending?

  2. In recent years, I've thought that Yvette Mimieux and a young Linda Evans looked somewhat similar, like they could be sisters or at least cousins.

Here is Yvette Mimieux.  Underneath this photo is a photo of Linda Evans.

He is one of director David Mamet's favorite colleagues, and possibly his absolute favorite colleague:

    Joe Mantegna.
