If you want to know about the Dark Side of Hollywood, I suggest reading the book Coreyography, written by Corey Feldman, detailing his struggle with drug addiction and sexual abuse during his career as a child actor in 80s Hollywood. Unless you were more interested in golden era of Hollywood stories.

My older brother who is 24 refuses to watch black and white films unless it's 12 Angry Men or To Kill a Mockingbird. Most likely he was forced to watch them for school and ended up liking them. But I'm thinking, "Why stop there?". If he liked those two films, then surely there must be other B&Ws he'd like. But no. He won't consider it. I just don't get it! Why should the age of something immediately turn people off? They just have a slower pace, that's all! My brother likes movies that teach important messages about life. This thread reminds that I should teach my 9 year old cousin to appreciate classic cinema before it's too late. I have the Shirley Temple movie The Little Princess so I might show her that. What I Would Recommend: For teenagers: Some Like it Hot, Roman Holiday, Breakfast at Tiffany's, How to Marry a Millionaire Anything that stars Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn b/c of how popluar they are. For adults: Films that discuss topics that are in the news today like racial prejudice, immigration, or religion. Inherit the Wind, To Kill a Mockingbird, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, 12 Angry Men

Clara Bow and Lillian Gish are my favorites. I watched "It" on Youtube and I've loved her ever since. She was a natural. My favorite Gish films so far are Broken Blossoms, Orphans of the Storm, and The Night of the Hunter. I really want to see the movie she did with Bette Davis during her later years. I also like Lupe Velez, Alla Nazimova, and Leatrice Joy.

The purpose of this thread is not to criticize others but to start interesting discussions about cinema. My unpopular opinion is that Elizabeth Taylor is a very overrated actress. It's not that I don't like her as a person but as an actress I think she is very wooden. I haven't seen Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? or Butterfield 8 but I did see her in Reflections of a Golden Eye and bits and pieces of her in other films. Her Southern accent was TERRIBLE in RGE. It sounded like something out of a Saturday Night Live sketch. As if her voice wasn't annoying already! However, I did like enjoy her early performance as Helen in Jane Eyre (1943), which I now consider to be one of my favorite films. In conclusion, I think Elizabeth Taylor was a wonderful person but as an actress she was not good at all.

It's raining cats and dogs outside. You're at home alone. What do you do? Watch movies, of course! Key Largo (1948) and 12 Angry Men (1957) are probably among the best to watch on this occasion because they both give you that sense of isolation and the rain would make great background noise. Other movies I think would be good are Citizen Kane (1941), Psycho (1960), The Letter (1940), and Waterloo Bridge (1940).

Well I can't tell the full details without giving something away but I suppose you could stop after Ellen (Gene Tierney) does great harm to a person . That's the last good scene in my opinion.

I thought the ending of Leave Her to Heaven was pretty underwhelming. They had a dark and suspenseful film in thier hands but almost ruined it with a lame, uninteresting courtroom scene, bland romance between the male lead and Jeanne Crain, and the unsatisfying demise of the most interesting character in the whole film at the end. I still think it's a great movie but that ending was awful.

I adore this woman!!!!! Seriously, Vivien is my all-time favorite actress. I find her amazing for being able to put so much hard work and dedication in her performances even though her personal life was filled with so much turmoil and heartbreak. Especially in such a gruelling role that Scarlett O' Hara must have been. She never, ever dissapointed.
