People climb into the passenger seat of an automobile by opening the driver's side door and scooting across the front seat--followed by the driver of the car.
When a cup of coffee or a drink is ordered no one ever finishes their drink. At times, a person may finger a glass or stir their coffee wistfully or thoughtfully, but nary a drop passes their lips.

Mrs. Robinson would be intriguing, classicfan. I'd like to have drinks and dinner, at the club, of course, with Addie Ross. The orchestra would be playing "In the Blue of Evening" and the drinks would be champagne. It would be fine just to see what the fuss was all about with this beguiling unseen character.

What character,(not actor or actress), from a movie would you most like to sit down with for a shared meal?

Have you ever found yourself liking an actor despite the fact that you know he or she is not especially adept at his chosen profession?
I found myself in this slightly comical position the other night when my PBS station ran "Cimmaron"(1931). The story was engaging and certainly Irene Dunne gave a most subtle characterization of Sabra Cravat-but, darned if I wasn't rooting for Richard Dix all the way as Yancey Cravat. His character was wonderfully flawed and goodhearted--and his outrageous scene chewing in the courtroom scene where he's trying to defend the town's notorious madam is, well, I've got to admit, stirring. Dix's old fashioned acting style is clearly rooted in 19th century theatrical and silent movie conventions, but darned if it isn't winning. I hope that you'll share your comments or experiences with this amusing phenomenon--do you have any guily pleasures when it comes to certain actors?

I just caught a few minutes of the tribute to actors who've passed on during the SAG awards this evening...it was nicely done and Penny Singleton was included, along with many others. It's not the Oscars, but it is something.

Wild Irish Rose is very offensive!!!!!!

The politically sensitive may want to avoid "Swing Time"(1936) on Fri., Mar. 26th at 6PM. It includes an extended blackface dance number.
