I'm certain, that somewhere on some HTML color chart, there's a "ruby red"-I just haven't looked enough yet. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!
-
I agree-Shirley would've been cute in the role, but that would've been the problem-it would've been Shirley being cute as Dorothy. Judy Garland was Dorothy.
-
It was emerald green, for the Emerald City I'm using regular red because I can't find "ruby red" this quickly
-
It's on again, that's great! The more I see TWoO,the more I realsie just how wonderful Judy Garland is in the role of "Dorothy"-this is what is meant by someone being the role rather than merely acting it. She really is the perfect Dorothy. No one else could've acted-or rather inhabited- this role so perfectly.

Thanks I have tons uploaded to my web space that I use at another site (The last one's not directed at you,I just felt like using it)
-
And, personally, I am going to need some of these cause people don't know when I am kidding. Same here! Really, some people have no sense of humor
-
I also thought that Glinda was beautiful, and I've actually always thought that Billie Burke was quite an attractive woman-voice and all. She's just so small and sweet and feminine. I thought that she was attractive in "Dinner At Eight",and she wore some lovely clothes. She's just so cute.

Nope, Miss Gulch doesn't get Toto-I refuse to believe it! I think that Auntie Em and the rest are so relieved and glad that Dorothy's OK that they let her keep Toto and tell Miss Gulch to go fly off on her broom. There's no way that she gets Toto!!

Thanks David, I'll make a copy of those for future use B-)
-
Thanks for the list,I'll copy it . I've seen a blue smiley used here-I looked up the source code to find out how it was done, but I've forgotten what it was. I wish that more of them were enabled here, like the little devil one,for one. Grace Kelly had a gorgeous wardrobe in "Rear Window",and the elegant figure and the chic to look at home in it
-
Usually, I don't have strong feeling about Grace Kelly one way or another-my eyes see that she is beautiful, but she doesn't really affect me. The great exception is in "Rear Window"-I don't know if it was the pairing with Jimmy Stewart or what, but she was not only her usual glamorous, beautiful, and chic self in that movie, her personality really came through. I love that movie, and I love her in it. And I've been trying to find one of those vintage Mark Cross overnight bags ever since I first saw that movie

Well thank God that WC Fields was the worst threat most child actors back then had to have any fear of,LOL! -

What I'd like to know is,does anyone here have a chart or list of which emoticons show up as smileys here on the TCM forums? I've found lists of emoticon text symbols, but they most of them show up here as the symbols, not as smileys. -

Something tells that I'm going to like the earliest silent version best ,other than the 1939 version. -

Here ya go,GM-- (font color="red")text(/font). Replace the parentheses with the greater than/less than symbols. If you want to get really fancy with the colors, find a hex chart on the internet(it will have the numeric names for secondary and tertiary colors-those colors are fun ) I'm trying to figure out how to make a particular font also show up when I use the code for a font color-I can't get them to both work at the same time here. -

They were probably hoping that if they saved the best for last, the paying audiences would remember her and hopefully they wouldn't stampede the ticket office demanding their money back on pain of death! ...being snarky so you don't have to... -

WHAT is the beauteous and gifted Lena Horne doing in this stinker, speaking that sappy dialogue? I hope that she got a big fat check for appearing in this mess! -

And when someone starts singing an "inspirational" song with the tinkly synthesiser-sounding instrumentation-you know it's all over with-especially when the lyrics include something along the lines "you must believe in yourself,I believe in you"-paging Barry Manilow! -

Sincerity just didn't work in the Seventies-it comes across as sappiness instead. It makes me think of those album covers with some Breck Girl in a misty field of wildflowers,or a Marlo Thomas TV special-gag! It still worked in the Thirties and Forties. That scene they just showed where all the sweatshop workers take off their ugly costumes and miraculously appear in yellow bikinis/speedos,looking buff and fit-ROFLMAO! -

And Diana Ross is a gorgeous woman(she was unbelievably beautiful in that video she did with Julio Iglesias,"All Of Me"),but that haircut is NOT flattering on her.
