I have seen 25 of them. The highest ranking one I saw was The Master at #2. 6/10 I grudgingly gave it a thumbs up for the acting. I was glad my favorite of the decade was included, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. It came in at #39 I am going to wait until 2019 is over before I make a list of my favorites.

Pollard was reunited with Warren Beatty in Dick Tracy (1990). Beatty of course played the title role and Pollard was Bug Bailey, a police wiretap expert. Estelle Parsons also has a cameo as Tess Truehart's mother.

The Irishman 8/10 Current release I finally got to see this, I don't have Netflix and luckily got to see it in a NYC theater. It's based on the true story of the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa and the mob hitman Frank Sheeran who was a close friend. Martin Scorsese directed and has the dream cast of Robert DeNiro as Sheeran, Al Pacino as Hoffa with Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel in smaller roles. It is a excellent film due mostly to the acting. DeNiro and Pacino have not been this good in decades. Just seeing them on screen talking to each other is worth the price of admission. It probably could have been trimmed a bit from it's 3 1/2 hour running time but it's never boring. It seemed to me like a much more low key version of the Scorsese mob classics Goodfellas and Casino, this one does not have the shocking brutality and raucous black humor of those. Any fan of the two stars can just sit back and let the magic happen.

I just saw this for the first time. 8/10 I liked that Muller compares it to two of my 1970s faves-Deliverance and Straw Dogs. The Hitch Hiker was a short, lean, mean exercise in suspense about two average non violent guys confronted with unimaginable evil. William Talman is one of most creepy, hateful villains I have ever seen in a film. His character not only wants to control and frighten his hostages, he seems to take a sadistic glee in humiliating and belittling them. Edmond O'Brien once again proves he is one of the more reliable character actors of his time, he is the more emotional of the two hostages. Frank Lovejoy was known mostly for playing tough, commanding lawmen in films like House Of Wax and I Was A Communist For The FBI. Here he is a victim, and is calm and thoughtful.

Doctor Sleep (2019) 6/10 current theatrical release. A sequel to The Shining (1980) with grown up Danny Torrance (Ewan Macgregor) meeting a young girl with similar powers, they team up to battle some demons. This is a good film, not overly gory and very low key. It is overlong (152 minutes) and the lead villain is a bland looking actress (Rebecca Ferguson) with an equally bland performance, she is not very frightening. The film is a treat for fans of the original, it copies several shots from that one.

Well, I guess this could be an early example of "woke culture" then!

Yes, that's a great one. I love the color photography. Henry Fonda and Claudette Colbert are a great couple though Edna May Oliver steals the show. It's interesting that they are showing Dog Day Afternoon in prime time, usually the R-rated films are the ones that are broadcast after midnight.

The actor who plays the young James Cagney character does slap the actress who plays the young Ann Sheridan character, which sets up the scene you mention.

A good year, From Here To Eternity is one of my top ten favorite films. I think Montgomery Clift gave the best performance of the year and one of the greatest of all time. House Of Wax is another favorite of mine from that year.

Dark Victory (1939) TCM and a first time viewing for me. 8/10 Bette Davis is a dying socialite who falls in love with her doctor (George Brent). This is considered one of Davis' most iconic performances and I am sorry I waiting so long to see it, because I loved it. Davis just goes all out in a spellbinding performance. The film is a manipulative soap opera but is so highly entertaining that it just draws you in. I enjoyed the supporting cast which included Humphrey Bogart as a lovesick horse trainer (though he struggles with an Irish brogue) and Ronald Reagan as a tipsy rich chum. I also noticed that some clips turned up in one of my favorite films Midnight Cowboy. They are seen on a TV during the Jon Voight/Sylvia Miles sex scene.

Yes, I mentioned that in my original post. It's my favorite of her performances, and the least twitchy.

One of my favorite Vincent Price films is Confessions Of An Opium Eater. An exploitation film filmed in Omaha and released in 1991 is about a depressed loser who has no luck with women, it's called Even Hitler Had A Girlfriend.

I remember him in the Abbott and Costello film Hit The Ice. Knowles plays a guy who grew up on the same street as Bud and Lou (both from New Jersey) even though he somehow acquired a British accent.
