I saw pieces of their films, some of it was amusing, but not a big fan. I always thought if Edna May Oliver and George Burns ever had a child, it would look like Robert Woolsey.

I love GBU too. The final shootout with the three leads was a great scene. As Tarantino says, the music is great, though my favorite part was the close up of the eyes, Eastwood's squinty ones, Lee Van Cleef's reptilian ones and Wallach's wild ones.
I am a Tarantino fan as well, my favorite maybe "Kill Bill Vol 1" a great homage to martial arts and 1970s exploitation, complete with a fantastic soundtrack.
Funniest line was Wallach saying to one gunman "If you're gonna shoot, shoot! Don't talk!"

I just saw this for the very first time. I rate it 7/10, mostly for Robert Preston, I can't think of anyone else being able to pull this one off.
In the fan dedication Ben Mank makes a reference to Cary Grant being offered the movie role of Harold Hill but turning it down, saying that he would not even see the film if Robert Preston does not play the part. I had always heard that story about Grant turning down the Henry Higgins part and Rex Harrison in "My Fair Lady", which one is true, can it be both?

I have seen this film, but never picked up on this, it would make it more intriguing. I always liked it, saw the Widmark character as a macho tough as nails D.I. And the Karl Malden character, another sergeant has the first name of "Laverne"!

Did anyone see this last night? I love the film and the dedication is one of my favorites of the ones I saw.
The young man dedicated it to his mother and says his whole family are classic movie fans. One of the more interesting comments was when he said it was almost a "noir", I am guessing he said that due to the dark shadows and rain drenched streets, also the scenes of Laura character as she narrates where the lighting goes dark around her. He also likes the fact that the stars Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard are not glamorous movie types. I also liked that the atmosphere is very ordinary and realistic, many of my favorite scenes are in the dour looking train station cafe. The comedy relief is handled by the Cockney conductor and the sharp tongued cafe owner.

"Terror Is A Man" (1959) a horror movie filmed in the Philippines inspired by "Island Of Dr Moreau" . There was a warning at the beginning of the film that there was a scene in it not for the squeamish. A warning bell would sound when it was coming up. I did not see it but read that is was a close up of a surgical incision.

The Devil Bat (1941) 5/10
Here is a film for really dedicated Lugosi fans. It cannot compare to his 1930s Universal classics but better than most of his Poverty Row films of the 1940s and 1950s. He plays a mad scientists who invents a shaving lotion that attracts his giant killer bat to attack his victims. Bela gets some good lines that only he can deliver. The only other interesting thing about this one is Dave O'Brien as the reporter hero of the film. Most TCM fans today will recognize him as the goofball character in the numerous Pete Smith Specialty short films shown frequently on the channel. Cult film fans will also remember him as one of the guffawing pot heads in "Reefer Madness". One thing that I find striking about him is the uncanny resemblance he has to the later 1960s and 1970s character actor James Olson.

Yes, I own "Bless The Beasts & Children" on VHS. It is a great 1970s film with comedy, drama, tragedy and some great music. The title song was sung by The Carpenters and was nominated for an Oscar.

I love this one too. It was the first time I noticed Ewan McGregor though Christopher Eccleston gives the standout performance. Great twist ending too.
