I thought she gave a great performance in this. I had read she hated playing the part and was resentful about being cast in a horror film.

txfilmfan & Dargo- you got it! I remember Cabot best as the proper Mr French on Family Affair. He also was in the Twilight Zone episode A Nice Place To Visit. He had his hair and beard dyed white because he was playing an angel, he was very angry when he was told it could not be dyed back, he had to wait for it to grow out.

I saw Black Spurs many years ago, but can't recall anything about it, even after reading your detailed post. I saw several of these AC Lyles westerns because I was a big fan of Lon Chaney Jr and wanted to see as many of his films that I could. I thought the best one (which is isn't saying much) was Johnny Reno, because it gave Chaney the biggest role he had in these films. Normally he had a very small part, sometimes just a glorified cameo. In Johnny Reno, he plays the ineffective sheriff of the town, he looks in terrible health, being overweight and having a ragged voice, but it fit with his over the hill character. He even is given a heroic scene near the end.

Blondie's Lucky Day (1946) Movies ! TV Network 7/10
Dagwood is left in charge of the office, he hires a former WAC as an architect, Dithers returns and fires him.
#17 in the series, but this is one of the best so far, many funny scenes and a fast moving story. The war is over and the mayor wants businessmen to hire returning veterans. Dagwood is asked to a meeting with executives. One of them is played by John Hamilton, who would have his greatest fame as blustering Perry White on TV series The Adventures Of Superman. Betty Jane the WAC is warmly welcomed by Blondie and family. After Dagwood is fired he tries to start his own construction company. He attempts to get a contract with a theater company owner. A plot twist has him being fleeced by the playboy son of the theater owner. Funniest scene is Dagwood posing as a masseur and he discovers a knockout nerve pinch later used by Spock on Star Trek.

Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me (1992) TCM On Demand 5/10
A prequel to the TV series showing the sordid life of murder victim Laura Palmer.
A first time viewing for me. I was a fan of the original TV show, but avoided this film because it flopped so badly and got some scathing reviews. It is not a horrible movie but not too good either. I admire director David Lynch, though some of his films I love (Blue Velvet) or hate (Wild At Heart). I liked Sheryl Lee's (Laura) performance and Ray Wise as her father Leland. My favorite character FBI Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) shows up but doesn't have much too do. I liked some of the dream sequences with dwarf actor Michael Anderson. It goes on a bit too long (135 min) and if you saw the TV show, you will know already who the killer is.

Waiting For The Sun by The Doors-July 1968
One of my favorite albums by one of my favorite groups. It begins with the catchy #1 hit "Hello I Love You". "Love Street" is an intriguing song about hippie times with lines like "there's the store where the creatures meet", beautifully sung by Jim Morrison. Morrison's wild poetic imagery is in the next track "Not To Touch The Earth", the music builds to a frenzy and ends with the iconic line "I am the Lizard King, I can do anything". The haunting wistful ballad "Summer's Almost Gone" is next, followed by another song about a season, the waltz "Wintertime Love" with harpsichord. Side 1 ends with the war song "The Unknown Soldier" with a chilling reenactment of a firing squad. Side 2 begins with great flamenco guitars with "Spanish Caravan". "My Wild Love" is a weird chanting song with spare instrumentation, only handclaps and some percussion. "We Could Be So Good Together" is a catchy pop song. "Yes The River Knows" is a gentle soothing track with nice piano by Ray Manzarek and guitar by Robby Krieger. The final song "Five To One" starts with military drumming by John Densmore and Morrison growls and screams the lyrics about the young getting stronger and taking over.

"Harry and Tonto" was a first-time watch for me. Art Carney and his cat embark on a cross-country trek after Carney (a widower) learns his apartment building is being demolished. With nowhere to go initially, one of his three kids takes him in with his family in New York City. After living there a few weeks, and feeling like a burden to his son's family while craving his own privacy, Harry and Tonto strike out to Chicago where his daughter lives. He has a ticket to fly, but he causes a ruckus at airport security and decides to take a bus. However, after the bus stops to allow Tonto to take a potty break, the cat runs away through a roadside cemetery. Carney won't leave without him, so the bus takes off, forcing the old man and his now relocated cat to hitchhike. He buys a cheapo used car from a dealership he comes upon, and drives toward Chicago. He stays there with his daughter for a few days before moving on to Los Angeles where his other son lives. It is here that Tonto dies, and while Harry mourns the loss of his beloved cat, he is able to make new friends and fit into the southern California lifestyle. Art Carney won an Academy Award for his performance in this film as Best Actor (and it was deserved, as far as I could tell), which I'd give an 8 out of 10.
I liked this one too. I saw it when first released and thought it was great, even though I was only 13 at the time. I was touched by the serious moments and thought the comedic scenes were hilarious. Carney as excellent, he won despite stiff competition that year: Albert Finney (Murder On The Orient Express), Dustin Hoffman (Lenny), Jack Nicholson (Chinatown) and Al Pacino (The Godfather Part II)

Life With Blondie (1946) Movies! TV Network 5/10
A woman from the neighborhood sends a photo of Daisy to her son serving in the Navy, Daisy soon becomes a Pin Up Pooch to war time sailors.
An OK Blondie entry,#16 the series. An ad exec also wants to use Daisy in soap ads. He is played by Ernest Truex, who many years later played the lead in the classic Twilight Zone episode "Kick The Can". A funny scene has Dagwood filling in for a male model in a swimsuit ad. Daisy is also wanted by the girlfriend of a gangster. Character actor Marc Lawrence appears as a menacing henchman. When Daisy becomes too famous, Alexander and Cookie tell Dagwood they wish Daisy would go away, Daisy overhears and takes off.

I am hetero and I always found her sexy, she had some nice curves and a fun, energetic personality. One of my favorite films she did was the wacky farce Big Business (1988), she and Lily Tomlin play two sets of twins switched at birth who meet up by chance years later.
