  1. Easy Andy, the guns salesman in the film said he "only sells quality merchandise to the right people".
  2. Scared Stiff (1953) Next- Houdini (1953) 2 more directed by George Marshall
  3. 3) He was part of the Mission Impossible TV cast from 1966 to 1969
  4. How about A Matter Of Life And Death (1945) the Powell/Pressburger film re-titled Stairway To Heaven for the US? And the first time I saw The Deer Hunter on TV, and this was before cable, they surprisingly showed it uncut.
  5. I don't think this "cut" version even exists anymore. I saw one on the Movies! Network but they just bleep the curse words and blur the violence and nudity. And still don't include those deleted moments.
  6. Blondie's Blessed Event (1942) Movies! Network 7/10 Blondie has a baby girl and Dagwood makes friends with a free loading playwright. A very funny entry #11 in the series, one of the best. The new baby girl is named Cookie and Baby Dumpling demands to be called by his real name Alexander. This one is also helped by the appearance of two scene stealing character players. Hans Conried is the playwright and he shows his use of voices and disguises. Mary Wickes plays a tough talking maid who is a aspiring actress. There is also a quick reference to the need for victory in the new war effort. And Daisy has a litter of puppies.
  7. Taxi Driver is one of the my top ten favorite films, I own the DVD and have seen it a few times in revival theaters. However my first contact with it was on TV when WNEW Channel 5 in New York showed it in a version with the profanity removed and cuts in the more violent scenes. But there was a scene added to this version which does not appear in the theatrical cut. It occurs when Travis (Robert DeNiro) first takes Iris (Jodie Foster) to her room. Travis is stopped by the old guy standing on the staircase and says the room will cost him 10 bucks. The old guy then notices Travis is carrying a gun, it was the nickel plated .38 revolver that he purchased in a prior scene. The old man takes the gun from him and says he will give it back to him when he's finished upstairs. If you watch the film you can see him holding the gun when he says "I'm timing you". Then when Travis is coming back down, you will see a quick shot of the old man holding the gun again, in the TV version he hands the gun back to Travis and says "I think this is yours" and Travis hands him a crumpled $20 bill and and says "This is yours", and you can see him putting something back in his shirt which was when he replaced the gun in his shoulder holster. I had this version on a VHS tape that I taped off the TV, but don't have it anymore. The strange thing is that this deleted scene is not mentioned in the IMDB trivia section and not included or mentioned in the Special Features on the DVD. Does anyone else remember this cut TV version? Because I know for sure that this is what I saw.
  8. Best-Lover Come Back (1961) Worst-A Fine Pair (1968) Next- Liza Minnelli
  9. I saw this when first released, I was seeing nearly every Walter Matthau movie coming out in the 1970s. I remember liking this one, the foul mouthed misfit kids were funny. I was surprised at the time to see Brandon Cruz from The Courtship Of Eddie's Father (one of my favorite TV shows) as Vic Morrow's son. I haven't seen it all the way through in years but have caught bits and pieces when it was recently shown on one of my premium cable channels.
  10. I Was A Teenage Werewolf (1957) Next-The Legend Of Tom Dooley (1959) 2 with Michael Landon
  11. Best- What About Bob (1991) Worst-Charlie's Angels (2000) Next- Dan Dailey
  12. Lizzie (1957) Next- I Bury The Living (1958) 2 more with Richard Boone
  13. Do you know how to spell this actor's last name?
  14. 4) Vladimir Nabokov received full credit for writing the screenplay, even though Stanley Kubrick rewrote it.
  15. Murder On The Orient Express (1974) Cinemax On Demand 8/10 Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot investigates a brutal murder on a train. First time viewing for me, I enjoyed it very much. There is a great cast of suspects including Lauren Bacall, Martin Balsam, Sean Connery, Ingrid Bergman (won her third Oscar for this), John Gielgud,Wendy Hiller, Anthony Perkins, Rachel Roberts, Vanessa Redgrave and Richard Widmark as the victim. This started a trend of star studded Agatha Christie films. I thought Albert Finney was entertaining as Poirot. I have seen some criticism of his portrayal but I am not a Poirot aficionado, this is the first film I have seen featuring this character. The film got me hooked right away with the back story of the kidnapping and murder of little rich girl. Every member of the cast gets at least one scene to strut their stuff. I found some enjoyment seeing Perkins and Balsam reunited (as in Psycho and Catch 22). Also Humphrey Bogart's widow Bacall sharing a scene with his Casablanca co star Bergman.
  16. 5) Peppard's working relationship with A Team co star Mr T soured after one season. In a TV interview Peppard said "The man is an embarrassment, I have nothing more to say to him or about him"
  17. Charlie Chaplin in City Lights, he hangs from the seat of his pants but removes his hat for the National Anthem
  18. Yes, I loved that place. I first saw The Old Dark House (1932) after it was feared lost for many years. I also saw Freaks (1932) for the first time there. Now I own both on DVD, The place is still there though it is a live theater now, no longer a movie revival house. The pavement in front of it has some big stars leaving their hand or foot prints in cement. Some are Joan Crawford, Myrna Loy, Joan Blondell, Gloria Swanson.
  19. 7) He guest starred on I Love Lucy, plugging his movie The Big Combo (1955)
  20. 3. He was Oscar nominated for A Song To Remember (1945)
  21. Thanks for that. And the reason Robert Duvall was laughing is because his Godfather co star James Caan was making faces at him from the audience.
  22. Butterflies Are Free (1972) TCM 10/10 A young blind man seeks independence from his over protective mother, he falls in love with a free spirited actress. I love this film, it is set in the long gone hippie era of the late 1960s and early 1970s. It is a comedy/drama with great performances. Edward Albert is touching as the blind man, you really feel his pain in some of the more dramatic moments. Goldie Hawn, as usual is cute and funny in her role but she also can be selfish and callous at times, making for a more interesting character. Eileen Heckart deserved her Oscar as the mother, the role is not a stereotypical over bearing mother, she is also very wise and loving. Plus she has some of the funniest lines. There is a scene where Goldie is walking around just in her bra and panties and tells Heckart that she is an actress. Heckart's reply "Might I have seen you in anything...besides your underwear?" And I love the folky music in it too, Albert sings the title song and a bit of John Denver's "Country Roads".
  23. Damn Yankees (1958) Bells Are Ringing (1960) Something Wild (1961) Up The Down Staircase (1967) Cold Turkey (1971)
