I love this one as well, I believe this is the last photo of all the Marx Brothers together, shortly before Chico's death in 1961.

No, I didn't know about that. I don't think any more padding would be needed. It's good that it won't be a theatrical Hollywood version, just on HBO. However, i think I will just avoid seeing it.

I saw it a few months ago, before all the nominations and wins. I also give 9/10. It starts off a sort of a Korean Frank Capra movie with working class vs rich. I thought it was funny and quite clever at first, though not great. Then the unexpected twist in the middle, I was taken off guard and started thinking "Where is this going now?" Then yet another twist and change in tone at the climax which totally shocked me. And then came the strange, haunting ending. It gave me hope that films can be original in the future. I hope the US film can come up with more original ideas now. but that does not mean an American remake of Parasite! That's the only thing that scares me. It reminds me of a scene in The Player, where a jaded rich Hollywood producer (Tim Robbins) sits in a theater watching Bicycle Thieves with disgruntled writer ( Vincent D'onofrio. Robbins says that maybe he could remake it. D'onofrio replies " You'd give it a happy ending!"

The Apostle (1997) DVD 10/10 A Texas preacher commits a crime and goes on the run, settling in small town in Louisiana. I just re watched this last night on Valentine's day, simply because I first saw it on Feb 14 1998 when it first released. I love this one and it's practically a one man show by Robert Duvall-writing, directing and acting in the lead role. It could have become a stereotypical Southern bashing film or a police procedural showing the manhunt for his capture, but Duvall does not let the audience off that easy. This is brilliant character study is told nearly completely through the eyes of Duvall role Sonny Dewey. It begins with a charismatic Dewey losing his lavish church and his wife (Farrah Fawcett) and children due to his anger and jealousy issues. After he erupts in sudden violence he leaves town and goes on an odyssey. He then finds the small town and a retired preacher who agrees to help him, using an assumed name and conceals his past. He then starts a small church and charms the small congregation. Many of the people are played by actual locals and not professional actors which adds to the authenticity. Billy Bob Thornton shows up in a small role of a racist trouble maker. This movie really draws me in every time I watch it. You may not like Sonny but you will be mesmerized by him.
