  1. The Old Man And The Sea Next-Judgment At Nuremberg (Spencer Tracy double feature)
  2. Well said. One of my favorite scenes was where Sharon goes to a movie theater to watch herself in The Wrecking Crew. It is great that we see the actual Sharon Tate on screen. Margot Robbie as Sharon in the audience gets to hear the others in the theater laugh at her comedy bits and applaud her martial arts fight with Nancy Kwan. I was dreading what I thought was going to happen on screen on August 9 1969. In real life, after Sharon's murder, husband Roman Polanski had a press conference and talked about how everyone knew how beautiful she was but few know how good she was. And the film definitely shows that, she was a very kind and good hearted person.
  3. Since we are now in 2020, I was thinking of favorite films from years ending in "0". Here is my favorite film of each year, what are yours? 1920- 1930- 1940- 1950- 1960- 1970- 1980- 1990- 2000- 2010- Here are mine 1920- The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari 1930-Animal Crackers 1940-The Grapes Of Wrath 1950-Sunset Blvd 1960-Psycho 1970-The Boys In The Band 1980-Gregory's Girl 1990-Goodfellas 2000-Memento 2010-Black Swan
  4. He had some hilarious guest appearances on the 1960s Dragnet, as a bumbling crook or a drunken witness.
  5. Spoilers ahead on Once Upon A Time In Hollywood- The real Patricia "Katie" Krenwinkel (still alive in prison) should be shown that scene, so she can see what should have happened to her. Same goes for Tex Watson, Susan Atkins is already dead and burning in Hell and she gets roasted in the movie.
  6. That's an annual one for me. It will be especially poignant this year since we have now lost another cast member Carol Lynley.
  7. He was a great talent. One song from The Rutles show was "I Must Be In Love" which was not only a spot on Beatles parody, it was good enough to have been a hit in the 1960s. He also did a hilarious "Sir Robin" song in Monty Python And The Holy Grail.
  8. These are the actual winners that year: 1. Victor McLaglen in The Informer 2. Crosby 3. Judy Holliday in Born Yesterday 4. William Holden in Stalag 17 5. Yul Brynner in The King And I 6. David Niven in Separate Tables 7. Simone Signoret in Room At The Top 8. Schell 9. Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady 10. John Wayne in True Grit 11. Marlon Brando in The Godfather 12. Finch 13. Diane Keaton in Annie Hall 14. Robert Duvall in Tender Mercies 15. MacLaine 16. Abraham 17. Jodie Foster in Silence Of The Lambs
  9. It happened 17 times and not since 1991, which one do you think was best? This is just for either 2 males or 2 females in the same film. 1. Clark Gable, Charles Laughton and Franchot Tone in Mutiny On The Bounty (1935) the only time 3 leading performances were nominated. 2. Bing Crosby and Barry Fitzgerald in Going My Way (1944) Fitzgerald was also nominated and won for Best Supporting Actor, Academy rules were changed to prevent this from happening again. 3. Anne Baxter and Bette Davis in All About Eve (1950) 4. Montgomery Clift and Burt Lancaster in From Here To Eternity (1953) 5, James Dean and Rock Hudson in Giant (1956) 6, Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier in The Defiant Ones (1958) 7. Katherine Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor in Suddenly Last Summer (1959) 8. Maximilian Schell and Spencer Tracy in Judgment At Nuremberg (1961) 9. Richard Burton and Peter O'Toole in Becket (1964) 10, Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight in Midnight Cowboy (1969) 11. Michael Caine and Laurence Olivier in Sleuth (1972) 12, Peter Finch and William Holden in Network (1976) 13. Anne Bancroft and Shirley MacLaine in The Turning Point (1977) 14. Tom Courtenay and Albert Finney in The Dresser (1983) 15. Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger in Terms Of Endearment (1983) 16. F Murray Abraham and Tom Hulce in Amadeus (1984) 17. Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon in Thelma And Louise (1991) My Choices 1. I go with Laughton as evil Captain Bligh, very flamboyant performance, but the most memorable 2. I thought Fitzgerald's crusty old school priest was more entertaining 3. It's got to be Bette in one of her most iconic roles. 4. Clift is brilliant and is really the main character in the film, I paid the most attention to his character. 5. I thought Hudson as the macho rancher was better than angsty Dean. 6. Close call but I give it to Curtis in his most atypical role of the southern bigot. 7. Taylor has some histrionics at the end but for the most part I liked her performance slightly better. 8. Tracy was better IMO, very subtle and held my attention more. 9. I like Burton's quiet strength better than O'Toole's ranting 10. I go with Voight, he was very moving and he was the main character, Hoffman was great too but was a secondary character. 11. Another close call but Olivier in one of his delightfully hammy performances but he is so entertaining. 12, Finch seems to have a smaller role but his role as the mad TV anchorman is so great I have to go with him. 13. I haven't seen this one. 14. Finney is rip roaringly good as the flamboyant actor, I say he is better. 15, Although MacLaine won that year, I thought Winger's character and performance was more riveting. 16. Abraham's jealous Salieri was more interesting 17. I haven't seen this one.
  10. The reason I love Rock Hudson is because he had great comic timing in lighter films yet could be an excellent dramatic actor in more serious roles. Next-Stanley Kubrick films
  11. Rosemary Murphy was in The Young Doctors with Aline MacMahon
  12. W h o r e (1991) Next- Wild Things (1998) 2 with Theresa Russell
  13. The reason I love Alfred Hitchcock films is because suspense is my favorite genre in film and I can always count on seeing some great and innovative camera work. Next- The Beatles
  14. Come Back To The Five And Dime Jimmy Dean Jimmy Dean Next- Up The Down Staircase (Sandy Dennis double bill)
  15. I have seen these: 341. Of Mice And Men-loved it, best version ever of the Steinbeck classic 343. It's A Wonderful Life - I like it, though not as big a fan as others. 345. Tea And Sympathy-very good. one of Deborah Kerr's best performances 347. The Odd Couple-a good movie though I prefer the TV version with Tony Randall and Jack Klugman, my favorite sitcom of all time. 348. Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore-good road movie, Ellen Burstyn deserved that Oscar 349. Uncle Buck-I love John Candy but hated this movie.
  16. Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice and Hannie Caulder are great movies but he is primarily a TV actor. I Spy is the show he will be best remembered for, he was a Columbo murderer 3 times. Due to his dapper appearance and cocky attitude he was the perfect contrast to Peter Falk's rumpled and seemingly bumbling police lieutenant. He also appeared in a good suburban Death Wish TV knockoff called Outrage.
  17. Yes, that was the most interesting, though the first one with Betty Field as the homely girl hiding behind the pretty mask was good too. I thought the final one with Charles Boyer was the weakest one.
  18. I always liked Paul Newman fleecing Robert Shaw in The Sting
  19. I was hoping to find a close up of her on the balcony scene but Natalie does look stunning in this one
  20. T Wild Seed (1965) TCM 7/10 A runaway girl hooks up with a drifter while she travels cross country to meet her biological father for the the first time. Michael Parks does his best James Dean in this road film and Celia Kaye (an actress I do not recall seeing before) gives a very good performance. The real star is the stark B&W photography by Conrad Hall. There is also some great on location shooting and a surprise ending.
  21. Dick Powell Next-The Hanging Tree (1959)
  22. I have seen all except for 291 and 292. I was surprised that it was Buster Crabbe in that picture, I thought it was Fernando Lamas at first.
